A Picture Update

We made it through the first week of school!!! It was great. The girls did awesome.

In the age of social media, teachers have Facebook and Instagram pages...and I love them! Here are a few pics of the girls and their classmates from this week, directly from their teachers (mostly).

Other pictures from the week include:

Hanging out and Mall of America with G-ma!

Playtime outside and Back-to-School open house!

We ended the week watching all the hullabaloo at the football field near our house. So much activity!

Caught some pretty sunrays on the way home.

And that’s it...I have a feeling there will be lots fewer pics to share at the end of the week since I won’t get my usual picture texts from the grandparents. I’ll do my best in the evenings...but who knows! Busy times!

Have a great weekend.

First Day of School!!

Today was the girls’ first day of school, and they were ready! My first day was yesterday and so far so good (*knock on wood*)!

I have saved all the first day pics that have come up on Timehop the past few days because it is just so fun.

Look at how big Maya has gotten! Ahhh!

And holy moly our 3rd grader!

And just for fun, another round of me and Chris in Kindergarten and 3rd grade.

You guys!  Maya wore tall socks!  I wore tall socks!  It was not at all planned and I am thrilled
by the similarity!

People always say Callie is my mini-me, but look at how much she looks like her dad in this picture!

Here's to an awesome school year!

Timehop Tuesday

Happy Tuesday! I have some State Fair Timehops first...like finding G-ma’s quilts!

And State Fair toys.

And Auntie Yoda on the slide with little ones.

Lastly, just Maya and her goody face!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Summer is now truly over. I start school tomorrow, and the girls start on Wednesday. Fall is beginning. And I’m doing what I have done a few of the past number of Septembers: Cincuenta September- running 50 miles during the month. And there is another chart, because I’m a teacher and need the satisfaction of crossing every single mile off of it!

Ok to our weekend...we spent Saturday picking apples and playing at the neighbors. Maya was invited over by the neighbor boy, Isaac, and was so excited to run home after the play date.

There are two boys down the street in the girls’ grades, and they are in both of their classes this year. They have fun biking around the cul-de-sac together.

Then later, Auntie Yoda, Uncle Craigles and Lucy Lou came over for pool time and dinner!

On Sunday morning I went downtown to meet up with them again and we headed to the fair! (Chris and the girls stayed home). It POURED rain a couple times, but we still had fun!

Lucy was NOT a big fan of the yellow slide.

Later, the girls hung out with Auntie Cat and got pretty good at frisbee!

This morning we did some playing outside and then ran into Auntie Hanna at Brueggers (and Callie was completely a weirdo when I tried to get a picture)!

We also taught our children what laboring on Labor Day means. We cut down and chopped up so much freaking buckthorn.

As a reward for all the hard work, we went to Dave and Busters and played games.

And then later we had to get ice cream.

Here’s some videos from the weekend! Videos don’t normally come through on the email version of the blog, so I’m just going to give you links today to go directly to the videos on Vimeo. For some Lucy cuteness and other things, click here!

And for some DANCE PARTY VIDEOS, click here!

Have a great week! Good luck to those going back to school. It’s going to be a GREAT year.

A Picture Update

Happy Friday!

It’s a 4-day weekend for me, which is awesome. It was a busy week at work with various trainings, meetings, and getting ready for the first day of school. I fell asleep before 8:30 at least 2 nights this week!

The girls had fun with Boom, G-ma and Pa again this week.

On Monday they were downtown with the crew!

On Tuesday they went to Rainbow Playplace with G-ma.

On Wednesday they got to go to school and meet their teachers!!

They got to play with G-ma again on Wednesday.

We went downtown Wednesday night to have our final dinner with Auntie Mari. She left today to head down to Missouri. The girls put on a “comedy show” with Auntie Mari as the guest of honor. There are a lot of clips of what actually went down, and it is fairly entertaining.

They toured the State Capital on Thursday with Pa!

And then came to visit me at work for a bit.

Today we did some errands and some cleaning and then they got into dance costumes for quiet time.

Later we went grocery shopping while my bookworm read her way through the store and I BOUGHT BRUSSEL SPROUTS for the first time in my 36 years. And since it was nice and warm out, be took the opportunity to get the pools out. We won’t have many of these days left, I’m afraid.

Have a great weekend! My wrap-up will likely be on Monday night, since it is Labor Day Weekend and all. Enjoy.

Timehop Tuesday

Hey all!

First up: Maya eating corn. She loves it, and it makes me happy. It was one of my dad’s favorite summer foods.

Then, Callie and Charlie. Oh my goodness!

Lastly, the girls:

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!

We had a busy and fun weekend. We had brunch with Auntie Mari and Boom yesterday morning, and then went to the farmer’s market and did crafts.

We spent some time playing outside in the afternoon, and also went to see Boom play her flute at Central. The piano there is her old grand piano, so it is always lovely when she plays there and can play with it.

This morning the girls and I met Auntie Mari at the State Fair!

We had some yummy fair food and did some fun fair activities.

We also saw G-ma’s quilts and their ribbons! Yay G-ma!

It was great spending time with Auntie Mari...(She moves down to Missouri on Friday...?!?!).

Whenever my sisters and I went to the fair with our parents growing up, they would always let us pick out a souvenir on the way home. I kept that traditiongoing  today!

Auntie Cat took the girls for the afternoon and then fed us all dinner! Thanks Auntie Cat!

And while they were over there, G-ma and Chris did a training walk for Luna with Shambles helping out. They did not actually meet, but Luna was able to be in her vicinity without losing her mind, so that’s huge.

I’ll leave you with a Timehop Tuesday combo from the State Fair, that shows how long it had been since the girls had been there.

Anyone else think we were nuts for bringing a 1-month-old to the fair?

Have a great week!
