Weekend Wrap-Up: Happy Anniversary MorMor and Bops!

First, and most importantly, MorMor and Bops celebrated their 35th Wedding anniversary today!

Yesterday was busy: farmer's market, shopping, dog park (we found a caterpillar), visit to G-ma and G-pa's house (hooray for the pretty garden and fountain).

Today we went to the Twins game with our friends Andy and Jenna (sans toddlers). Thanks to Chris for his usual I'm-Going-To-Mess-Up-Your-Picture face. He knows by now it goes on the blog anyway...haha.

Then we hung out at the condo and went to dinner to celebrate the big anniversary. As usual, fun was had by all, but only one was well documented.

Tomorrow is the first official start of Summer Vacation. Throughout the school year I spend a lot of my time doing things for other people and other people's kids. But this summer I have made a few goals for MYSELF for the next 2.5 months:

1) Learn Spanish (weekly Spanish classes with Cathleen!)
2) Attempt(healthy)cooking (regular workout/cooking dates with friend Bethany)
3) Train for another Half Marathon (registered for one on August 21st)
4) Lose 5-10 pounds (see 2 and 3)
5) De-clutter our house (and make our office into another playroom)
6) Enjoy every second with my toddler
7) Soak it all up because it is going to go WAY too fast

Summery Poetry

An Acrostic Poem

Sitting outside
Under the golden sun
Mommy and toddler
More time together
Ecstatic
Relaxed and happy

A Haiku

Walking in the woods
Kona and Callie, Sisters
Mom and Daddy too

A Limerick

We're starting to see the sun,
And school is finally done,
Look, Mommy, Look!
I love my red book!
Can't wait for 2 months of fun.

LC

The weather this spring has been nuts all around the country. And it has been no exception here. It was about 105 degrees 48 hours ago. Right now it is 65 degrees. 48 hours ago Callie was wearing this:

And we were stuck inside, much to the chagrin of 2 girls in our house.

Today, since it is 40 degrees colder than Tuesday, I got to pull out the new Luther College sweatshirt that we bought at Mari's graduation...and took the opportunity to do a little matchy-matchy with Mommy while hanging out outside.

It is a size 2T...how is it possible that Callie is (almost) big enough for sizes that don't involve a number of months?

Video of the Week

Remember this? Well not much has changed. Callie LOVES to watch her own videos.

This video, taken on Bops' birthday, seems to be her favorite now. She can't stop smiling and giggling when she watches it. Over and over and over and over...

Thankfully we've taken control of the meltdown situation AFTER watching the videos. All we have to do now is tell her to say "Bye bye computer" and she'll say "bye" and wave. Done.

Weekend Wrap-Up

As far as weekends goes, this one was pretty awesome.

Saturday was B-U-S-Y. We left the house at 8:45 am and didn't get home until 6:30pm. But it was all worth it! We started the morning participating (with all of our available in-town family members) in my school's first annual 5K! I made it the whole way pushing Cal in the jogger...and it was HOT. But so fun.

After the race I had a quick lunch and at G-ma and G-pa's house and then Cathleen and I headed to Spanish class! We'll be taking it once a week all summer. I'm very excited. :)

Right after Spanish class we headed across the city to see my dear friend and college roommate Melissa...and we got to meet her 8-month-old son Teddy! She lives in New York so it was a very special treat to see them. And in true baby/toddler form, it was rather challenging to get good pictures. But we tried.

Today was much more low-key. I survived a 5.5 mile run this morning and then got to meet Melissa for a baby-free lunch so we could actually have a conversation...unlike yesterday when we were both totally distracted by little ones. :) And Daddy and Callie got to hang out at G-ma and G-pa's house for a little bit.

We went on a walk this afternoon so of course I snapped a few cute pics.

I'm just 3 more student days and 2 teacher work days away from SUMMER VACATION!!!

Birthday Dinner

We had a lovely birthday dinner and playtime for my dad's birthday tonight.

With having cake back at our house, MorMor, Bops and Mari got to witness "Crazy Callie" time that happens right before bed. Though, from Tuesday's post, you'd think that "Crazy Callie" time happened ALL the time. And you'd be mostly right!

Happy Birthday Bops!

We love you!
