Weekend Wrap-Up
Happy Sunday!
Then G-ma and Pa picked up the girls for a day at the county fair!
On their way home that stopped to see Pa’s work. And while they were having fun all day, Chris and I got a lot of house and yard stuff done. And also Luna helped Chris watch golf. It was a hot afternoon, so Maya was ready to cool off in the pool when they got home.
Last night we went to Michael Koch’s graduation party. Michael was maybe three years old when I met him. Chris was the “manny” for his family way back in the early 2000s (Michael’s older brothers Anthony and Jacob are now in their early 20s and Chris ended up becoming their younger sister Christine’s godfather... she was the flower girl in our wedding and now is going to be a sophomore in high school!) It had been a long time since we spent time at their house, and was great to catch up with people we hadn’t seen in years.
Christine and Michael are pictured above...and just to make myself feel old I went through lots of old photo albums and scrapbooks last night. Here are Christine and Michael when they were much littler and how I remember them.
Yikes. Anyway...!
We went to hear Boom play the flute at church and then went downtown. We took a walk outside with Iris and Gold Medal Park is always fun.
The girls and Chris also played some condo basketball!
Callie spent the afternoon at Boom’s house by herself and they had ice cream and went to the Lynx game and ride home on a bike taxi. Pretty cool!
Maya had the afternoon (and her parents!) to herself at home. We got out the pool, watched a bit of the game, she vacuumed with Daddy and played hide-and-seek with Luna.
Well there is ONE more week of summer before I start 2 weeks of teacher workshops and then a new school year. Crazy.
His photo face hasn’t really changed much since 2002. Ha!
Maya, Luna and I started yesterday out with a very hazy run/bike ride watching the red sun.

A Picture Update: Summer Week 9
Editor’s note: Aaaaaah! Sometimes the app on my phone just doesn’t save all the work I do and posts half done posts instead of everything and it drives me bonkers. So this is take 2 (from my computer now) of this post. I’m glad I checked it an hour after I posted...
Like for instance, my newly aged 5-year-old has held me hostage in numerous occasions: refusing to wear her seatbelt, refusing to pick up garbage (see pic below), refusing to do much of anything I ask her that she doesn’t want to do...so at this point I’m hoping kindergarten will be a good kick in the pants for her.
But then also she makes me cute papers with my name all over them in drawing class...so...????
Ok the rest of the week: Monday we hung out downtown in the morning!

That night Auntie Cat took the girls overnight so Chris and I got to go out to dinner and a movie for our anniversary.
On Tuesday we just kinda hung out. The girls' new favorite game is "traffic" where they line up all the things in the garage (and then refuse to put them away without arguments). And then at lunch they totally went bonkers asking Alexa to play songs about farts and poop. And I got video evidence.

The girls had their yearly well-child checks on Wednesday morning (all is well!) and Maya had fun looking in the waiting room's goofy mirrors.
That evening we went to Nana and Papa's place for a BBQ and fundraiser raffle. A lot of Gosselins came and it was a fun night with family. And we were pretty lucky in the raffle: Callie won pillows, Maya won a fairy lantern, and Pa won a Root Beer basket and Panera gift card!

I got to be a little lazy in the afternoons...along with some errands and meeting friends for coffee. Luna helps me be lazy...but also gets me out on walks!
This morning the girls and I went to my coworker's house to have coffee and play time with a couple coworkers. There were six kids there from 2 to 9 years old. It was a little crazy but they had fun!
Today we spent more time in the pool...which was more time for CRAZY.

13 Years!
We have reached Lucky 13, guys.

I’ve got a few more wrinkles and pounds, and Chris has a few less...um...hairs. And a decreased need for all the hair product.

For today I’ll just leave you with pictures from the years ending in 8 that we have known each other (3 different decades!). It was in ‘98 that we started to be “a thing” as teenagers. In ‘08 we were relaxed 20-somethings with lots of free time. And in ‘18 we’re tired 30-somethings with 2 kids and a part-time dog.

Weekend Wrap-Up
Hey all!
Lucy is a riot these days, and we all just giggle at her. So fun!
Today we started back-to-school shopping! The girls are set with new backpacks, lunchboxes, and clothes. Callie even found a new outfit that matches her current career goal: NASA scientist.
As you can see, Maya has NO CHILL about getting a new backpack. She was beyond excited. Callie is slightly embarrassed for her, and that will probably be the case for her a lot this year, as they will be in same school!

We had a pretty low-key weekend. We spent a chunk of the day yesterday downtown, but before that we had some cuddle time and bike ride time.

A Picture Update: Summer Week 8
Happy Friday!
Then we walked to Gold Medal Park.
One big thing that I don’t think I have mentioned yet is that Auntie Mari and Uncle Josh are moving down to Missouri...!! Josh got into the MBA program at the University so he’ll be doing that for 2 years. Josh moves soon but Mari is staying through August. We had a final family hurrah with Josh on Sunday.
We will miss them a lot! But it is a cool new opportunity for them.
On Wednesday we went to Chutes and Ladders Park.
Yesterday we played outside.
I had snuggle time with Luna while the girls were at camp. (And also was able to do cleaning and shopping and running all by myself!)
This afternoon Auntie Cat came over to play! And Callie schooled us at Quirkle.

If you ever need a pick me up: google any kind of boxer puppies and you won’t be disappointed.
As you can see, Callie was excited too.
Two weeks left of summer and my back-to-school dreams have started already. I had a work meeting this week, though, which was good. I work at a great place. Remind me of that in a few months when I’m in the thick of crazy!
Anyway...here are the pictures from the week!
On Sunday we went to church and downtown to see the fam. Lucy and the girls spent the service in the nursery (though Callie appeared “too cool” when we picked them up). Then they had fun playing at Boom’s house. And Lucy is walking everywhere!

As for the rest of the week...the girls had “Incredible Edibles” camp each morning. Maya is finally able to go to camp now that she is 5, and she was so excited. By the third day Callie said “Mom, I need a break from Maya. She was so annoying at camp.” And then yesterday she told me that the teacher had to tell Maya to be quiet. Twice. 😳 This is the girl who didn’t speak to teachers (or much at all) at preschool. But I’m sure a big part of it was that Callie was there and she wanted to impress her big sister. Stinker.
Let’s see...on Tuesday the girls and I went to the pool for just some fun swimming.

Ok P.S. (A couple weeks ago Callie asked me what P.S. meant and I had no real idea what it stands for but was like “back in the old days people wrote letters... and if they forgot to say something they added it at the end with a P.S”...and she was not impressed)
Anyway P.S. we were curious what Luna might have looked like as a baby so we googled “black brindle boxer puppies” and found a close match so we will pretend this is puppy Luna.
