Timehop Tuesday

Hey all! Happy Tuesday.

First up, Callie.

Then, Maya and her squishy face:

Sisters:

Eight years ago we went on a cruise with my family. Those pictures came up on Timehop and it was a little weird to look back at them knowing all that has happened since then.  There was a picture of my mom and sisters that I stopped and stared at for awhile. And then I found a recent one, and...I guess I'm just proud of us.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hey all!  Our weekend:

Friday Night: Karoke party with the Johnson's to celebrate Amy's birthday!

Saturday: A crabby morning (kind of) cured by going to the car wash.

Saturday night: Dan and Hanna's engagement party! We all brought some sort of picture or story to share and put in a memory book. I was able to do some high school throwbacks, which was fun.  It was so great to be together with Hanna's family and celebrate the two of them.

Mari and Josh babysat the girls for us, and at one point I got this picture and the text "It's going well so far."

Sunday morning, 7:30am: A trip to Target with this one. Then later, more wrestling.

After church Callie and I went to see "Beauty and the Beast" with Boom and Mari. We loved it!!!

Tonight we got outside on a walk to get some fresh air.

And now the baby watch intensifies, as Laura and Craig head into week 39!!!!!

I'll leave you with two girls happy about pretzels.

A Picture Update

Happy Friday everyone!

This week marks week #1 of three different spring breaks in our household. Technically Maya is on break, but she is going to release day care on her normal days so it doesn't make a difference for her.  I have one more week of work and then break. Callie has two more weeks of school and then break. Whew!

This week's pictures are as follows:

Monday- Maya hung out with Boom.

And by Monday night she developed a nasty cold that kept her home on Tuesday. Chris and I split up sick duty. She was pretty darn miserable, so there was lots of resting with the iPad.

By Tuesday night she perked up a little bit.

The girls found a bunch of old glasses frames I had from a WarbyParker tryout that I never sent back (years ago). And they have been wearing them off and on since. Callie wore them to school a couple days this week too.  I definitely have NOT.

Maya hung out with G-ma and Pa on Wednesday and Thursday.

Tonight Callie had a HUGE meltdown about the temperature and texture of her macaroni and cheese.  While that would have been typical of her as a 4-year-old, not so much as a 7-year-old. So I had a hunch that something might have happened at school. When she calmed down and I asked her about it, she didn't want to talk about it but agreed to write about it.

So apparently her two friends were tackling her.

7-year-old problems are rough.

We talked through about how she felt and what she did and what she could do next time. We haven't had to deal with lots of social drama yet, and I really hope that we can use small situations like this as learning opportunities. Being a high school teacher, I see all the mean girl stuff up close and personal. And working in a K-12 school I see how young some little mean girls can be.

Anyway. Parenting is always an adventure, and you just hope and pray you aren't messing your kids up too badly.

Have a great weekend.

Update: 30 minutes later

And then you find an unsolicited apology note on your bed and think that maybe you are doing ok after all.

44-Months-Old!!!

Oh this little one.  I can't stop taking selfies with her.

So sweet. So spunky.

This week of her 44-months-old day, she got a super bad cold. Like not breathing through her nose and constant coughing up a lung cold.

Sleep has been a little rough, and for the first time in over 7 years, we have had a little person sleep in our bed for a few hours a couple nights.

But anyway, I just can't believe that she is growing out of her 3T clothes and is four months from turning 4.

Timehop Tuesday

Well, my Fitbit tells me I got 4.5 hours of sleep last night. And that seems like a stretch. Our little 3-year-old has the most ridiculous cold and can not breathe through her nose. Therefore, no sleep for 3 out of 4 members of our household. And no school for her, which means tag-teamed half days of work for me and Chris. Hopefully nap time is in our future.

Anyway, here are some Timehops. First we have our little reader (and sweet Kona).

Then, Maya in the sunlight.

And lastly, three sisters.

Also, Callie was baptized 7 years ago today! We had family pictures taken by our friend, Nik. Love it.

Weekend Wrap-Up: The Happy Birthday Daddy, Auntie Yoda, and Uncle Dan Edition!!

It's March 19th, which only means one thing: SO MANY BIRTHDAYS!

And also Elliott.  It's looking like a certain little baby has decided to not have the same birthday as so many family members, so we are still patiently waiting on her.

I did an awesome 5 mile run before 8am on Saturday morning.  On the treadmill.  I was surprised how easy it felt, and also thankful.

A little later the girls, Chris and I took a mini-road trip to Mankato so Chris could FINALLY get his Maya tattoo for his 35th birthday (he got a Callie tattoo when she was around 2).  Chris' cousin-in-law, Nate, is a tattoo artist, so we went to their house and got to see Chris' cousin Sarah and their son Carter, too!  The girls and Carter watched the magic happen for a few minutes.

The girls and I also checked out the Children's Museum.

When we got back to town we headed to Boom's place to celebrate Laura, Chris and Josh's birthdays (his is on Tuesday)!

Today, on the actual birthday, the tattoo was finally visible!!

G-ma and Pa stopped by to greet the birthday boy, and so did Auntie Cat.  Maya wrangled Auntie Cat into some sort of board game with rules that were nonsensical, but they both seemed to have a lot of fun. Later I tried to get her to cuddle with me during quiet time, but she was too much of a weirdo.

Dave, Cherilyn and their kids, plus Nate, Kaela and their kids came over for play time and dinner this afternoon.  So there were 6 adults and 7 kids 7-years-old and younger. Chris had fun snuggling with the littlest one- 6-month-old Adelay.  He was the "sleep machine" and got her to fall asleep shortly before we had cupcakes.

Overall, I think it was a successful birthday weekend.

A Picture Update: The St. Patty's Day Edition!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  The girls wore green for Nana!

I was actually with-it enough this year to buy matching shirts ahead of time.  They each had fun activities at school today...Callie got a green mustache!

It was Grandparents' Day at preschool, so Maya got to hang out with Boom and G-ma all morning!

And tonight, we had GREEN MACARONI AND CHEESE!

As for the rest of the week...Callie had Monday and Tuesday off of school, so she spent Monday with Boom and Maya, and Tuesday with just Boom.  She got spoiled!

On Wednesday we curled Callie's hair for picture day, and Maya fell asleep while playing with G-ma.

One of my new favorite pictures is of Maya kissing me on the cheek.  This girl is so sweet when she wants to be.

We met G-ma and Pa for dinner, and Pa created word puzzles for Callie to do.  She LOVES puzzles of any kind.

And we're back now to St. Patty's Day.  So here's an outtake of our photo session this morning.

We have a very busy weekend ahead of us that includes a mini-road trip, a tattoo, and celebrating FOUR birthdays.

Come back Sunday for all the details!
