Weekend Wrap-Up: The Covid Quarantine Edition

Hi all.  You know how I normally say something like "How is it Sunday night already??"...that is not the case for this weekend.  It. Was. LOOOOOOONG. Ha!

Chris is doing better.  The girls and I continue to test negative...now 5+ days after our last "contact" with Chris, and 7+ days past when he was likely most contagious. I'm hoping we are in the clear...we have a lot coming up in the next few weeks, so I'm grateful this happened when it did.  We will continue to be vigilant like we have this whole time (except in the car as we were carpooling on the way to the Twins game...dang it!).  And yet it still seems like a crapshoot since I had the same close contact and didn't get it!
When I told Maya earlier this week that Chris tested positive, she said something like "I can't believe Dad got it when he is the most careful."  And that's the truth. And a lesson for us that it is still out there and continuing to be vigilant is what we need to do.

Anyway...we passed the time yesterday outside as much as we could.

Maya got a little loopy last night!

This morning the sun was peeking through the tress on my 6am walk with Luna.

We attempted to go on a walk and eat a picnic lunch with Boom, and as soon as we walked 5 or so blocks and ate our lunch, a surprise thunder storm started so we had to book it back to the car!

We ate dinner outside so Chris could join us, and afterwards the girls went to hang out on the new wall by the new fence!

Have a great week.

Summer Update: Week 4

Well guys, we made it nearly 2 years and 4 months with no Covid.  It seems like almost everyone we know has gotten it.  It finally hit our house this week.  Chris started getting a sore throat on Tuesday night, and then had a slight temp on Wednesday.  We found out we had a close contact from the Twins game, so immediately he started wearing a mask and once the fever hit he started quarantining in the basement.  He tested positive today.

So far he only has mild symptoms (just kind of blah with a slight temp, sore throat and runny nose).  The girls and I are not exhibiting any symptoms yet, and we have been testing negative for the past 2 days. We will lay low and continue testing throughout the weekend and hope that his mask wearing and quarantining did the trick.

Here are the pics from the week!

Monday, the 4th, seems like FOREVER AGO!  We had a brunch at our house with Pa, Auntie Hanna, Uncle Dan and Mitchell.  Lots of fun cousin play time was had!

Then Maya helped me make my 4th of July Trifle!

We headed to Uncle Craigles and Auntie Yoda's house for more cousin playtime and a delicious chicken fajita dinner! While all the kids were playing, the adults and tween snuck in a cribbage game.

Callie didn't have her theater rehearsal on Tuesday morning (Maya started Hogwarts Camp!) so she and I went paddle boarding.  I worked on my paddle board headstand.  It was a gorgeous morning to be out on the lake.

Later, Maya played outside with the "Harry Potter Boat" she made at camp, and I made a delicious Mango Curry Stir Fry (from Blue Apron).

These pictures have no filter...the sunset on Tuesday night was WILD.  And YELLOW.

The bulk of our new fence was completed on Wednesday!  Our new upper backyard area is so awesome.  At least Maya thinks so.

On Thursday we met Boom at the beach!

This morning I got out on my morning run a bit earlier than the sunrise, so I caught just the start of it.  Callie got her vaccine booster (woohoo!) and we spent the rest of the day holed up at home...but we did get some socially distanced family time before dinner!

I’m sure this weekend there will be lots of movies watched on my laptop in our bed the next few days, since Chris has taken over the basement along with our only TV!

Take care and have a lovely weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!  Our weekend was a combination of enjoying MN sports teams, doing yard work, and arguing with the little people in our house about cleaning up their crap.  Fun times.

On Friday night, Chris and I got to go to the Twins game in a suite for Big Dave's 40th birthday!  It was a great time and a beautiful night, that ended with fireworks.

While we were at the game, the girls enjoyed breakfast for dinner and "Master Chef Junior" back at our house with G-ma!

On Saturday, Maya and I went to Boom's house for a bit of playtime, and then we spent time outside and biking to the library.

We had dinner at the Dahlen's and the girls had a blast running around their yard doing a bunch of goofy things.

This morning Maya accompanied me on my 2.5 mile run...and we went down to the pedestrian bridge near our house.

Then there was A LOT of chores and yard work (and arguing about such things).  We ended the weekend at the Lynx game!

Have a good week and enjoy the 4th!

Summer Update: Week 3

Happy Friday!  We had another good week of summer.

On Monday Maya and I played tennis and we made pizza on the grill!

On Tuesday the girls set up a play restaurant and we went to the pool for a bit.

On Wednesday we went to the beach and did paddle boarding with G-ma!  Inflatable paddle boards are AWESOME.  I did look crazy after I deflated both of them and hauled them back to the car on my own!

On Thursday we spent the afternoon at the pool...again!  That pool pass is coming in handy!

Later, we met Uncle Dan, Auntie Hanna, Mitchell and Isla at the Centennial Lakes Farmer's Market.

Today Maya didn't have her day camp (this week was Kids vs. Wild!) so she came on my run with me.

Then she served me and Luna at her Maya's Kid Restaurant.

Auntie Hanna, Mitchell and Isla stopped by later and brought donuts!

Maya had fun playing with Mitchell and Isla.

We also enjoyed some outside time. It was a lovely afternoon!

Have a great weekend!  I can't believe it is already July.
