Valentine’s Day

I’m struggling today. The news of the school shooting in Florida came after a particularly rough day at work. I work with high schoolers. Many of them have significant mental health challenges. It can be rewarding work, but a lot of the days it is just plain exhausting.

It is hard to describe what it is like sometimes, to people who aren’t aware of what being in the trenches of the education system is like. I’m grateful for amazingly supportive coworkers.

Anyway. It’s a tough day. But I’m thankful for these little stinkers who complied with my request to blow kisses to the camera.

Happy Heart Day.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!

Yesterday morning Callie was up at her usual time (before 7am) despite staying up past 8pm watching the Olympics Opening Ceremony the night before. Maya, on the other hand, slept until almost 9am! Luna snuggled with both of them...no matter the awake time!

We got to see Jim, Coco, Larry and Mary yesterday afternoon. A year ago we were with them all in Mexico. Alas, this year we were here, in a land about 80 degrees colder.

And I got my new favorite picture of the three girls, too. Lucy is always on the move!

The girls slept over at Auntie Cat’s house last night, so I got to sleep in a bit, and didn’t get Luna out on a walk until after 7am (usually it is between 5am and am). So we got to see the sun rise. And I kept getting glimpses of a huge gray chunk of my hair. Luckily it was just frosty from being cold...

Today we got to see our family friends Randy and Lori. They brought over their greyhound, Walter, to meet Iris. And they were adorable. We watched some Olympics with Auntie Yoda and Lucy too.

Last but not least, my pictures of the day for the weekend: February 10- 1 o’clock, February 11- Small (even though the girls often seem so big, they still really are so little still. And I’m grateful for that).

Have a great week!

A Picture Update

Happy Friday everybody.

This week kicked my butt. I don’t have many pictures. Here are the ones I’ve got, mostly of Maya, from throughout the week.

Last night Callie’s school hosted a Family Fun Night.

A coworker went to a rocks and minerals show in Arizona and brought me back these beautiful amethyst treasures.

Aren’t they beautiful?

Chris was in Texas most of the week, so it is great to have him home now.

This doggie has a new nickname: Luna-tic. She sure is sweet but she can be crazy and sassy and can get on your last nerve! But look at how cute she is on her walk. She worked so hard to be in control and not bark at bikes and people.

And I’ll leave you with my photos of the day:

February 5: Kids (the girls were not cooperating that day so I chose a throwback picture)
February 6: Happy
February 7: Create (a student made me a glittery relaxation tool)
February 8: Square
February 9: Front Door

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up: The Super Bowl Edition

Hi all!

To be clear, I could care less about the Super Bowl. But I figure I should at least mention that it is in our hometown, just for history’s sake. And since it is the coldest Super Bowl on record, the chance of it ever coming back here is probably pretty slim.  And while my younger and cooler sisters are taking advantage of all of the downtown craziness by chilling in fur coats in an igloo (true story), here we are at home in our jammies.

Anyway, yesterday’s big event was our little buddy Caleb’s 4th birthday party at a bowling alley!

As you can see, the girls had a blast. And we were in a far away suburb of one of my dear friends, Jillian, who I don’t get to see often. SoI texted her and she stopped by!

Today has been chill. Chilly, actually.

Luna has gotten so spoiled at our house. But she is still a tad bit psycho other places, like the pet store. But we finally got her a name tag!

Anyway. Our plan for the evening is to watch the Puppy Bowl and then the Super Bowl (commercials).

Here are my pictures of the day for February 3rd (Heart) and February 4th (Shadow).

Boom found a baby picture of herself, so I found some baby pictures of the three grand babies (ranging from 2 months to 9 months).

Have a great week!

A Picture Update

This crazy super blue blood moon (or whatever it was) week was exhausting! Here’s what I got and it isn’t much commentary.

Monday: Boom’s House!

Tuesday: Kindergarten Open House (what?!?!?!)

Wednesday/Thursday: G-ma and Pa’se House + Bocce and dinner with Auntie Cat!

Stoplight Sunrays:

Thank goodness January’s over. To celebrate, I’m participating in a February photo of the day challenge on Instagram. I’ll post them here too...just not daily. Here’s the daily challenge I’m using:

My first two pictures: 1. Dinner and 2. Red

I’ll leave you with Maya’s super hero alterego named Kin-Yan-Yan.

And good luck to all Twin Citizens this weekend as they endure all of the Super Bowl craziness. It will be fun to see our city represented, but holy moly it’s gonna be a little nuts and I plan to stay as far away as possible.
