Weekend Wrap-Up

First up, I want to say thank you for all of the love and kind words we have received since yesterday. In case you missed it, we had to put Kona down yesterday morning. It wasn't a hard decision, because she was clearly in pain and uncomfortable, but it was still very sad. The girls are aware and are processing the information the best they are able to at this point.

They got some good distraction yesterday by going to another county fair with G-ma and Pa.

Later we hung outside, went to a park and Maya did some dancing.

Last night Craig sent me this beautiful sunray picture- for Kona.

This morning we got dressed up to go watch Boom play her flute at a different church downtown.

Callie requested curly hair, so we have the same hair do!

My favorite song came on in the car, so we got a little goofy.

Did you notice the red lipstick?  Holy moly.

Then we spent the rest of the day downtown, and even got Izzy's! Oh, and we got to play with Missy Elliott a little bit.

And there was some hill rolling.

Two weeks left of summer, you guys. Two weeks.

Kona Hope

Sad news from the Gosselin household today...we had to put our sweet Kona Hope down.

She has been our dog for most of our life together- we got her as a puppy 9 months after our wedding.

(Front page of her puppy scrapbook I made years ago)

We loved having a "fur baby" before having our human babies.  And Kona was even part of the first baby announcement and so sweet during the pregnancies.

In the past 6 years, she has been an incredibly patient "big sister" to two little humans who adored her.

After my dad died, Kona went to live with G-ma and Pa full time, and we were all so lucky that they were able to give her the love and care that she needed the last 15 months of her life.

We feel so fortunate to have had her a part of our family for over a decade.  She was the sweetest, silliest, naughtiest boxer, and the best butt wiggler in the business.

We'll miss you Kona Hope.

A Picture Update: Summer, Week 9

Happy Friday!

It has been quite the week.  I think this picture sums it up:

These girls have been AT EACH OTHER and ON EACH OTHER and BUGGING EACH OTHER all. dang. week.  And consequently, ME.  They've been bugging ME all dang week.

I think it is good that fall is approaching because I think we need some structure again.

Anyway.  Here are the pics from the week.

A different park on Monday:

I had an all day workshop on Tuesday so I have no pictures.

We played with the Helds on Wednesday.  Auntie Cat came over on Thursday.

Yesterday was pretty ridiculous with behavior, attitudes, etc., so by 4:30pm we were playing school and I (the "teacher") was self-medicating with a little cocktail while on the job.  And in case you can't see what one of my darling students wrote, it says "A spoiled mom lives here."  I will be frank in the fact that I felt no type of spoiled most of this week (even though I know in reality I very much am).

Last night we attempted to do some mini-golfing that I had a Groupon for, and it was pretty much a disaster.  Maya cried and/or refused to hold the putter for the first few holes so I took her to the park nearby instead.  She doesn't appear to be destined for LPGA greatness, but Chris still has Callie to keep the dream alive.

This morning Uncle Dan took the girls to Minnehaha Falls, and they had a great time.

While they were gone, I got to go to Target BY MYSELF and it was lovely.

Tonight was movie night and then puddle jumping in the rain.

Have a great weekend!

A Video Update

Hey!  It's Monday!

I haven't posted any videos for awhile, so I thought I'd post some cute ones I have taken the past couple weeks.

The first one is from Callie jumping off the dock at Gunflint.

Then we have the girls singing to Auntie Cat for her birthday.  Usually the birthday videos are Callie singing and Maya looking around or totally ignoring the song, but this time, she sang!

Then we have the girls spinning on the tea cups.

Next we have Charlie and Callie reading together (HEART MELT).

And lastly, the girls doing baby dance.

Hope you enjoyed the videos!

Week Wrap-Up (Summer, week 8)

Hey all!  It has been a BUSY WEEK!!!!

It all goes back to last Sunday, when we took the girls to the zoo and amusement park.

And then we helped Auntie Cat celebrate her birthday with pizza and games by the lake.

On Monday we did obstacle courses at the park.

On Tuesday we went to the pool, hung out at home, and hung out with Kona.

On Wednesday we hung out at Boom's house and downtown.

On Thursday my mom, sisters and I headed to Milwaukee for my cousin Emily's wedding.  The girls hung out with G-ma and did lots of fun things.

On Friday my mom and I went out early to exercise by the lakefront near our hotel and then had a delicious breakfast.

Chris dropped the girls off with G-ma and Pa to have a sleepover and headed to Milwaukee for the wedding.  The girls had another fun day!

As for the wedding, Emily was a BEAUTIFUL bride, Donald and Frederick were adorable little hot dog "Bubble Boys," and we got to hang out with family.

Look at them...aren't Emily and Pat cute?  They had a picture of my dad at the reception site.  And my mom and Amy? Adorable.  And we managed to get a Henderson/Johnson selfie on the dance floor!

And then there was the photo booth.

Yesterday Chris and I drove the 5 hours home while the girls went to a county fair with G-ma and Pa.

Once we got home, we spent the afternoon watching the OLYMPICS!!!!  So exciting!

Today we got some stuff done.  Cleaning.  And, scariest of all, we converted Maya's crib to a big girl bed.

And then she snapped off one of the side rails during her nap and I set up her pack 'n play.  So, we still have some work to do.

Have a great week!
