Weekend Wrap-Up

Hey all!  Happy Sunday!

Let's see...our weekend.  It was pretty good.

On Saturday Cal and I went for a mile run together!  We realized that we need to get her some actual running clothes.  But she did great.  We just need to work on pacing. But she finished strong with a couple great cheerleaders waiting for her.

It must have tired her out, though, because she was SO droopy at dance class! Here she is doing her "star" test for Baby Bumblebee.  Ms. Connie asked her later if she missed nap time. ;0)

After dance I brought Callie down to Boom's house for her first sleepover at Boom's new condo! Looks like they had a blast.

Maya enjoyed one-on-one time (playing outside, going to the humane society) with Mommy and Daddy, and even requested a ponytail, just like Mom!

She is so goofy!

Today I did a pretty poor job of taking pictures, considering the girls hung out at Auntie Cat's house and we got to go on a lunch date.  But we also played outside, watched the Lynx game (with popcorn!) and just chilled at home.

Oh yeah!  Callie lost her 3rd tooth!

So the tooth fairy will come tonight.  Exciting stuff!

A Picture Update

This past month has kicked my butt in terms of battling dealing with three-year-old shenanigans vs. feeling guilty that all I have to deal with is 3-year-old shenanigans. But holy mother of guacamole I'm so exhausted. Maybe because my internal battle is so strong.

I'm currently sitting outside her room while she is screaming, refusing to wear her night time pull-up, without having her teeth brushed or pajamas on. There was so much screaming I finally had to just turn the lights out and leave, and hope that she falls asleep soon so I can get her pull up on before she wets the bed since all the screaming also prevented her from going to the bathroom before bed.

So to distract myself, here are some pictures.

Maya hanging out with Boom on Monday and Pa on Thursday. Doesn't she look adorably sweet? Good thing for her, she IS ridiculously sweet when she wants to be.

Maya and G-ma went on her preschool field trip to the apple orchard.

I went to the college fair with my high schoolers. Go Norse!

We soaked up the last of the nice fall weather at the park.

Jenna and the kids came over tonight for dinner and a movie.

And, of course, Snapchat.

Have a good weekend!

Reasons My Preschooler Yelled At Me This Week

1) I asked her to WEAR SOCKS.

2) I asked her to choose pants from the four options I gave her that were apparently NOT GOOD ENOUGH OPTIONS.

3) She asked for milk in her cereal but then wanted NO MILK IN HER CEREAL.

4) I asked her to stop playing with dinosaurs in the sink so she could EAT DINNER.

5) She couldn't find the tiny little toy she dropped in the car and I couldn't look for it immediately BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING.

6) Her quilt fell off the bed because she was moving around like a JACK RABBIT ON ESPRESSO at bedtime.

7) She had to go potty after bedtime EVEN THOUGH SHE PROMISED SHE DIDN'T TWO MINUTES AGO.

8) I pushed the handicap door button to help her open the door because it was TOO HEAVY for her to open herself.

You can't make this stuff up, folks. I hope we survive the threes.

Weekend Wrap-Up

What an amazingly lovely weekend! The weather was awesome, so we spent a lot of time soaking it in.

The girls spent Friday night at G-ma and Pa's house and had a fun campfire with them and Auntie Cat.

On Saturday morning, we took the girls to the apple orchard. It is a place that I went with my family growing up, so there were lots of fun memories
to think about. We didn't go last year- emotionally I couldn't- so it felt good knowing that healing has happened in a year. We went on a wagon ride, did some shopping, and soaked in some sunrays.

Later on we did a wagon ride to the park. So much sunshine!

We went to Boom's place today and hung out there with Auntie Yoda.

There were more sunrays...and check out this chunk monkey's serious face!

Have a great first week of October.

Cousins

So the girls keep talking about wanting a little baby brother or sister, and we keep telling them that isn't going to happen.

Lucky for them (and us!), we are still getting a new baby in the family!

Last week Auntie Yoda sent the girls on a scavenger hunt to share some exciting news.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you might be wondering about Callie's perplexed expression at the end.  I found out a few minutes later, when I talked to her quietly on her own, that she had the *ahem* wrong idea about what it meant that her cousin was in Auntie Yoda's belly.

You see, we have always referred to my cousin Andy's kids, Donald and Frederic, as the girls' cousins.

So when I explained about the baby and asked her if she had a question, or if she was confused, she quietly whispered, "I thought it meant that Auntie Yoda ATE Donald."

As in, Yoda ate her cousin Donald and he was now in her belly.

OMG.

I was able to calmly correct her and say that, in fact, it was a NEW baby cousin in Auntie Yoda's belly.  One we haven't met yet.

I think this reaction of a sweet, confused, 6-year-old is a story for the ages.

And we are all SO VERY EXCITED to welcome a BRAND NEW BABY to our family in early April.

Hooray for cousins!!!!
