A Picture Update: Summer Week 5

Summer is halfway done!

On Monday the girls went to help Auntie Cat clean out all her boundary waters gear. Then we tried to go to the pool, had to exit the water for 45 minutes for severe weather, but was able to go back in.

On Tuesday we tried to go again, and before we could even take a dip, severe weather showed up and stayed (in POURED) so we left. And then Maya had gymnastics!

Wednesday was a chill day at home, making banana bread and then visiting Callie at work before eating dinner and reading on the porch.

Today we finally had a nice day at the pool while Maya hung out with Boom!

Have a good weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!

This weekend was pretty chill. Maya and I went for a run and then later I used Callie’s discount to get myself dinner before picking her up from a shift!

Today we went to Boom’s to see Auntie Yoda, Lucy and Mila, and then we tried to go to the pool (closed for a swim meet) AND the beach (absolutely packed) before ending up at home for some sprinkler basketball in the front yard.

I can’t believe we are already a month into summer. It’s going too fast!

A Picture Update: Summer Week 4

Ahhh summer is flying by! Here are the rest of the pics from the week after getting home from the cabin.
5K training started and Maya was super excited about. Ha! I went to the pool alone because neither youth in my home wanted to (unimaginable to me why you wouldn’t want to go to the pool, but whatever I made my own fun). And then we enjoyed pizza and bball.

On the 4th we went over to Uncle Dan, Auntie Hanna, Mitchell and Isla’s for lunch and then the Lynx game in the evening with Boom!

Chris and Callie even made it up on the big screen. And then we saw various fireworks on the way home.

Today Maya and I went out to the Arboretum with Auntie Hanna, Mitchell and Isla while Chris and Callie had to work.

Have a great weekend!

Red, White and ‘Tude

Happy 4th everybody!

Now that we are living with tween/teen children, Red, White and (Atti)’Tude felt more appropriate than the past 14 installments of Red, White and Cute. Sorry not sorry. But still fun to reminisce on the cute-old-days (though they are still VERY cute even as sassy youth, if I do say so myself).

Have a happy 4th!

Timehop Tuesday: Lower Turtle Lake Part 2

Hi all!

Today’s Timehop just goes back a couple days to the rest of our long weekend!

On Sunday afternoon there was a Lynx game, more deck time, and Maya and I went back out on the paddleboard.

I had some wine in the deck (again😜) and then leftovers for dinner while watching Star Wars! The sunset sunrays were doubled with a reflection on the water through the trees.

On Monday morning I took Chris out to a spot in the middle of farmland with a river and he did some fly fishing. Back at the cabin, I enjoyed my morning coffee and later Callie did a little paddling while I read on the dock (after drying off from having to rescue the paddleboard from blowing off the dock in the VERY weedy water…)

We played some games during lunch and then Chris and Callie had to head back home because she got a job! Her first training shift at Lunds happened from 3-7 so Maya, Luna and I were solo at the cabin for the rest of the day. We tried to go out on a kayak adventure, but it didn’t last long because the wind was strong.

So the rest of the day was for reading (mostly me), running around, kayaking, playing and basketball (Maya).

Chris and Cal got back around 9pm last night and then it was pretty rainy this morning so we packed up and headed home around 10:30. With a very tired dog.

I had the intention of getting a family photo this weekend and it just didn’t happen! If you couldn’t tell, I am learning that teens/tweens are really sassy about getting their picture taken. Ha! But we had a fun long weekend and are now back to reality.

Weekend Wrap-Up: Lower Turtle Lake Part 1!

Hey all! We had a great weekend at an Airbnb cabin near Turtle Lake, WI. On Lower Turtle Lake, to be specific. On Friday afternoon we packed our car to the brim and made it in time for some lovely wine time on the deck.

We picked up pizza for dinner and then headed down to the dock for some evening fishing.

On Saturday morning I woke up for a lovely sunrise run. The cabin is a quarter mile from beautiful farmland, so there were many different sights to see.

The others were still sleeping so Luna and I had quiet time on the deck until Maya woke up and joined me.

We had a relaxing morning of ping pong and hanging out at the cabin. Callie and I walked up to see the farm.

Then Uncle Dan, Auntie Hanna, Mitchell and Isla rolled in just in time for lunch! The kids played basketball and had fun in the bunk bed in Maya’s room.

It was a super windy day, so we couldn’t really get out on the lake. We decided to go to Pioneer Village and explore all the “old fashioned” things there. But first, we realized that Maya now has the same size feet as Auntie Hanna!

There were old toys, trains and tractors galore!

There were even quilts on display at the Lutheran church, and strawberry treats for sale.

It was a great afternoon!

When we got back it was wine time, but we realized that the cabin didn’t have a corkscrew opener, so we had to improvise. Pro tip: heating the cork by using a lighter at the bottleneck and then using corn holders to pry the cork out works. Then there was a little more fishing.

We made a yummy pasta dinner and ate out on the lovely deck.

Then it was time for a fire and s’mores!!

We ended the evening with a ping pong tournament. Click here for the absolute madness that ensued at the end of the tournament.

Once the kids were all in bed, there was wine on the deck and the sunset.

This morning Chris made a yummy breakfast.

And then it was time to FINALLY get out on the lake for some kayak and paddleboard time!

Then it was lunch time and some last playtime before the cousins had to leave.

It was so fun to have guests for 24 hours and we packed a lot in!

Alright, I’ll have part 2 of our cabin weekend up by Tuesday. Have a good week!
