A Picture Update

Happy Friday! This week came with a lot of sky events.

Chris took the girls out of school on Monday and they drove down to Cedar Rapids to see the Eclipse (in a parking lot)! It wasn’t in the path of totality, but it was a clear sky so they could see the Eclipse happen with the glasses, even though it didn’t get totally dark.

Chris sent me pics as it was happening!

Then we had a rainbow last night, covered up in the middle by some serious clouds.

And Maya had gymnastics tonight!

Have a good weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hey all!  Happy Sunday.  My spring break has come to an end, as tomorrow beings the LAST quarter of my 20th year of teaching!  So wild.

Anyway, we had a good weekend. On Friday night we stayed up very late watching the 8:30pm women's final four b-ball game.  Maya made it to almost 10pm and Callie watched the whole game!

On Saturday afternoon, Uncle Dan, Auntie Hanna, Mitchell and Isla came over for playtime and dinner. They got to spend some time outside!

Today we went to Boom's for the afternoon to watch the championship game (congrats to both teams, we loved watching it all!) and they snuck in a flute lesson during halftime.

Have a great week!

A Picture Update: Happy Birthday Lucy!!!

Hey all!  Happy Friday.

First up, it is LUCY'S BIRTHDAY today!

Happy birthday Lucy! We love you and hope you had a great day.

It was my spring break week, so I had a couple of quiet days on Tuesday and Wednesday.  I went on a couple of runs and enjoyed some pretty skies.

Then yesterday, my mom and I headed down to Decorah for a quick 24 hour trip! Our first stop, obviously, was Luther.  I hadn't been there for almost 10 years, and this May marks 20 years since my graduation.

We wandered around campus and it looked pretty much the same!

Then we went and had lunch on Water Street (La Rana...delicious!) and did some shopping in the fun shops on the street.

And, even though it was chilly and windy, we had to stop at the Whippy Dip for an ice cream treat!  We did a short little walk up to Dunning's Spring, as well.

Then we headed to a cabin, about 20 miles from campus.  It was delightful!

We made big salads for dinner and relaxed.

This morning we enjoyed the sunrise over the farmland before heading home.

This afternoon we enjoyed the sunshine.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up: The Easter in Denver Edition!

Happy Monday everybody! We had an awesome long weekend in DENVER! We flew out Friday afternoon, and got to see (kiss) a volunteer dog while we were waiting.

We got to Auntie Mari, Uncle Josh and Avery’s house by 5pm! We had a girls’ night playing and ordering in dinner, while Chris, Josh and Uncle John went to the Wolves/Nuggets bball game.

On Saturday morning I woke up early and walked to get some treats from a nearby bakery.

We hung out playing the Virtual Reality Oculus game before heading to a big park for a walk.

After getting lunch, Chris and Josh took the girls to Dave and Busters for some arcade fun.

Then we watched some girls basketball!

We ended the fun day with dinner at John and Jenny’s house with Great Margie. We did a wine tasting (Chris was our sommelier) and made homemade pizza!

The Easter Bunny came before bed, and the girls had fun waking up Sunday morning to see their big bunnies and treats.

We went to 9am church, and then they obliged me for a family photo.

We had a relaxed morning and FaceTimed Luna (and G-ma)!

It was a beautiful day so we headed outside to play and do bubbles.

John, Jenny and Margie came over in the afternoon and the girls did an Easter Egg hunt!

Then we FaceTimed with Boom, Auntie Yoda, Lucy and Mila and had an early dinner.

After dinner Mari put Avery in the dress I brought for her…one I wore as a little kid!

Then there was some more Oculus time with the fam.

It was a great Easter Day!

This morning we got up early to say goodbye to Josh, Mari and Avery, pack up and head out to spend the day in Boulder!

Our first stop on the way was a Butterfly Pavilion, where I was the only one brave enough to hold Rosie the tarantula.

Then we headed to Eldorado Canyon State Park for a beautiful three-quarters-of-a-mile snowy mountain hike.

We drive into a snowstorm while driving into Boulder, but found a place to eat and then enjoyed much nicer weather after lunch! We walked down Pear Street Mall and got some yummy chocolates (and saw a few different familiar names!).

Speaking of familiarly named places, our last stop in Boulder was at the Henderson building on campus, which houses a natural history museum.

We packed a lot into a few short days. If you want to see about 6 minutes of our shenanigans on video, click here!

We are so grateful for a wonderful trip to end the girls’ spring break and start mine out with a bang!

Have a great week!
