God Bless Maya Leigh!

Two years ago today our Little Squish was baptized by my Uncle Joe.

We are continually blessed by this little sweet one, and so thankful that she is our girl.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday. The days are long but the weekends are short...even the long ones.  Seriously.  How is it Sunday already?  But how did it take SOOOOOOO long until bedtime yesterday?  Parenting is weird.

Anyway.  The highlights of our short/long weekend include:

A campfire party at G-ma and Pa's with Boom and the girls:

A fall run to see sunrays- the first one in over a month:

A Sunday selfie session:

And the first of 12 Girls Nights Out for my mom's 60th year.  Except for this one we stayed in and cooked a delicious gluten-free meal:

I'll leave you with our little comedienne telling a few of her favorite knock-knock jokes:

A Picture Update

It is MEA, so I was off yesterday and today. The girls and I stayed busy, and will continue to be busy this weekend.

Here are the pictures from the week.

Maya at Boom's house (and Lund's):

I had conferences from 12-8 on Tuesday, so I got to have a breakfast date with this one:

These two are crazy:

Callie had Wesnesday off, so both girls spent the day with G-ma and Pa:

We met Casey, Ciri, Gianni, and Baby Luca at a park on Thursday morning:

I finally got around to updating the wall pictures...but not before looking at all the old ones first:

By Thursday night I had a 2-year-old eating my dinner and then had early wine after listening to a very WHINEY 5-year-old all day. New fun stage!

On Friday morning we went to a Lynx parade with Boom and Auntie Yoda:

It is a quiet night at home and that's okay with me. Have a great weekend!

2015 WNBA Champs

For the third time in 5 years, the Lynx are WNBA CHAMPIONS.

We weren't there in person tonight (my mom and Mari were), but we were glued to the TV and cheering like we were there.

What a bittersweet feeling. We love the Lynx, and have for years...and so did my dad. He would be so dang excited right now.

We made it through a whole Lynx season without him, and that is hard to believe.

But we just have to remember how he lived- with such passion and excitement for awesome things like women's basketball- and do our best to carry on that legacy.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!

I feel like it has been a reallllllly long time since I have done an honest to goodness post about the girls.  Yes, I post pictures, but I haven't had the time energy to write about them.  I'm going to try and remedy that tonight before sharing the pics from our weekend.

First up, CALLIE.

We have really had our ups and downs with this one.  She's now over a month into kindergarten and the transition has been okay.  She seems to love it, but evenings are more often than not a challenge with her behavior.  I'm guessing it is a combination of her exhaustion, our exhaustion, her still trying to figure out grief, us still trying to figure out grief, and some new fun kindergarten attitude.  But what is kind of mind boggling is how sweet she can be.  She can be the most darling, adorable, smart, sassy, sweet five-year-old.  And then she can turn into a walking DISASTER one micro-second later.  But she is learning SO much, loves to sing Taylor Swift, is learning to read and spell like a boss, gets super excited to do her homework, still hates getting her hair washed and brushed, still basically eats peanut butter and jelly at every meal, and currently wants to be a zombie (what?!?!) for Halloween.  So that's what is going on with her.

Then there is MAYA.

This isn't the best picture, but it describes her perfectly because she is always on the go.  She never stays in one place too long, and is still a major Mommy-cling on.  Like major.  She has settled in to being the only child during the days while Callie is at school, and she is digging all the one-on-one attention with Daddy (Tuesdays), G-ma (Wednesdays), Pa (Thursdays, and Boom (Mondays and Fridays).  She would only eat bagels and cream cheese if she had the choice, and getting her to eat any kind of fruit or vegetable can sometimes be a chore.  Trying to brush her teeth is also a chore, and the girl HATES nap time and bed time.  And why wouldn't she, when she just wants to move and play all the time?  She is much more out going than Callie was at 2, and her language is just exploding every day.  Also, she pretty much loves to gallop everywhere.  In fact, here is an adorable video.

The girls together can sometimes be great, and sometimes be disaster.  They both get mad and aggressive at times.  Other times they can be so sweet and loving.  And most often they egg each other on to see who can be craziest.  Like this example, in the small confined space of Chris' car.

Okay.  I hope you enjoyed the update.  On to our weekend...

Yesterday morning we met my mom and Auntie Cat out at the Arboretum.  It was a lovely (windy) morning and the girls had a lot of fun exploring all the different fall-themed displays they had.

They also had a Frozen and Minion display- so they know how to get to the hearts of little people!
On Saturday night we went to the Knutson's house, and most of the entertainment happened in their Bounce House.

Avery, Callie and Maya jumped and fell over and jumped and flopped, and also had a blast doing smushy faces against the netting, much to the adults' amusement.
Baby Eli even joined the girls in the Bounce House at the end of the evening.
Today I had some one-on-one time with Miss Maya (and Kona).

Those faces!
Then this evening we headed over to Auntie Cat's house for playtime and dinner.  It seems pretty crazy to be outside in short sleeves and tank tops in the middle of October, but we were happy to soak it in.

This coming week is MEA, so Cal and I have a short week and long weekend coming up.  Fall is flying by.
