To be 16 Months Again...

I. Am. Exhausted.

We had statewide testing for the second week in a row this week. I had to proctor the test on Tuesday, Wednesday, and today. And that consists of walking around and motivating students to do their best on ridiculously long and unbelievably hard computerized tests. The change of routine seemed to throw everybody (teachers and students alike) off...and it is has just been a rough week.

So, therefore, I am living vicariously through my 16-month-old.

She gets to go to fun places and play with fun toys.

And (what I am most jealous about) she gets to NAP!

Regardless of my exhaustion, I am planning on waking up tomorrow morning for the (scheduled for 5:00am) Royal Wedding! I know I'll be able to see footage of it later on, but there is something exciting about watching it live. Or so I think...now. Maybe when my alarm goes off at 4:45 am I'll think differently...

No Bib Spaghetti

Somehow we got out of the bib habit. Maybe it is because of all of the cute outfits ruined by drool bibs (months and MONTHS of drool bibs!). Who knows. But when we feed Cal meals in her high chair, we don't use bibs.

Even tonight, spaghetti night.

The latest obsession of our little toddler is watching pictures and videos of herself on the computer. And by obsession, I mean OBSESSION.

It usually goes down like this:
1) Callie spots the laptop and starts frantically signing "Please."
2) Knowing that a boatload of whining will ensue if I'm not fast enough, I frantically open the computer up, open the video folder, and get a video going.
3) Callie crawls into my lap.
4) As soon as the video is over (anywhere between 30 second and a minute and a half later), I get the frantic "More" sign until I close the current video and wait the five seconds it takes to open up and start the next one.
5) Repeat steps 1-4. A lot of times. Because she finds herself hilarious.

Oh, I almost forgot steps 6 and 7.

6) I decide that we've had enough of the videos, sign "All done", close the laptop up and put it away.
7) MASSIVE TODDLER MELTDOWN.

Fun times! Why do I give into this silliness? Because it is guaranteed cuddle time that I usually don't get with our on-the-go little girl.

A Lengthy Weekend Wrap-Up

The weekend can be summed up into four F nouns.

Fun. Family. Friends. Food.

Friday night- Dinner with college crew at El Loro...yum!

Saturday- Party!!!!

Sunday- Easter Service, Lunch and delicious birthday cake at the condo with all of the Hendersons (except Auntie Laura), and Dinner and delicious fruit pizza at G-ma and G-pa's. I took so many stinkin' cute pictures that I couldn't decide which ones to post, so here are a bunch. I will put all the other ones on our Shutterfly Site.

All in all, today was a lovely Easter and a great birthday. Thanks to all our friends and family who sent birthday wishes my way!!!

An Easter, A Birthday, and A Blog Anniversary!

First off, Happy Easter from our two little bunnies!

Secondly, today marks the beginning of the last year of my 20s...yikes! So I'm going to post one of my favorite pics of me and Cal for the occasion.

And lastly, it was 2 years ago today that we found out we were having a baby! I started the Baby Goose Blog the next day.

Party!

We went to Nana and Papa's 60th Anniversary Party today! It was so fun- LOTS and LOTS of people! Callie was pretty shy most of the time, which is the newest phase (well...that, along with some pretty ragin' temper tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants!).

All of the 2nd generation cousins were there, so we had to do another couch picture! And it was pretty hilarious. I took about 10 pictures, here are a few that were the best.

16 Months Old!!!

Happy Earth Day!

Tree

Almost exactly 16 months ago we got a call from our neighbors saying that the city put signs on our block that they were going to be removing the tree in front of our house. On Christmas Eve day. And therefore, we had to move our other car. When we were in the hospital after just having a baby.

I was in la-la land so Chris dealt with the situation. And ultimately I think Dan came over and moved the car for us.

Anyway, today, almost exactly 16 months later, we finally got a new tree.

Just in time for Callie's 2nd Earth Day, I guess.

Thankfully, it was gone by the time we got home.

Callie seems to be taking after her Auntie Cathleen in terms of handed-ness. I'm not sure when it actually comes to be, but right now she's using her left hand to eat.

Prom

My friend Melissa, who has 6-month-old Teddy, had a prom freak-out a little bit ago. As in, someday Teddy will be going to prom! After dinner on Saturday night, I had the same freak-out.

I forgot to mention on my Weekend Wrap-Up yesterday that we met our friends Josh and Alison at The Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner on Saturday. Which, coincidentally, had what seemed to be 500,000 prom-goers dining at the same time.

Some of the girls' dresses were SO INAPPROPRIATE. Like, unbelievably inappropriate.

Sheer panels in places that shouldn't be sheer. Backs so low that cracks could easily hang out. Cleavage. Dresses with ugly colors and patterns. Girls with dark tans.

I have never been a mother to a teenager, so I guess I can't say too much...but I do know that I will put my foot down if my teenage girl wants any of the dresses that I saw that night. Nor will she be dark tan (hahahahahahahaha...she couldn't even if she TRIED with having the parents she has!).

I guess it just made me freak out at how big she is already getting. Kids growing up is such a funny thing. It is equal parts amazing and heart-breaking.

I guess I'm glad to have seen the skanky prom-girls, because it has been a good reminder to TREASURE all of the little moments. They go by so fast.

Weekend Wrap-Up

I did recover from my snow-anger Saturday morning and we proceeded to have a nice low-key weekend.

Had some condo time on Saturday. The hallway window has quickly become one of Callie's favorite spots. She looks out/down over the city (with no fear, I might add)and points to everything.

We also got out her trike and she had fun being pushed as well as pushing Pluto!

Today (after I did a nine-mile run from our house to the condo!) we had a lunch date with Jenna and Charlie. The two kids were hilarious...it was really fun to see them actually interacting:

Then we went to see the Easter Bunny. As you might remember, last year Callie was less than impressed with the bunny. This year, it was more of a Santa experience. She immediately started crying when I put her in the bunny's lap, so I held her in mine and she calmed down a little, but was still pretty mad.

Sooo...to make it up to her we found a fun little merry-go-round and she loved it!

We stopped by to see Grandma, Grandpa and Auntie Cathleen on our way home. We went outside for a little bit...and Callie loves to point out airplanes that she hears in the sky. Every. Single. Time.

After we got home we had nap time (everybody slept!), dinner, and then headed to the evening service at church for Palm Sunday. Callie enjoyed listening to MorMor's music and clapped after every hymn/song.

We ended the evening with a little dance party on the newly laundered Dancing Quilt.

Grandpa: Is poopie all done? Or more?

Callie: (signing) More!

(A few moments later)

Grandpa: Now is it all done? Or more?

Callie: (signing) All done!

And it was safe to change the diaper.

Weekend Wrap-Up

A day like today is why I can say I love the Midwest. We spend all of winter (months and months and months) cursing our humble state as we freeze, shovel, and hibernate. The length and severity of this winter was especially brutal, but it made today SO very sweet.

Sunshine. Warmth. No jackets. No socks. Flip Flops! Humidity (I always hope my hair forgets what it likes to do in humidity after long dry winters, but alas, it remembered).

So really, the only thing bad about this day (or this weekend!) was my hair.

Saturday:
*Chiropractor appointment
*Condo time with MorMor and Bops
*Good naps
*Dinner at our house with our small group (which now includes Callie and Charlie)

Sunday:
*Me: 8 Mile Training Run in the humidity (see my comments earlier in the post as to why there are no pictures of this event); Callie and Daddy: breakfast and naptime
*Lunch at Chipotle...mmm...cheese quesadillas

*Afternoon at G & G's enjoying the sunshine (and all the neighbors!)

*Last, but definitely not least: an amazingly easy road to sleepies: she was all about the bottle drinking, tooth brushing, sleep sack wearing, and had no patience for cuddling. Instead, she wriggled out of my arms towards the crib. So I placed her in the crib, left the room, and listened to the sound of silence.
