Go Vikings!
Well, it is the first game of the season. We're all in our Vikings gear, including Callie Joy:

Meal Time
It's getting pretty entertaining feeding Callie Joy. And I can only imagine it will continue to get more entertaining the bigger she gets!
We still haven't really moved past baby food and baby puffs into real foods successfully. But that's okay, she still only has 2 bottom teeth.

Lessons from Day #1
So our first day of school with kids was today and I learned or re-learned a few things.
1) Watching the itty-bitty kindergartners come in this morning (some looking terrified) made me already start dreading this day 5 years from now. Seriously.
2) My feet were very much out of the routine of wearing normal (uncomfortable) shoes. I miss flip flops already.
3) No matter how much I missed my baby's smiles, I was REALLY glad to see the students' smiles.
4) My co-workers are awesome...we're really more like a work family.
5) I am thankful to have this little punkin head to come home to.

Here's to a fantastic 2010-2011 school year!

Labor Day Weekend Part II
I think we have spent maybe an hour a day at home besides sleeping the past couple of days. It has been fun!
Yesterday we went to church and my parents played a couple duets during the service. My Mom plays regularly, but it has been YEARS since my Dad has pulled out his clarinet, so it was a treat!

Yes, I pulled out my camera in church. :)
At the end of one of their pieces Callie sneezed in excitement about hearing MorMor and Bops playing together.
Then we went back to the condo and played with Great-Grandma (and Kona and Daddy)!

Later Callie and Charlie got to hang out:

Today we went to the fair! Callie wasn't as photogenic as she usually is, so some pictures aren't too great. But here are a couple cute ones:

This afternoon we went over to Nana and Papa's house and had a nice visit and played cards. Tonight we had a small group BBQ.
Now we're home and I'm contemplating the number of calories I have eaten today. And this weekend. And the past two weeks. And the past month. I know that earlier I said that September 1st was the day I was starting my calorie counting thing, but I delayed it until the first day of school because of things like 2 weeks of teacher training (long lunches!), the state fair (foot-long corn dogs, etc) and labor day weekend (BBQs).
So here I am, school starts tomorrow, and I'm READY to be good again. August brought the end of running AND breastfeeding. That was a double whammy of calories NOT being burned. And a LOT of food still consumed.
So ADIOS ten-pounds-of-summer, give me a few months and you'll be G-O-N-E GONE. I hope. :)
Finally, a couple of cute videos from the weekend.

Labor Day Weekend Part I
We have had a great labor day weekend so far!
While hanging out at the condo, Bops and Callie did something that he has been waiting 8 months to do:
Silly Bops!
We went to the Twins game yesterday and it took Callie awhile to warm up to the noise and chaos:

But then she warmed up to the fun and enjoyed herself!

Today we're off to church and then lunch at the condo with MorMor, Bops and Great-Grandma Henderson!

Jeans!
It was a little cool tonight, so I dug out one of Callie's pairs of jeans.
Adorable. They show off her long legs!

Though it is a little sad when your 8-month-old has cooler jeans that you do.
I'm thankful that it is a long weekend! Two weeks of training went by really fast and school starts on Tuesday. Reality, here I come!

Uh oh...Nicknames
We may have a problem:
The other day I was thinking about her nicknames and what we call her most often. At this point she hears the following names:
*Stinkers (Stinks, Stink Monster, etc)- by far the most popular of the nicknames
*Monster- thanks to Daddy (e.g. "Hey Monster!")
*Punks (Punkin or Punkin Head, etc.)- thanks to Mommy
*Crazy Baby- also thanks to Mommy (e.g. "Hi Crazy Baby!" in a really high squealing voice)
So it seems like at this point we need to start pumping up the *Callie* and *Callie Joys* into our habitual vocabulary so we don't end up with a 2 or 3-year-old only answering to *Stinkers*.
