Weekend Wrap-Up

These weeks are flying by.  It is hard to believe it is almost mid-March.

We had a nice weekend.  I went for a run (back to my usual sunray spotting spot) and then the girls and I spent time outside on Saturday morning.

Sunrays during a 5 mile run.

I spent most of the walk chasing them.

As you may remember from my blog post from yesterday, we had a birthday party for Kona at G-ma and Pa's house.  It was nice to spend time outside, have a delicious dinner and walk during a beautiful sunset.

Today I met my friend Amanda for coffee and FINALLY met her baby Peter!  He is almost 6 weeks old and adorable.

Then, since I *think* we are finally over all the sickness from the past few weeks, we were able to see some friends for lunch.  Jenna, Andy, Charlie, Mabel and Sylvia all came over for a long overdue play date.

Tonight my mom, sisters and I went to church, dinner and then Paint Nite for our monthly girls night out event!

The painting was titled "Andromeda Flower" and we all think they look better from afar.... ;)
Have a good week!

Happy Birthday Kona Hope!

THIS GIRL IS TEN YEARS OLD TODAY!

It was a beautiful day so she was able to bask in the sunshine- one of her favorite things to do.
That's like SEVENTY in dog years.

For fun, here are the itty bitty baby pictures of Kona from (almost) ten years ago.  They were taken by the breeder, and can be found in my Kona Hope scrapbook.

I. Can't. Even.  SO CUTE.

Almost every year on Kona's birthday we have had a birthday party for her that always includes DQ Ice Cream cake.  She doesn't get any, but it is a great excuse for us to get some.

Kona was an "only child" for 3 years.
And then her world was invaded by a little one.
And then that one got bigger and another little one arrived.

Now they are both big and Kona has a white face.

Kona now lives with G-ma and Pa full time, and has for most of the past year.  We are all very lucky that she gets so much love and care from them, and we can still see her often.

Callie recently wrote about Kona for an assignment at school.

There you go "CYOOT" Kona.  Happy Birthday!

A Picture Update

Happy Friday!

It feels like spring...but I don't fully trust it yet.  I'm hoping that we're done with the cold, but we have also gotten snow in past Mays, so who knows!

This has been quite the week.  Here are some pictures:

After getting home after bedtime on Sunday night, we had to do our usual rushed morning routine on Monday morning.  Thankfully, Callie didn't have school on Monday and Tuesday, so both girls got to go to Boom's house on those days.

A downtown adventure!
On Tuesday we went out to dinner with the girls...it was good to enjoy time just the four of us.

Contrary to Callie's big smiles, she was not feeling well earlier this week.  So I took her into the doctor on Wednesday morning.  She had strep, among other bodily function issues (that I won't go into now that she is 6...she is just too old for me to share all those details to the Internet now).

She was a CHAMP at the doctor, so we went to get an ice cream treat later in the afternoon.  Also, she was wearing ice cream jammies.

"Mom, do I have any ice cream on my face?"
The other thing I forgot to mention was that Chris was out of town for work Wednesday through today.

I stayed home with Callie the rest of the day on Wednesday, but she was feeling much better and was able to go to school on Thursday.  I picked the girls up and once we got home we spent most of the rest of the evening outside.

Hooray for sunshine!
On Thursday night, Callie attempted to read Maya a book.  As usual, Maya's attention span was about as long as a mosquito's.

Today was lovely.  Maya hung out with Boom and was, as usual, adorable.

After work the girls and I walked to the park, where we had a blast running around and they showed off their skills.

And then Chris got home right in time for bedtime.

And then he and I ordered Chinese takeout and vegged out.

Perfect Friday night.

Weekend Wrap-Up: The Arizona Edition!

Hello! Happy Sunday. I am currently writing this post from the Phoenix airport, though it will not be posted until we are back home.

Chris and I were lucky enough to get away for the long weekend to visit Uncle Jim and Aunt Coco in Scottsdale. The girls were happy to spend time with G-ma, Pa, Auntie Cat, Auntie Yoda, and Auntie  Mari.

We had a wonderful time soaking up sun, hiking, golfing, eating, drinking, lounging, and even playing Pickleball! Jim and Coco spoiled us big time. It was great to spend so much quality time with them. Here are some highlights:

Driving around in Jim's Corvette

Lounging by the pool

Running (very hilly running)

Eating at Horny Toad in Cave Creek (a western town)

Hiking (very hilly hiking!)

Golfing (very hilly golfing!)

Enjoying AZ sunrays

Pickleball!!

Thanks to Jim and Coco for a fantastic getaway!

The girls had a great long weekend too.  They were well taken care of by G-ma, Pa, Auntie Cat, Auntie Yoda and Auntie Mari.  Here are some highlights from their weekend:

It was so nice to be away knowing the girls were in such great hands.  We feel really lucky to have had the opportunity to get away and for us to all have been so well taken care of.

Now...back to reality!  Have a great week.

Timehop Tuesday

Hey all!

I thought I'd do something kind of fun this week for Timehop Tuesday.  I looked back at at the blog at July 2012...the time that Callie was about 31-months-old.  I thought I'd post the link to a funny blog post from that time, which is all about bedtime shennanigans.  You can find it by clicking right here!

If I compare that experience to what we do now with Maya, I have a couple thoughts.

1) Bedtime is at 7:00, despite the fact that we know she babbles to herself for awhile.

2) She gets 2 books, a sip of water, and a couple of songs from me, and then a quick goodnight kiss from Chris.  That's it.

3) We don't turn on the monitor until at least 8:00.  We figure if she is doing blood curdling screaming, we'll hear her just fine without the monitor.  And if she isn't doing that, then we don't really care what she is doing up there because eventually she falls asleep. :)

So...I can safely say that parenting the 2nd time around has made us much more low key.  For better or worse, she doesn't hold the same power over us that her big sister did.  Poor 2nd child.

On to my Timehop pictures:

Bath time Callie.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hi Everyone.

We had a weekend of sickness at our house...at least with our eldest.

So far it hasn't moved its way to the rest of us yet (*knock on wood*), but I'm hoping that since I have been sick with a bad cold the past week, and Maya was sick a few weeks ago, that we'll all just avoid it. Wish us luck.

I took a lot of selfies with Maya this weekend. She is just too darn cute.

Maya and I met up with Boom, G-ma, Pa and Auntie Cat for a walk yesterday afternoon.

I went for a run outside for the first time since last fall. It felt pretty good.

The rest of the weekend was just bumming around and running some errands.

I'll leave you with a series of videos I took of Maya while we were in the car waiting for Chris and Callie to join us. This girl is hilarious.

Have a great week.  Enjoy Leap Day and the beginning of March.  I, for one, am excited to enter a more spring-like month.

Update: This was the end of our weekend.  Appropriate.
