Artwork by Callie

Callie was SUPER excited to show me the pictures she made today.

Here they are (with her own original captions).

"This is lots of flowers"

"This is my hand"
(She asked me how to spell 'this', which is up in the corner)

"This is just me"

"Me doing a lot of poops on the potty"

And my personal favorite:
"Us in the jungle with coconuts falling on us"
I have ZERO artistic ability, so I'm curious if the girls will have more of that interest than me.  I kind of hope so, because I want to see more original artwork.  It is adorable.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday Everybody.

I noticed that the baby goose email notifications have stopped.  I haven't had a chance to look into it yet, but I assume that if you are reading this, you are on the web and don't read it in your email anyway.  If you usually read it in your email, but noticed that the emails stopped and started finding me on the internet, thanks for taking the time to do a few extra clicks.

We had a lovely, mellow weekend.

Saturday highlights:
*A Target Trip
*Bubble blowing in the front yard
*Time at the condo and with Gi-Gi
*Chris and Callie went to Stella's 2nd birthday party (Cowgirl themed!)

Sunday highlights:
*Lots of playtime at home (because of LOTS of rain outside)
*Squishy mealtime faces- every meal
*Baby trying to eat dog
*Jumping in puddles during a respite from the downpours
*Running with my new shoes and workout clothes (thanks Mom and Dad!)

Maya continues to be an awesome sleeper (**KNOCK ON WOOD**) and my little shadow.  And by shadow, I mean leech.  In the very best way possible.  She wants to be with me (in my arms) most of the time.  There are times that she'll sit and play, obviously, but they usually end with her looking over at me, realizing that I'm not holding her, and giving me the saddest crying face ever.  If Chris is holding her and she sees me walk in or out of the room...same sad crying face.  While I do enjoy being her favorite person, sometimes I just want to get a little laundry folded without a squirmy little one in my lap.  :)

Callie continues to be hilariously frustrating at times.  Other times she's amazingly fun.  I took her on a couple errands today, and she started freaking out in a store so we left.  While she was continuing to freak out in the car (saying ridiculous things that I can't even remember), I started giggling.  Bad move.

"MOM. STOP LAUGHING AT ME.  YOU ARE AS MEAN AS A NINJA TURTLE.  AND NINJA TURTLES ARE REALLY MEAN!"

So I resorted to the silent laughter shake as I tried to hold it in, and she quickly got over herself.

I'll end with my two favorite pictures from the weekend.  Though they were featured up in the collages, I feel like they each deserve to be shared as a big picture too.

Little Squish was clearly an appropriate nickname.
Her squishy face gets me every time.

I love this action shot (taken with my iPhone)!
We were only outside for a few minutes in between downpours, but had
so much fun.
Hope everybody has a great week!

Favorite-Things-Phone-Dump Friday: The Blogiversary Edition

As of today, this little Baby Goose blog has been around for FIVE YEARS.  Its my 5th blogiversary!

I was going to post links to all of my blogiversary posts, including my first ever post, but after looking at that one and the 2010 one, I decided that they were too lame and not worth your time.

I think my blogging skills have come a long way in 5 years.  I credit that to the influence of other bloggers/mom blogs that I follow.  So thanks to the friends and family who have been loyal to this one for so long. So very long.  Like HALF A DECADE.  Crazy.

Anyway, this was a fun and busy birthday week (minus being sick in bed on Wednesday...that wasn't too fun).  Here are the pictures...

TBT: The Birthday Edition

Today is my 32nd birthday, so for my first throwback I thought I'd share a set of pictures my dad put together that I don't think I ever posted here.  He sent this to me right after Maya was born.

We all look related, right?  Seeing Callie's poor bruised face was a reminder of her more traumatic birth.  I'm glad Maya's went much smoother and easier. But I think my birth takes the cake for traumatic- my mom threw her back out (to put it mildly) and was in the hospital for a few weeks.  You wouldn't know it from looking at my chubby face though, would you?  Thanks for taking such good care of me, Mom and Dad. :)

The next couple of throwbacks are Easter-related, since we just celebrated that holiday.  Callie was only 3.5 months old on her first Easter, and Maya was almost 9 months old.

And then, finally, the 9-month-old baby throwback.

Fun fact: It was 5 years ago today we found out that we were going to have baby #1.  FIVE YEARS AGO!!!  What?!?!?!

9-Months-Old!!!

Following up her sister on the 22nd, is Miss Maya Leigh celebrating 9 months of life on the 23rd.

Chris took her to her 9-month check-up this morning (I, unfortunately, got another kind of stomach bug).  She is a perfect baby and is a little bit smaller than Callie was at her age.

Weight: 18 pds 6 ounces- 54th%ile (Callie was 20 pounds -69th %ile)
Length: 27.38 inches- 40th %ile (Callie was 27.25 inches -46th %ile)
Head Circumference: 46 cm- 95th %ile (Callie was 47 centimeters -98th %ile)

I LOVE the 9 month age.  She is still so little and cute and cuddly.  She still drinks bottles but also eats anything we give her.  She sits and plays on the floor without moving, so we can relax a little bit before the craziness of walking toddlerhood starts.

She is just so squishy and wonderful.  It has been an awesome 9 months.

52-Months-Old!

The 22nd rolls around again...and the preschooler continues to keep us guessing.

After a pretty challenging weekend, in which her evil twin graced us with her presence, our sweet Callie has returned.  Her preschool teacher said she was the perfect student yesterday, and she did great home with Chris today.

She continues to teach us patience, joy, and how to rock an awesome pair of sunglasses.

Weekend Wrap-Up: The Happy Easter Edition!

First off, I have a ridiculous picture and an adorable picture to wish you HAPPY EASTER!!

Two happy bunnies and a mad bunny.  I'll let you decide who is who.

Two sweet girls in their coordinating Easter outfits.
Don't let the sweet preschooler face fool you, she spent most of the weekend either totally ignoring me and Chris, or doing the exact opposite of what we said.  Have you ever felt invisible?  That was us.  ALL. WEEKEND. LONG.

But anyway...I'll get to the rest of Easter in a second.  Yesterday was a fun day too.

*Playing at home
*Playing at the neighbors' house (dogs included)
*Playing in the sandbox
*Driving at Lunds
*Playing bocce ball in the rain with Bops, Yoda and Craig
Last night we had a very important task to do- leave a note and jelly beans for Easter and Mrs. Bunny.  And then the Easter Bunny left some pretty nice baskets for the girls to find in the morning.

He also left them a nice note
There was A LOT of excitement about the Easter Bunny coming, so a certain preschooler was up WAY early.  She came into our room around 6am wanting to look for the Easter eggs, at which point I realized I forgot to actually hide the Easter eggs.  So I was able to convince her to go back up to her room for a little bit and then frantically (at 6am) hid about 15 eggs around our house.

The Easter Bunny and Mrs. Bunny's baskets and note were a hit with both girls.

We went to church, and yes, I took a selfie in church.  Maya loved looking around and listening to the brass instruments.  When they played loudly, she yelled gibberish to keep up.

Then we went to the condo for a wonderful meal, a fun egg game, and lovely time with family and friends.

The Egg Game: A competition to see whose egg won't crack.
Just make sure the eggs are ALL hardboiled...we learned that the lesson in
a pretty hilarious way.
P.S. I was the winner.
Then it was time to head to G-ma and G-pa's house for more family fun.  Someone needed a little snooze in the car.

The weather was BEAUTIFUL so we took advantage of it.  But first Callie had to find the Easter baskets hidden in the house!

Thanks to our families for a wonderful day!  Hope everyone else had a very happy Easter too.

Favorite-Things-Phone-Dump Friday

It has been a long, hard week.

But the pictures of my girls make me smile, no matter what.

My favorite thing these days is watching them together.  They make each other laugh and seek out each other more and more.  It is so fun to see, and makes my heart really happy.

Here are the pictures...in no particular order...

Favorite Thing #1: An afternoon snoozefest in the car (parked in the garage) for two.

Favorite Thing #2: A hair experiment.  She did not like the look of the braids,
but enjoyed the "curly" hair in the morning.

Favorite Thing #3: Friday at Boom's house...including playing while watching the
window washer.

Favorite Thing #4: Evenings with no plans: playing at home...
walking with a baby who can glare with the best of them.

Favorite Thing #5: Monday at Boom's for Maya

Favorite Thing #6: Monday night at G-ma and G-pa's

Favorite Thing #7: Crazy selfies

Favorite Thing #8: Thursday with G-ma

Favorite Thing #9: Hanging out with Auntie Mari

Favorite Thing #10: Wednesday

Favorite Thing #11: Ending the week with a good ole' wrestling match.
Have a wonderful Easter Weekend!
