A Picture Update: Summer Week 1

There are 10 weeks of summer and we are done with week 1! All I can say is the weeks are short but the days are L-O-N-G. I think by about mid-afternoon on Monday I texted my friend Jenna (also a teacher starting her summer break at home with her children) saying that my own spawn make me more excited for daily cocktails than my high-schoolers did. Or something like that. But anyway, we had a fun and busy (and sometimes very whiny) week.

Each morning we had swimming lessons. I took some video clips each day, so here are the clips all put together with a very appropriate background song edited in. I'm working on my technology skills.

We went to Boom's house and then out for a walk, etc., with Boom, Auntie Yoda and Lucy on Monday.

We played at the pool and had lunch at Jenna, Charlie, Mabel and Sylvia's house on Tuesday.

Maya had her early childhood screening on Wednesday and rocked it!

On Wednesday we went over to the condo in the afternoon. Callie practiced her dance on the deck and Jim and Coco came over for dinner and to meet Lucy!

Speaking of dance, Callie's recital is this weekend. She had her rehearsal last night and it was great. She looks way too cute in her costume.

Today I went for a super early run- I think I was out the door by 5:10am. And was rewarded with this pre-sunrise sky.

Later we met Yoda, Lucy and Boom for lunch and ice cream, and then went to the park.

Today we also got haircuts.

Here are some other random pictures from this week.

And here they are, "being Kona"

Chris was out of town for a work trip for 2 days of this week, and I spent almost 24/7 with the girls. So... when he got home tonight I promptly gave him the dinner recipe and ingredients and the children and they made dinner while I laid on the bed.

And then about 15 minutes later, guess what happened?

I'll leave you with another video- this time in slo-mo!

Timehop Tuesday

Hey guys! This is me today:

I'm sitting at swimming lessons. While both girls are in the water with professionals. And I have coffee. It is awesome.

Happy Summer!

Anyway, here are my Timehops.

Date nights.

Maya:

Callie: and the original caption of baby Callie's picture was "guess who just ate asparagus?" With this bomb pop she has taken a major steps back.

And speaking of taking major steps back, preschoolers eating donuts at the market:

Have a lovely day.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy first weekend of summer!! We had a fun and busy one.

Hanna invited a bunch of us to go wedding dress shopping with her on Saturday morning. It was SO fun, and she found her dress!

No spoiler pictures though. 😃 And Callie had fun dressing up in the accessories.

Callie had her last dance class (in costumes) yesterday afternoon and Ms. Connie gave them a lovely pep talk about the recital next weekend.

Then we dropped the girls of with Auntie Cat so we could go to a wedding. The girls had so much fun making pizza for G-ma and Pa.

We had fun at Chris' co-worker's wedding. It was outside and HOT, but thankfully there was breeze. And a beautiful sunset.  And food trucks!

This morning I ran 8 miles. Before 7am. Which is almost 15,000 steps.

Then the girls and I snuggled during the crazy weather while Chris was on storm watch.

It calmed down a little and we went to watch Boom play at church. And the end of the service I brought Maya up to watch the organist.

After lunch at the condo we headed to meet Chris' friend Adam's new 10 day old baby. Meara was very sweet and Maya continued her love affair with holding babies.

We went back to Boom's and watched the Lynx game with wine. A perfect Sunday activity.

Have a great week!

A Picture Update

We made it to summer vacation!!!!! My 13th year of teaching is done and I now have 11 weeks of summer ahead of me. I'm excited to be with my girls and live a less stressed (yet probably more frenzied) existence for a couple months.

My first goal of summer? To see if my body is capable of sleeping until 6am. This is my Fitbit-tracked sleep pattern for the past week, which is pretty much how it has been for the past...long time.

So yeah. Sleeping til 6 would be a luxury, but I'm not holding my breath for it to actually happen.

Anyway, here are the pictures from the week!

Maya hung out with Boom, Auntie Yoda (and Lucy) and G-ma came over and planted part 1 of a mini garden in our front yard.

On Tuesday after work we played outside because we still didn't have functioning air conditioning. It was hot!

On Tuesday night I went with Bob and Mary to see Cat play drums with a small girls group at a cool little restaurant. Mary and I ordered the wine sampler, which we thought was going to be much smaller than it turned out to be.

Here are a few clips of the beautiful music we heard!

Callie's last day of 1st grade was on Wednesday. I really can't believe how much older she looks now.

Her teacher, Ms. Mo, sent us a picture of them on the last day!

There was a picnic at my school that evening, so I brought the girls along for a bit.

It was HOT!

G-ma also finished up our front gardens. It looks so beautiful!

The girls hung out with Pa and Auntie Cat yesterday morning.

And we got a new AC unit. Yay!

Callie got to sleep over at Boom's house last night. They had a blast today doing all sorts of things!

Have a lovely weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

It is already Sunday night! The big news of our weekend is our air conditioning went out! We are hot, I'm glowing, and the girls have spent a fair amount of time in undies. Thank goodness for fans.

As for the rest of the weekend, I started yesterday with an early morning run.

I went to help with a garage sale at G-ma and Pa's house, and ended up selling a bunch of baby and toddler clothes. Watching other people go through the girls' clothes was more emotional than I expected.

Callie was excited to get Nana's birdhouse, complete with cute little birds and nests inside.

Before Chris and the girls joined us at the end of the sale, they had a fun morning at the zoo! And saw kangaroos!

We went to see Boom, Lucy, Auntie Yoda and Uncle Craigles yesterday afternoon. Here is how it goes with trying to take any kind of picture with Maya.

This morning I ran the easiest run I've had in awhile and it was 7 miles and I got faster every mile. By mile 6 it felt like someone was pushing my back. I'm attributing that to my dad. :)

It was the last Sunday school class for the year, and there was a petting zoo! It also happened to be a city-wide "open streets" celebration with lots of fun things to do.

Our friends Nate, Kaela, Caleb and Adelay came over for some fun water play.

And now we are gearing up for the last week of school. Callie is done on Wednesday and I'm officially done at the end of the day on Friday. We are FIVE DAYS from summer vacation. That seems absolutely bonkers, but I'll take it.
