A Picture Update

Things that happened this week, which all had to do with Maya.  No Callie pictures this week at all. Whoops!

1. We learned Maya is allergic to Amoxicillin, which she had been on for an ear infection a couple weeks ago (it was a delayed allergy- symptoms started 1.5 days after ending 10 days of the medicine)
2. By allergic, I mean she got super bad hives that made both nurses and doctors go "Whoa!" when they saw them. They were all over her torso, legs, and arms and she was a hot mess. So she got put on Prednisone.
3. She was a tad crazy on Prednisone.

4. The Prednisone didn't do much so it meant that the bad, itchy hives were still there for a few days. And she was a bit crazy.
5. And the Presnisone tasted disgusting so she straight up refused to take it by day 3 (of  what was supposed to be 7).
5. But then all the infections in her poor little body banded together to take out a her right hip, with something called "irritable hip" so yesterday morning she totally freaked out and couldn't walk.
6. And when blood results come back a little wonky back at the doctor's office (again), she got sent to Children's Hospital for X-rays, lots of pokes and prods, and even a hip ultrasound.

7. And she was not a happy camper. But was a trooper and eventually got a popsicle.

8. And now has to rest her "irritable hip" until a follow up appointment Tuesday morning.
9. Her hives still come and go, but thankfully she doesn't have to take Presnisone any more. Just IBProfen, Benadryl as needed, and lots of fluids.
10. And then this morning at 2:45am we were startled awake because she decided it would be a good idea to come downstairs, climb up to stand on a chair, and put a bunch of band-aids on all her fingers. What?!?! She had refused to walk at all like the 30 hours prior to this middle of the night adventure.
11. She was ok enough today to go to Boom's house, who saved both Chris and I from having to take more time off of work.

So that was our week.

Hives and hospitals and hips. And then 2:45am bandaids.

She still got to hang with Boom and G-ma earlier in the week.

And I watched Obama's speech on Tuesday and cried.

Today she covered herself with stickers from the hospital and rallied to do a kitty puzzle at Boom's.

I ended the week in a high note, going to a fundraiser planned and executed by Mary that included fabulous African music.

So now it is the weekend and we continue our quest to tame the three-year-old for three days without driving ourselves crazy. Wish us luck!

Weekend Wrap-Up

You guys, this weekend. Our children were not awesome. Especially our newly-turned-7-year-old. Her mixture of major attitude, ridiculous selective hearing and emotional mood swings made for some very frustrating times. And then the two together- holy moly. I teach high schoolers so I know this is nothing, respectively. But it was exhausting for us anyway. We need to work on patience. And stamina.

Anyway, since the rest of January and early February is going to be crazy, so we took advantage of having a pretty chill weekend.

Yesterday I went out and ran in the cold.

It really wasn't bad once I got going. I just had nice frosty lashes when I was done.

I didn't take a single picture of the girls yesterday.  See my explanation at the top of this post for why.

Last night Jenna and I went out to dinner and to a comedy show about being a mom. It was hilarious, and a much needed night out.

Any moms with little kids out there- look up #imomsohard on Facebook or YouTube. So funny.

Today was church and then hanging out downtown with Boom, Auntie Mari and Auntie Yoda. There were dressing fancy and doing puzzles and vacuuming and watching Elliott and helping Uncle Craigles paint the baby's room.

Tonight there was "quiet time" in separate rooms, dinner, and then Maya became a hair dresser for the family.

So that's that. Let's hope this week's attitudes take a turn for the better, or we are all in for it.

Have a great week!

A Picture Update

We survived the first week back to reality after 2 weeks of holiday/birthday/unstructured craziness.

And I'm exhausted.

And I don't have too many pictures either. We played around with Snapchat for a bit.

And went out for pizza and "pasgetti".

Callie is still rocking the "pepperoni with light sauce and NO cheese" pizza order.

Our go-to activity before bed these days is singing and dancing to "Moana." Observe:

The sun-ups and sun-downs have been particularly pretty this week. I finally caught a picture of the sunset this afternoon from the preschool parking lot.

Photos don't really do justice, but the sunrays are there.

Tonight...well...let's say it was early bedtime and we were all just thankful we made it to Friday evening.

And that's all I got! Have a great weekend.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday.

This weekend was a bummer, as I was plagued by a bad head cold and Maya was recovering from her ear infection. I was down for the count most of yesterday, so Chris took the girls to play with the Wicks kids. They watched a 3D movie!

I got to snuggle with Maya a little bit before bed, and got the only celebratory New Year's picture.

Don't we both look thrilled?

No one in our house made it to midnight. Though I was up blowing my nose at 11:55pm, so maybe I did. But didn't acknowledge it in the slightest.

Today was pretty chill as well. We went to my mom's in the morning/early afternoon and then hung out at home.

They were in their jammies all day.

And with all the crabby and sickness happening we decided to do a movie night around 5:00.

Chris is at the Wolves game, so it was me and the girls for bedtime.  We tried to get some energy out because they had WAY more than me, and it ended in tears, as usual.

Back to work tomorrow for me, while Chris and the girls have one more day off.

As for resolutions, I didn't choose a new word or phrase, but set a goal that in 2017 I will always be in 5K running shape, and will run at least 10 races (5K or longer) throughout the year. I signed up for my first 5K on January 28th! It's gonna be chilly.

Have a great first week of 2017!
