Weekend Wrap-Up

It's the end of the weekend already?  If I wasn't on maternity leave I'd be freaking out a little because all of my friends from work go back for teacher week TOMORROW.  Crazy.  School year 2013-2014 will be my 10th year teaching, but I am missing the first quarter of the year to hang with my Punkin Head and Little Squish.  And am totally happy to do so. :)

On to the weekend...

Friday Night
Callie had a sleepover at G-ma and G-pa's house so she could get some one-on-one attention...and so we could get a break from the mental exhaustion that she causes us lately.  I say that with only love, of course.

While she was with G-ma and G-pa she went fishing!

While she was doing that, Chris and I had an adult (+baby) dinner with my parents.  At 8pm!  We haven't eaten out that late in a long time. Thankfully babies sleep anywhere.

Saturday
We had a not-so-good night's sleep thanks to the baby who was sleeping so well during dinner.  She seemed rather proud of herself on Saturday morning when she was, once again, sleeping.

Later that morning we headed to the Bloomington PD for their 60th anniversary open house.

Later Auntie Yoda came over and Little Squish once again proved that she CAN in fact sleep without getting fussy or screaming, because she did so for a couple of hours on Auntie Yoda.  But then she woke up as soon as she left.

This is my mad face
Sunday

This morning we headed to the Science Museum to check out the MAYA exhibit!

Then it was hanging out at home.  Boom, Bops and Gi-Gi came over to visit during nap time.  After dinner Cal played in the sprinklers a bit.

Now it is time to gear up for another week home with my girls!

Favorite-Things-Phone-Dump Friday

Happy Weekend!

After looking through this week's batch of pictures, I'm thinking that the themes of each collage from the phone dump are going to be pretty similar...here goes.

Favorite Thing #1: Maya Faces.  Seriously.  SQUISH!!!!

Favorite Thing #2: This girl
We have had our ups and downs this week.  Three-year-olds transitioning to big sisterhood are tough.  But we're working on it and when I look at these pictures my heart just melts.
Favorite Thing #3: Hanging out with this girl.
Newborns are a BREEZE compared to toddlers, so it has been fun getting to know her and doing all the baby things again.
Favorite Thing #4: More visitors:
Rachael and Stella, Nik, Baby Sylvie (with Kylie and Calvin too)

Favorite Thing #5: Outside time!  We went to National Night Out on Tuesday and Callie hung out with the neighbor kids and got some cool glow sticks from the police man.  Today we went to Centennial Lakes with Grandma.
(As for the bottom left picture, Grandma uncovered the baby long enough to snap a quick shot.  We didn't have her out in the sun like that for long.)

Favorite Thing #6: Sisters!
Callie was helping Maya with tummy time.
Have a great weekend!

Throwback Thursday

I have seen the "Throwback Thursday" thing floating around the internet.  All it does is give people an opportunity to post old pictures.  So I thought I'd start that (in my own way) by sharing an "old school" picture of Callie next to a current picture of Maya.

At this point, it will just be side-by-side baby adorableness.

Sound good?

I have two to share with you today.

The first one I made a few days ago, and all I can say about it is GO NORSE!

The second one showcases the big squishy cheeks of both the girls (and how Chris prefers to hold babies when he burps them).

So there you have it.  Throwback Thursday.

I hope I can keep track of the days of the week well enough to keep this going.

It is Thursday, right? :)

2 weeks/8 years

This little squish is 2 weeks old already.

She eats, sleeps (more during the day than at night but it is getting better), poops (blow-out style like a champ sometimes!), and really loves to cuddle.  I could stare at her cute little squishy face all day long.

The double chin is coming along nicely
We are getting the hang of getting out of the house and doing things.  I tackled the grocery store with the two of them earlier today and survived.

But a lot of the time we stay home, because things like this happen:

and it is just fun to be in our new house learning how to be a family of 4.

Speaking of family, Chris and I started our family of 2 on August 6th, 2005.

Eight years later, we are loving our life together with our girls.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hey all!

We had a jam packed weekend.  It is amazing how popular you become when you have a new baby.   :)

We had some visitors at our house (Boom and Bops, the Koch family), spent the day yesterday at G-ma and G-pa's house, went to church this morning and then spent the afternoon at Boom and Bops' house.  Maya was held by every close relative that lives in the cities this weekend: grandparents, aunts/uncle, and great-grandparents.  Lucky girl!

Snuggly babies are irresistible, obviously
At G-ma and G-pa's house, Callie had fun in the zebra pool and hanging out with Auntie Cat.

We finally brought Kona home last night, so the backseat of the car was pretty full.

This morning we all got dressed up for church, so Maya got to wear a dress for the first time.

The Kochs came over this afternoon.  Callie had fun playing with Christine in her room, and all the kids held Maya...very impressive for middle school and high school boys!  It was pretty crazy to see Christine (our Goddaughter) holding Maya- I remember when Christine was born and we went over to see her!

Other pictures from the weekend:

Saturday morning cuddles

Little Squish

Feeling relaxed after a major poop-splosion followed by an epic projectile spit-up.
When Mom was the only one home.
Fun times.
Finally...this girl has definitely not figured out her days and nights.  The pictures below were taken on Friday and Saturday night after 10pm.  And she gets herself into a tizzy around midnight, wanting to eat nonstop.

Once I'm able to get her asleep, she is up every 2-3 hours to eat.

Makes for some sleep deprivation for me, but seriously. That face!  It makes getting out of bed that often much easier.

Chris was back to work last Thursday, but this coming week will be my first full week home as a mom of 2.  We have a couple of play dates planned, and I have a couple of outings that I want to try with them.  We'll see how it goes...I'm learning very quickly that plans change and babies and stubborn toddlers often have their own agendas.  And that's okay.

It's all about patience and flexibility.  And nap time.  Thank heavens for naps.

Favorite-Things-Phone-Dump Friday

Soooo...as to be expected, the amount of pictures that I have taken on my phone has increased DRAMATICALLY this week.  Therefore, my phone dumps are probably going to be some more collages in categories to accommodate for the crazy amount of pictures.  But of course there will also be some pictures that just have to stand on their own due to the out of control cuteness factor (see favorite thing #3).

Here goes...

Favorite Thing #1: Cuddle time

Favorite Thing #2: Sister love
Favorite Thing #3: Praying feet and headbands
Favorite Thing #4: Girls' trip to the library

Favorite Thing #5: Daddy cuddles

Favorite Thing #6: Maya faces

Favorite Thing #7: Visitors!!!

Have a great weekend!!

Sisters and Squish

Two things:

1) I have had the picture below on the left in a frame on my dresser for years.  It is me and my sister Laura shortly after she was born.  Once I found out we were having another girl, I looked forward to recreating the picture with my two girls.  I gave it a shot today and it turned out pretty darn good.

Pretty cool, huh?

2) I have been trying to come up with a nickname for Maya. At first I kept calling her Punkin, but that just isn't right since that is what I call Callie.  So then I was toying with Munchkin and Peanut.  But neither of those felt right.

Then I took this picture today...

...and the only thing I have been calling her since is Squish.

I mean, look at those cheeks! Don't you just want to SQUISH them????
