Colorado! (This is a loooong post!)

Callie and I are back home after a wonderful long weekend in Loveland. I was reminded again how A-M-A-Z-I-N-G our baby is! She was a total trooper and a fantastic traveler. Anyway, Callie got to meet Great-Grammy and spend time with her great-aunts and great-uncles...and MorMor, Bops and her 2 Henderson aunties of course!

We got there on Saturday morning after a successful flight consisting of a couple of naps, some milk, and playtime on Mommy's lap. Our first stop was brunch, then hanging out at Grammy and Margie's house.

Next up was going to a festival (getting a 4 generation picture!), and having a BBQ for Uncle Joe's 60th birthday (which wasn't until Monday, but we had a 3 day celebration :) )!

Sunday started out with a diaper photo shoot in the hotel and then swimming!

Our big excursion that day was driving up to the mountains! Callie spent a lot of time in her car-seat, but Laura, Mari, Margie and I were able to entertain her with singing and goofy animal voices for Chewy the Giraffe and Rocky the Ram.

The mountains were beautiful! We got up to almost 12,000 feet.





On the way back we stopped at Estes Park, found a bench, and relaxed for awhile.


Dinner that night was back in Loveland at the ever popular Steer. Callie sat in a high chair for all of 5 minutes and then needed to be entertained elsewhere. Margie started singing "Jesus Loves Me" to her and then people who were sitting at a table next to us asked to be moved. Haha!




On Monday we went mini-golfing and hung out at Grammy's house for Uncle Joe's birthday dinner.

Today was an early morning driving back to the airport, flying to MSP (a little more challenging...Punkin head peed all over the airplane bathroom while being changed and ignored a whole diaper bag full of toys in favor of 2 napkins), and getting picked up by Grandma Mary to come home.



It was a lovely trip but we are glad to be home with Daddy and Kona!

We had a nice evening at the Gosselin's last night. Callie had fun playing and seeing her Grandma and Grandpa! We sure to miss Auntie Cathleen, though, and Uncle Dan too! We're VERY excited to take a Gosselin family vacation up at Camp du Nord in August.

Callie and I are heading to Colorado early tomorrow morning for a Henderson/Ekeberg reunion! Can't wait!

6-Month Pictures

Our friend Nik's hobby is photography And that is great for us because twice now he has taken pictures of Callie/our family for us. We had a photo session on Monday. We went to my parents' condo and did some outside shots at Gold Medal Park. It was so fun, and Nik got shots that we'd never be able to get at a photography studio (e.g. Callie sitting inside a piano!). The following is a sampling of my favorites.

Yep. That is one of my 6-month pictures! Callie had a hard time being serious enough to get an exact replica of the shot, but he got a couple of great ones!

Piano Baby

Music has always had a calming effect on Callie. I have a repertoire of songs that I sing to her when I put her down for a nap or down at night ("Jesus Loves Me", "Amazing Grace", "Callie Joy" (the song I made up for her), "There's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" (yes, the song from the Disney World ride), and if I need it, "Twinkle, Twinkle".) She loves "The Wheels on the Bus" when she's awake. And now, as of last night, she's a piano player! Great-Grandma Henderson will be proud! :)

Animals, Swimming and a TOOTH!

I think Callie is going to be quite the animal lover. Any time she sees an animal she gets a huge smile on her face and starts laughing. It doesn't seem to matter which animal. Last night we were at our friends Dave and Cherilyn's house to celebrate Dave's birthday. They have a Great Dane name Odin who is 130 pounds. Callie loved him! She liked their cat Ender too.

Today we went to the pool at Town and Country for lunch and a little swimming! Callie seemed to enjoy sitting in the kiddie pool and feeling the water. The best part was getting to put her in the pink tu-tu swimming suit again...and this time we added her sunhat and (later) orange sunglasses to the ensemble! :)

It was a beautiful day to be outside (in the shade!). Later I took Kona to the dog park where she decided after about 20 minutes it would be a good idea to just lay down and not move. It was hot and she was tired, but seriously! A little embarrassing. Silly Kona. We finally made it back home after some serious cajolling and now she is nice and sleepy.

Callie is really teething now. We can feel the bottom left tooth coming through- and you can see the little tooth bud. I'm guessing that accounts for the extra naps she has been taking the past week...as well as the little extra crabbiness. :) She is becoming such a big girl!
