MEA Week Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday! It was MEA week, so the girls had Wednesday-Friday off and I had Thursday-Friday off.

Also, this week our front tree color was amazing!

The girls went to Boom’s house on Wednesday for a change of scenery on their first day off.

We had a rocky start on Thursday morning, with cleaning up, packing and getting on the road by 10am. As you can see, I was the only one in the car on time.

But eventually we got going and headed to our destination…the Wisconsin Dells! The trees were pretty on the drive.

We got there around 1:30pm, so we had a couple hours to kill before checking into our resort. We spent those couple hours at Wizard Quest- going on interactive quests, solving puzzles, finding hidden objects, etc. It was like playing a live action video game.

It was weird, but we had a blast!

We checked into our room at Great Wolf Lodge and went to collect the candy lantern and “glam ears” that were part of our stay. Then, of course, we had to try out the water park for a bit before dinner!

We went to dinner at at a Mexican restaurant called Mexicali Rose, were the girls got kids margaritas! Maya continued to rock the glam ears.

After dinner it was already pretty late, so we headed back to the hotel for bedtime.

On Friday morning I went out for a run and saw the back of the “Howlin’ Tornado” water slide…more on that later.

Then it was time for our first family style breakfast, complete with cinnamon rolls, fruit, pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs and potatoes!

We had a little time before the water park was open, so we hit up the arcade.

Then it was 10am and we were ready for water park fun…including all of us going on the Howlin’ Tornado. It was TERRIFYING but the girls loved it and went on many more times on their own! From behind you can see it is a straight shoot down and then a big open cone where your raft flies back and forth until you reach another slide down to the end.

They enjoyed more time in all the different water park sections, and the picture below on the left was as good of a photo as I was going to get when I asked the two of them for a quick picture. We then changed and went out to lunch at a restaurant that delivers your drinks and food via model train. We stopped at a very cute little weird candy and trinkets shop, and I found a little pin with my name on it…spelled correctly! At only $2.99, I had to get it, of course!

Then it was time for a ride on a Wisconsin Duck! The weather was lovely and the colors were beautiful.

We had some quiet time when we got back, and then went out to eat at a Mac and Cheese shop with the Johnson’s! They also were staying at Great Wolf Lodge for the weekend.

Once again, it was an early night in.  We were all exhausted after our busy day.

On Saturday morning we did breakfast, had more arcade fun, and I got a massage. It was supposed to be  a basic 60 minute massage, but the masseuse got mixed up, so instead it was 90 minutes and included cupping! It was quite the experience (in a good, albeit weird way, and my back is covered with red circles from the treatment).

Anyway…we spent most of the rest of the day back at the water park! The girls and Chris went on many many water slides, got drenched by big buckets, got clobbered in the wave pool, ate a VERY expensive pool-side lunch, and did it all again over and over for nearly 6 hours. I just did laps every once in awhile and had plenty of time to read my book.

Again...so many slides. So much time in the wave pool. Then we needed some quiet time back in the room and then decided to just order in pizza and watch Dancing With the Stars. Another early night!

Today we went to breakfast, packed up and stopped back at the fun little shop we went to on Friday before heading home to Luna!

This afternoon Maya and I went on a rollerblade/walk and found some fun Halloween houses.
