HAPPY THROWBACK THURSDAY!
This week I have three throwbacks for you.
We moved baby Callie into her new car seat about a month before Maya. That poor 2nd baby had to deal with the baby bucket seat until her sister was big enough for the new booster seat.

Scooter-ific
Callie doesn't have the greatest gross motor skills.
She has had a bike with training wheels for a couple years now, but hasn't really figured it out yet.
She isn't the best at catching or throwing things.
And (until this week) her scooter skills were snail-paced.
But a couple of days ago she was sort of able to figure it out, and I got an adorable video to prove it.

She never lasts very long when trying out the activities, but she's figuring things out slowly but surely. And it is so fun to watch her do it.

Weekend Wrap-Up
After the whirlwind few days in Chicago, we had a low-key weekend. It was lovely.
Saturday:
*Playing at home and outside
*Running errands (we LOVE Trader Joe's!)
*Cleaning out my car and trying out new car seats (I'm pretty sure Maya is pooping in that car seat picture...that's why she looks so perplexed. She's a serial car pooper...90% of her poops happen in the car on the way somewhere...very convenient)
*Hanging out at the condo with Boom, Bops, Gi-Gi, Auntie Yoda and Auntie Mari
*Callie: typing people's names on the computer, not really helping Bops shuck corn
*Maya: hanging out with Gi-Gi
Sunday
*Enjoying the PERFECT weather outside
*Playing with the neighbor kids
*Trying out pigtails in Maya's hair, to which Callie said: "That is the most ridiculous hair I have ever seen." I guess the world is not quite ready for baby pigtails.
Running update: My goal this week was 15 miles and I did 18.75. I ran 10.5 miles today (in 2 shifts- 7.2 miles this morning and 3.3 miles this evening). My goal this week is 20 miles, with an 11 mile long run this weekend.
I think I'll be ready for my race. It is coming up fast, which also means summer is going too fast. And a certain baby is going to turn 1-year-old in 10 days and that is crazy. CRAZY.

That One Time I Met Sara Bareilles in Chicago
I'm not sure if you remember, but for my birthday Chris put together an involved week-long scavenger hunt that culminated in me finding out he was going to send me on a girls trip to see my favorite singer, Sara Bareilles, whenever she went on tour again (see favorite thing #7 from this post).
Shortly after that, Sara announced tour dates for her "Little Black Dress" tour.
We narrowed it down to the July 10th show in Chicago (the first stop on her tour) and patiently waited for a couple of months.
It was SO so so so SO so so so SO so so so fun.
Here's why:
1) We went out on the town both nights (and took elevator "selfies" to prove it). The first night we went to an delicious Mexican restaurant and then to a dueling piano bar. The second night was the "Little Black Dress" concert- and we all brought along a LBD for the occasion.
2) I got to run in a new city with awesome city views.
3) The view from our room at the Hard Rock Hotel was pretty sweet.
4) We had PERFECT weather to do the touristy stuff that we wanted to do: Millenium Park, The Bean, Taste of Chicago, etc.
5) We had some awesome drinks, ate Giordano's pizza, and found a roof top bar with a pretty cool view.
6) We went to an UNBELIEVALBE sold out Sara Bareilles concert wearing little black dresses.
(I took a couple of quick video clips of a couple of my favorite songs that I was going to share, but unfortunately I was also belting out the songs (very off-key) at the same time and that is just not something anyone needs to hear. Ever.)
7) WE MET SARA BAREILLES.
A lot of people may be wondering how the heck that happened. Let me explain. After the concert we went to the roof top bar I mentioned earlier to get some appetizers and drinks. We stayed there for a little over an hour and then decided to head back to the hotel. As we were walking back, we noticed her tour buses were still by the theater and a small crowd of people (mostly teenaged groupies and their parents) out there waiting. So we decided to wait too. After about 45 minutes they got everyone lined up, she came out and either took pictures or signed autographs for everyone waiting. She was so nice and sweet, and even commented on our little black dresses. It was crazy and awesome.
8) All good things have to come to an end, so we took one last elevator selfie yesterday morning on our way to the airport. After two nights of staying out WAY later than we do in our normal lives, we were super tired and looked like this (just slightly less glam than our previous elevator selfies, right?):
So a BIG HUGE GIGANTIC thank you to Chris for coming up with this idea (and funding it!), and to Jenna and Bethany for making the trip SO MUCH FUN.
We have already decided to make some sort of girls trip like this an annual thing.

Weekend Wrap-Up
Hello again!
Four days in a row of posting. Whew. I guess I have done that before, but maybe because there is a certain 4-year-old in our house that is making everything exhausting, it seems like overload. I hope it doesn't feel like that to you if you are reading it.
Oh yeah, our 4-year-old? We decided to do a little experiment. A GLUTEN experiment. Let's just say the experiment failed and we reaped the consequences this weekend (we gave her small amounts of gluten every day this week to see what would happen...the change was gradual, but by the weekend she was definitely under gluten attack). So, lesson learned. Curiosity satiated. We'll keep going with the gluten-free lifestyle (for her...I have gone back to gluten for a short period of time because I'm going to Chicago this week (yay!) and have to eat the deep dish pizza there).
Anyway, despite the crazy behaved preschooler, we weren't home much this weekend. Too many fun things to do and family to see.
Saturday
I did my long run downtown again. It was lovely. It actually was. It didn't feel too bad and I could have kept going. It is amazing what your body can do if you train faithfully.
We also went to the farmer's market, out to lunch, to the park, and hung around the condo.
We got home with about an hour before bedtime, so...WATER FIGHT!
Sunday
Today was another day bopping around. We went to church and back to the condo for some more family time...then went to hang out with Auntie Cat.
The girls now love to "wrestle" each other- but Maya usually schools Callie every single time. Today was no exception.
And I'll leave you with sweet pictures of the girls. No matter how cranky and crabby and unreasonable they get, they are seriously the sweetest things on the planet.
