Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday! We are back in the land of weekends flying by and feeling impossibly short. September is coming!

The first thing we did on Saturday was race #10!! I ran a 5K around the zoo, and then the girls (and I) did a .5 mile kids run. The rain wasn't too bad and we had a blast!

My New Year's Resolution is met! I got out all my shirts today, just to be sure.

My final list of 10 races is: Securian 5K (January) Get Lucky 7K (March), Goldy's Run 5K (March), Get in Gear 10K (April), Daisy Dash 5K (May), Run for the Roses 10K (June), Rise Up 5K (July), Tiki Run 15K (July), Urban Wildland Half Marathon (July), Tiger Tracks 5K (August).

I kept a journal of all of my training runs and races, and from January 1st to today I logged 429.5 miles. I feel pretty good about that.  Now I'm not sure what I'll do...but I know I'll be busy now that school is starting again.

Later on Saturday we went to Boom's house and hung out with her, Great Margie, and Lucy, Craigles and Yoda!

I tried to get a cute picture of the cousins, and a funny series of pictures happened.

And I caught Lucy's cute giggle!

This morning Maya was  adorable...and then we had lots of fun at Edinborough! The Held's met us there too and the we went to have lunch and ice cream.

We spent the rest of the day at home...and watched the Lynx game tonight. Or tried to...there was a dancing 4-year-old that was kind of distracting.

Have a great week!

A Picture Update

Holy moly I'm exhausted. Between going back to work and Chris being gone for a work trip for 3 days, it was quite the week. But we all made it!

The girls hung out with Boom and Lucy on Monday.

There was a lot of national attention on the sky for the Eclipse on Monday. I briefly saw it (it was cloudy in MN!) and the sunset was pretty too.

Callie hung out with Boom on Tuesday while Maya had summer preschool.

Then Cal and I had some Snapchat fun before bed.

Both girls hung out with Pa and G-ma on Wednesday and Thursday. And even saw Uncle Dan and Shambles for a bit too!

We went over to Boom's on Wednesday to see Great Margie, who is in town this week, and celebrate Craigles' birthday.

And Callie got another day to hang with Boom, Lucy and Great Margie today (while Maya was at preschool again).

We are picking Chris up at the airport in a few hours and then I'm sure I will fall asleep at like 8pm.

Tomorrow morning is my 10th race! At the zoo! And I am making the girls do a kids run too. We went to pick up our race gear and did a couple of things at the zoo before it closed.

It should be a fun (and very rainy and wet) morning.

49-Months-Old!

We are in the home stretch of acknowledging the monthly 23rds! I think I stopped once Callie turned 5.

But anyway, this girl:

I just want to squeeze her all the time but she is getting so big and too busy for many mom squeezes.

Her spunk and sweetness will take her places! She starts year 2 of preschool this year and I'm excited to see how much she will grow.

Timehop Tuesday: Happy Birthday Uncle Craigles!

First up, it is Uncle Craigles' birthday today!!! Hope you have a great one.

Here are a few Timehops today.

Callie and Charlie!!!

A year ago this last weekend Jenna and I went out to Seattle to visit Bethany with no kids. This year she came here and we had all the kids!

And then there was Maya, a little blondie as a 2-year-old and a brunette as a 4-year-old. Crazy how much her hair changed!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hola!

We had a fun and busy weekend with friends and family. As I mentioned on Friday, Brent, Bethany and Weston stayed with us. We got some good play time in.

On Saturday we had a baby shower for Laura (Suurmeyer) Gusa! It was a lovely time and I got some good Lucy squeezes in too.

Maya told me later that she didn't think it was fair that they didn't get to go to the "baby bath" like Lucy. Haha! She also put on this mask before bed and called it a face cape. And called herself "Ken-yan-yan." We don't ask questions, we just go with it!

This morning the Helds came over for brunch and it was a houseful of crazy! And it was so fun!

We met Brent and Bethany and Jenna and Andy as childless mid-20s couples at church about 10 years ago. We had to take pictures of the moms and kids and then dads and kids to document how far we have come in a decade!

To send off summer, the girls and I went to the beach with G-ma and Pa while Chris went golfing.

Tonight we played a new personalized game from Aunt Mary and Uncle Larry (so cool!!) and then I tried to get one last snuggle picture. As you can see it turned out well...

My reality starts back tomorrow. The girls still have 2 more weeks, and will enjoy hanging out with the fam while I am back to work. We are so so so so lucky.

10 Things in 10 Weeks of Summer

Ok. For my summer wrap-up I decided to limit myself to 10 pictures to summarize the 10 weeks of the summer of 2017. So here we go, in no particular order (until the last few):

1) Running

I trained hard for most of the summer. I raced a variety of distances, culminating in a half marathon.  It was great and awful all at the same time!

2) Baby Lucy

We were lucky enough to spend lots of quality time with Lucy this summer! I'm going to miss seeing her so often.

3) Swimming

The girls turned into fish this summer! They loved swimming lessons and any other times that they got to be in a pool or lake!

4) Our front yard

We spent a lot of time playing in our front yard. I'm grateful for a quiet street and understanding neighbors.

5) Larsmont

We had an amazing vacation up north that Callie mourned the ending of for many weeks after with lots of tears. It is so special to have such fun and quality time with family.

6) Sunrise

I'm an early riser and my rising has gotten earlier as I have gotten older. I have grown to love the beautiful early morning sky.

7) Quiet time

I strictly enforced having quiet time when we were at home in the afternoons, and many times they would end up together despite starting in their own rooms. As long as there was no screaming, it was fine with me!

8) The three of them

There where days when I was spent by the time Chris got home. He was always up for giving me a break and taking them out to dinner and other fun activities so I could have some peace and quiet at home.

9) The two of us

We didn't get a whole lot of one-on-one time this summer, but managed a few date nights that I'm grateful for. We also celebrated our 12th anniversary.

10) The three of us

I spent a LOT of time with my girls this summer and it was at times extremely excellent and at times fairly frustrating. But we made it. And I'm going to miss it.

So there you have it. There was so much more to summer 2017, but the highlight reel is complete.

Well, maybe one more. This might be my favorite pic of all because it shows how joyful and bright a summer of love, family, friends and gratitude can be.

A Picture Update: Summer Week 10

And just like that, 10 weeks of summer is done.

On Monday we had our cousins over for some pool time and dinner. The girls laughed a lot at Donald and Fred's antics!

On Tuesday we enjoyed some extra pool time after swimming lessons.

On Wednesday we went to hang out with Boom and Lucy.

On Thursday we had Lucy and spent time at Auntie Yoda and Uncle Craigles' pool.

I took this picture of Lucy on a blanket my Grandma Henderson gave me as a baby. She liked playing with the little fabric butterflies.

This morning I beat the sunrise out on a run, but still saw pretty colors.

Our friends Brent and Bethany are in town this weekend and staying with us, along with their little 11-month-old cutie Weston! We had fun hanging out today, and also did a girls trip to the salon for some pampering.

This week I did some more side-by-sides of Lucy with the girls. First up, her and Callie in a colorful onesie (Callie is a few months older than Lucy in this picture).

And then her and Maya and their big cheeks!

The girls were super sad to be done with swimming lessons. They have become so much braver in the water this summer. We hope to continue lessons in the fall to keep the momentum going. I'll end with a video of diving board jumping!

My plan is to do some sort of summer wrap-up tomorrow, if I get my act together, so maybe come back then?  If not, Sunday.

And then real life starts again.  I feel pretty darn lucky to have a couple month break from reality every year, though.  I gotta keep focusing on gratitude.
