Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!

This was a much needed laid back weekend and I didn't do a great job taking pictures.

On Saturday I met my mom and sisters for lunch and shopping, and we found a shop named "Three Sisters," so we had to get a picture.

Callie had a sleepover at Auntie Cat's house, so Maya had her parents to herself!

I went to see my mom's bell choir debut at early church this morning...and snuck a picture.

The past two Sundays Callie and I have had First Communion classes. She gets to have her first communion next Sunday! We watched videos, she made a plate, and she even got to taste wine (it was not a hit).

Tonight I went a a yoga class with Mari. I got to try out my new yoga socks I got awhile back. I love yoga. I need to do it more often.

Last, but not least, SNAPCHAT!

Have a good week!

A Picture Update

It is Friday. The week has been long and draining. I'm thankful for these pictures and these girls.

Monday with Boom:

Tuesday at the library:

Thursday massage time:

Callie's first phone call with a school friend:

We got the directory from her school this week that has all the students' addresses and phone numbers. We don't have a landline anymore, so Chris' cell phone is the number for Callie in the directory. After school today (while he was still at work) he got a call from one of her friends. She called her back when he got home. It was hilarious and adorable.

Friday sunrays (thanks to Pa for the picture):

Election 2016

I have been pretty quiet about this election because I'm not much of a political activist or do-er. I'm an introvert who prefers to be at home in my PJs.

But I will say I have been obsessed with politics podcasts and polls the past couple months. And I spent 90+ minutes in line to exercise my right to vote.

Like a lot of the country, I really thought Hillary had it in the bag, and I'm really surprised by how affected I am that it went the other way. So drastically.

Before today, I was excited to be able to share the news with Callie that a lady was going to be president. She had heard things about the candidates and was excited about Hillary too- mostly because of the gender thing, I thought.

When I went up to her room this morning to tell her the results, a genuine look of fear came over her face. Because she heard Trump wants to build a wall. And her best friends at school are from Mexico and have family in Mexico.  And what does that mean for them?

She asked good, thoughtful questions that I couldn't really answer them well because of my intense disappointment.

I am well aware that neither candidate was without flaws, but as someone who has spent my career working with and for some of the people that have been insulted and marginalized during this campaign... And as the mom of two little girls...

I just can't believe all the fear and all the hate.

I have learned a great lesson the past year and a half (in the face of shock and loss and grief) that was my mantra today as well:

"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." John 1:5

I guess I just wanted to document this day, because it will be a big one in history. I genuinely hope and pray that we can recover and come together and just freaking love each other.

Timehop Tuesday

Not only is it Tuesday, but it is (finally) ELECTION DAY! I voted early- yesterday afternoon- and waited about 90 minutes.

It will be a very interesting day...

On to Timehop. Last week was all about Maya, so this week is all about Cal!

Weekend Wrap-Up

First up, yesterday was Nana's birthday!!!! Ten of us Gosselin women got together for lunch to celebrate!

We love you Nana!

Before lunch, Cat, Mary, Hanna and I soaked in a little sun at a beautiful little park.

I got some fun one-on-one time with my big girl in the afternoon. Also? It was 70 degrees outside.

We went to see the Trolls movie yesterday! It was great and the girls loved it.

Maya developed a nasty cold yesterday that got worse overnight. Fun times for us. Can't wait for it to spread to all of us.

Today after church we went over to Boom's house. Thankfully Maya napped so Boom, and and I went and wandered around near her condo.

The girls were NUTS tonight. Daylight savings mania perhaps? But they were pretty cute in the bathtub.

Not sure how it is already November, but this year is flying by. Holy moly.

Have a good week! It's a big one- election week. Go vote!!!

A Picture Update

Happy Friday! Longest. Week. Ever. Halloween seems like months ago, but it was Monday.

We had a fun one, though! Nate, Kaela, and Caleb were in town, with new baby Adalay!

Maya had fun, as usual, during the week with grandparent day care.

The weather has been so nice- we soaked in some sunrays yesterday.

The Held's came over for our annual Halloween get-together.

Callie got an award. And the other award winner, Marqual, is one of her favorite friends in class.

And Auntie Cat came over tonight and brought us dinner and smoothies!

Have a great weekend.

Timehop Tuesday

Happy Tuesday! Here are the Timehops that are all about Ms. Maya.
