Weekend Wrap-Up: Lower Turtle Lake Part 1!

Hey all! We had a great weekend at an Airbnb cabin near Turtle Lake, WI. On Lower Turtle Lake, to be specific. On Friday afternoon we packed our car to the brim and made it in time for some lovely wine time on the deck.

We picked up pizza for dinner and then headed down to the dock for some evening fishing.

On Saturday morning I woke up for a lovely sunrise run. The cabin is a quarter mile from beautiful farmland, so there were many different sights to see.

The others were still sleeping so Luna and I had quiet time on the deck until Maya woke up and joined me.

We had a relaxing morning of ping pong and hanging out at the cabin. Callie and I walked up to see the farm.

Then Uncle Dan, Auntie Hanna, Mitchell and Isla rolled in just in time for lunch! The kids played basketball and had fun in the bunk bed in Maya’s room.

It was a super windy day, so we couldn’t really get out on the lake. We decided to go to Pioneer Village and explore all the “old fashioned” things there. But first, we realized that Maya now has the same size feet as Auntie Hanna!

There were old toys, trains and tractors galore!

There were even quilts on display at the Lutheran church, and strawberry treats for sale.

It was a great afternoon!

When we got back it was wine time, but we realized that the cabin didn’t have a corkscrew opener, so we had to improvise. Pro tip: heating the cork by using a lighter at the bottleneck and then using corn holders to pry the cork out works. Then there was a little more fishing.

We made a yummy pasta dinner and ate out on the lovely deck.

Then it was time for a fire and s’mores!!

We ended the evening with a ping pong tournament. Click here for the absolute madness that ensued at the end of the tournament.

Once the kids were all in bed, there was wine on the deck and the sunset.

This morning Chris made a yummy breakfast.

And then it was time to FINALLY get out on the lake for some kayak and paddleboard time!

Then it was lunch time and some last playtime before the cousins had to leave.

It was so fun to have guests for 24 hours and we packed a lot in!

Alright, I’ll have part 2 of our cabin weekend up by Tuesday. Have a good week!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday! We had a busy fun weekend!

Yesterday we all went to Inside Out 2, which I highly recommend! And then G-ma came over to hang with the girls (and take them to DQ!) which Chris and I went to the Lynx game, where it was Pride night and we got bucket hats!

Today Maya mowed the lawn for the first time while I went with G-ma and Auntie Cat to celebrate Chris’ cousin Beth at her bridal shower!

Tonight we hung out with Mitchell and Isla, including some basement play time and going to our neighbor’s grad party (complete with Kona Shaved Ice).

Have a lovely week!

A Picture Update: Summer Week 2

Hey all!  Happy Friday!  Week 2 of summer was a busy one.

The girls helped with VBS all week, so we had to be up and out of the house by 8:15am Monday through Thursday.  I think they had fun (though claimed not to, but they were ready to go back each morning).

On Monday night Maya and I went to the Lynx game, where we got pretty close to Prowl, and saw Sylvia Fowles from across the way (more on her later).

Other things from the week...Maya and I hung out for a bit at Petco and Luna was crazy, as usual.

The weather this week was WEIRD.  It was either super humid and hot, super chilly, rainy, or somehow a combination of all three...?  But Maya and I met the Dahlen's at the pool on a hot but cloudy/windy afternoon, I went for a run on a rare sunny morning, and then did some organizing and yoga with Luna.

On Wednesday night Chris and Callie went to the Lynx game, where they got REALLY up close and personal with Sylvia Fowles...Callie met her and got a photo!  It was thrilling to get that photo sent to me on my phone.  We just LOVE the Lynx...both current and super famous and talented past members of the team!

On Thursday, while the girls finished up VBS, I finished organizing the panty and fridge.  And then Maya took some pictures that showed up on my phone.

Thursday night I went out with Laura, Jennifer and Jenna to dinner (with a blood orange margarita!) and a comedy show at the beautiful State Theater.

Maya is sleeping over at Boom’s house tonight, where they made a “Dog Adoption Center.”

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up: Happy Father’s Day!

It’s Father’ Day, a forever bittersweet day. Happy Father’s Day to my dad, to Chris, to Pa and all the other great dads, uncles and grandpas we have been blessed with.

On to the weekend. Chris and Callie went to the Lynx game on Friday night and got to meet one of the starters, Alana Smith, after the game!

Yesterday was busy and productive at home, and then the girls did some goofy dancing in the basement last night.

Today we had a great lunch at Hell’s Kitchen with Boom, Auntie Yoda, Uncle Craigles, Lucy and Mila.

Later we hosted a Father’s Day dinner with the Goose side, complete with a homemade Maya game, bbq chicken and root beer floats.

Have a good week! Stay cool (and dry)!
