Weekend Wrap-Up: The North Pipe Lake Cabin Edition!

Happy Sunday everybody!  We have had a fun and BUSY few days!  It all started on Thursday afternoon. We picked up Boom and Iris for a GIRLS GETAWAY!  We rented an Airbnb cabin in Comstock, WI.  We packed a very full car and stopped in St. Croix Falls on our way (and got some treats, of course).

We arrived at the cabin about 3pm and got all settled in.  The girls were very excited about the room with the bunk beds, Iris loved the bed by the windows, and we LOVED the view!

Of course we headed straight down to the lake.  It was very deep off the dock, but that didn't stop the girls (and me) from getting on the floaties and jumping in the water!

That night we made Gymnastics Pasta for dinner. I happened to remember on the way that I forgot to pack the spaghetti I was going to bring...but the candy shoppe we stopped at sold fancy pasta!  Then the girls relaxed (and did cartwheels) in the cabin.

After dinner we played the Meme game outside and the girls and Boom watched a show on the iPad before bed while I enjoyed the sunset on the hammock.

On Friday morning the girls were up early.  They went down to the dock for a bit and we went for a walk in the woods.

Then Cal and I went out on the lake in the double kayak!

While we waited for the sun to hit the dock we played Horseshoes, enjoyed the yard, and had lunch.

After lunch it was LAKE TIME!  This time we got out the big float and the girls (and Boom) had A BLAST on it!  See the video later for evidence. It was a hit! They also did some swimming (because we bribed them with money...ha!).

As we were trying to get the big float out of the water, I managed to drop my phone in the lake.  Thankfully, it was in the shallower part and I was able to recover it after a few minutes.  But my face and drink below conveyed my feelings about the situation.  Thankfully I had a back-up device to continue taking pictures of our evening fun!  Including...a campfire and s'mores!

On Saturday morning I went for a walk and enjoyed the beautiful sunrays.

We spent about a half hour in the lake before packing up and heading out. 

Callie was VERY sad about leaving and has a good mad face about it.  On the way back we stopped in Lidstrom for lunch and ice cream!

It was an awesome little getaway and just what we all needed before the busy fall starts soon.  Click here for a video of all our fun!

This morning I ran 8 miles.  I caught the sunrise coming up over Normandale Lake and it was lovely.  

Then we had Mitchell and Isla at our house for the day!  It was VERY fun and VERY busy!

We ended the weekend with an hour at Bush Lake.

A Picture Update: Summer ‘21 Week 9

Week 9???? HOW??????? How did that happen????? I’m coming at you a little early this week. It was a pretty chill week, so I don’t actually have too many pictures.

On Monday morning we headed right to the beach! The girls had fun making their own Artistic Swimming routine.

On Tuesday we did more CLEANING. It was exhausting but I’m so glad we did it.  The upstairs rooms were just so overwhelming. But we worked together and made it happen.

Maya had another gymnastics class!

On Wednesday we went to see Boom and Mila!!!

I made a delicious new pasta recipe and we went on a family walk/roll.

The sky was beautiful on my morning run on Thursday.

Ok, guys. I have a really fun Timehop for you today. It started as this:

So obviously I sent that to the Gosselin group chat, and then had to find Maya as a toddler at the Camp DuNord beach so I updated the pic:

AND THEN. Awhile later, Pa sent the group chat a PROJECTOR VIDEO of the twins as 2-year-olds at the beach at Camp DuNord. OMG! So I took a screenshot and now I have this epic Timehop that spans 37 years:

A Picture Update Summer ‘21 Week 8: The 16th Anniversary Edition!

Hello!  Happy Friday!  Today happens to be our 16th wedding anniversary, so I went through and found some pictures of our 16 year (more like 20+ year) journey together.  From high school (1998ish), to college (2002ish), to our wedding in 2005...we look like babies!

Then there were the childless years (plus Kona)...

...and then our babies!

We look older, hopefully wiser, and just as happy now. It has been quite a challenging past 1.5 years but I think we can both say we feel like we have made it through stronger together. 

On to our week!  It was another busy one.  Boom took the girls to swimming lessons, and then on Monday afternoon we went to play some tennis and get some ice cream.

Later we watched Artistic Swimming and I had to do a comparison from the girls at the lake from the weekend, because they could finally watch what they were trying to do in the water.

I had a nice 5 mile run on Tuesday morning in my favorite socks. Then the girls played outside and made a quadruple stroller out of double strollers...always imagining!

Maya finally had her first gymnastics class and SHE LOVED IT.  

I had another nice run on Wednesday morning, and then the girls and I headed for an early morning swim at the beach before Pa took them to swimming lessons.

That evening we celebrated Auntie Cat's birthday at the Arboretum!  It was a beautiful evening.  

On Thursday morning the girls had their last swimming lesson.  Both passed their levels!  I'm so proud of them, especially Callie.  Swimming didn't come easily to her (me either) and she worked really hard both in class and out of class (she asked to go to the beach twice so she could practice) to pass all the skills she needed for level 4.  She did it!  

We celebrated by going to the outdoor water park across the street with G-ma!  We all had fun going down the water slides and playing in the water.

The girls also did the climbing wall and diving board over and over.

The girls got pizza to go with G-ma and Pa and went to watch the airplanes take off and land!

Today the girls had fun with Boom!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!  We had a nice weekend.  There was a lot of smoke in the air yesterday morning, so I had to do my 6 mile training run on the treadmill.  And we hung out inside most of the day...pretend camping and doing magic tricks.

Then, for a change of scenery, we headed to Boom's house to see the cousins and have dinner!

The smoke cleared up and we took Luna out for a bedtime walk and enjoyed the pretty (CLEAR) sky.

This morning was cool and lovely, (and again, CLEAR!) so we headed to the beach for a couple hours!  The water was wonderful.

Hey girls, smile!  Just quickly.  Can you smile?  Now?  Together?  Just quick? PLEASE?

The best I got...HA!

After a quiet afternoon at home, we went out to a new (to us) restaurant patio for dinner.

And it is now August (*SOB*), which mean the countdown to the end of summer is upon us.  I go back to work on August 25th, so we made an August Bucket List of a few different things to do before the end of summer. I'm sure there is more we can add, but this is a good start!
