The Birthday Wrap-Up

This week is so crazy with all the things going on that I figured it should just put yesterday’s birthday wrap-up in its own post! It was such a fun day!

Callie was up super early, as expected, and was done opening her presents by 8am.

We then took the BFF neighbor boys to the nature center for a fun adventure.

Then it was home for lunch, cake decorating, and some playtime.

Somehow we lucked out enough with the mild weather to have an outdoor s’mores party.

An eagle made an appearance, along with a K-9 officer who showed us some tricks with his dog!

Then there was a pizza dinner and Zoom Birthday Party with the whole fam!

Whew! What a day!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hello! Happy Sunday!

We had a very chill weekend, considering it is the weekend before Callie’s birthday and Christmas.

Yesterday I ran 5 miles on the treadmill (YUCK) and then Luna and Maya “helped” me stretch.

Then later the girls went on a hike in the woods with G-ma, Pa and Auntie Cat and I took advantage of the quiet time by listening to Christmas music, drinking a mimosa, and reading a new book!

Before dinner Maya managed to run her forehead into our kitchen table. Fun times! She is fine but had a bit of a bump and a line on her forehead, which she called a “table mark.”

We also talked to Mitchell on FaceTime for a bit and saw him wave- his new skill.

This morning I braved the cold weather for my run. I was rewarded by a pretty sunrise. The girls spent most of the day playing outside.

Our big outing for the weekend was going to Sam’s Christmas Light Show over in Wisconsin with Auntie Yoda and Lucy!

There were millions of lights!

It was quite the adventure!

Have a great Christmas week. Once again, it feels and will be so different. But we are going to be practicing gratitude and leaning on hope.

A Picture Update

Hello!  Somehow we made it to winter break.  Two whole weeks off to...stay in our house.  LOL.  We do have a few fun things planned, and a big 11th birthday on Tuesday!  So the first week of break will still be pretty busy.

Here's a snapshot of our week!

Monday/Tuesday: lots of Luna and Christmas movies

Wednesday/Thursday: outdoor exploration, diligent school-doers, sweet faces and game night

Friday: last day of school before break and driving around looking at Christmas lights

And here's what our crazy elves, Coo-Koo and Loony, have been up to!

Have a great weekend. Stay warm!  Stay safe!  Take care!

Timehop Tuesday

A year ago Chris surprised me with a trip to NYC. The window view is a bit different a year later in 2020.

And we have a hilarious history of nailing our gingerbread houses.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!

My 7am run yesterday was dark and cloudy, but still kind of cool looking.  I'm looking forward to when the sun starts rising earlier again!

To ruin the calories I burned from running 4 miles, I decided to make my mom's Christmas wreathes!  Always my favorite of her Christmas treats.

After lunch we met G-ma, Pa, Auntie Cat, Uncle Dan, Auntie Hanna, Mitchell and Shambles for an outdoor adventure.  The girls made rafts with Pa on Thursday, so it was time to put them to the test at Nine Mile Creek!

Mitchell was only mildly amused, as you can see...ha!  And there was a lot of opportunity for the girls (and the boys) to use long sticks to retrieve the rafts on their way along the river.

Unfortunately, Maya's got sucked under a large group of logs towards the end and we couldn't retrieve it.  But Callie's made it all the way down and she set her raft free at the end.  Chris enjoyed hopping the creek and then being Tarzan at the end (see video evidence).

Click here for a fun video montage of our adventures!

The rest of the day was spent celebrating the birthday doggie and watching White Christmas!

This morning the girls made a gingerbread house!

And Callie asked what to draw, so I told her to think of a good Christmas quote and make it a piece of art.  This is what she came up with!

The rest of the day was cleaning and organizing, and then a Christmas movie marathon.

And then while trying to make a delicious chicken wild rice soup, I both sliced my thumb big time and dropped a glass bowl.

Fun times! But it was delicious soup. Have a lovely week!

Happy Birthday Luna!

Our crazy doggy is 4 years old today...which means we have had her just about exactly three years. And these three are just PEAS IN A POD.

I also realized I haven’t given a Coo-Koo and Loony update for awhile. So here’s what they’ve been up to:
