Mother's Day Make-Up

We had a lovely dinner with my parents tonight to make up for missing Mother's Day.

After dinner, Callie had fun running around the practice putting green...Daddy is already working on making her his little golfer chick!

Oh, and remember how I wanted to ditch the purple jacket so badly? Well, I got my wish as it was ridiculously hot outside today. Now the sky is yellow and we're waiting for STORMS!!!

Mother's Day

Today is not going as planned. And I had great plans.

1) Go for a 5.5 run with my friend Alison
2) Take a nice hot shower
3) Dress Callie and I alike in matching pink skirts
4) Go out to a declicious brunch with my parents and hang out at the condo
5) Head to G-ma and G-ma's house for a lovely afternoon and dinner

Doesn't that sound like a great day? Well, unfortunately I either have some sort of food poisoning or some sort of stomach bug. So here is what has actually happened today:

1) I attempted the run and got halfway done before I had to quit and Alison and to run back to the car to come pick me up.
2) I did take a long, hot shower, after puking (sorry, tmi I know!).
3) Callie is dressed in the adorable pink skirt. I am in my pjs.
4) We had to cancel brunch/condo time with my parents (I have only been able to stomach giner ale all day)
5) Chris, Dan, Callie and Kona are at G-ma and G-pa's house without me because they don't need to be subjected to my misery

Despite the tears of frustration running down my cheeks because of feeling awful and missing out on a fun day, I am still wildly thankful for the fact that I am a mother to the most perfect and precious little girl. And I'm beyond thankful for the amazing mother I have to look up to and hope to live up to.

I am also so blessed to have another loving mom in my life: my mother-in-law Mary. I am constantly thankful for the fabulous family I married in to.

And, of course, I'm thankful for the 3 grandmas in my life, all of whom I've gotten to see in the past few weeks!

I have so many amazing mom friends and mom relatives and I hope every one of you has a wonderful Mom's Day!

Kona Hope

Today marks the 5th year anniversary of the day we drove down to Chariton, IA to pick up our 8-week-old puppy Kona Hope.

My mom pulled out her Kona book and made a sign!

And tonight Kona gets to have a sleepover with her friend Lami at Grandma and Grandpa's house!

We have been blessed for 5 years to have such a wonderful doggy!!!!

TGIF!!!!!

We spent the evening at the condo and got to see Grammy and Margie one last time before they head back to Colorado tomorrow. Callie had fun playing with Margie:

And then we got a 4 generation picture with Grammy:

Purple Jacket

Really, May?

We have yet to get rid of Callie's purple spring jacket and cold weather hat.

I had FROST on my car windows yesterday morning.

SNOWFLAKES have actually fallen a few days this week.

I was more than a little annoyed with May 2011 until yesterday afternoon, when we actually got to be outside to enjoy our tulips (and dandelions...).

But we still needed the purple jacket.

Today was gorgeous...we had a nice walk with Kylie and Calvin by Nokomis.
But we still needed the purple jacket.

Tonight was nice...we went to cheer on Daddy and the boys at one of their softball games.

But we still needed the purple jacket.

As much as I love purple, I'm getting REALLY REALLY sick of the purple jacket.

On to other news: we got to celebrate Great Margie's birthday on Monday with dinner and strawberry shortcake!

And the new favorite saying in our house is "Uh Oh."

Weekend Wrap-Up

We had another fairly crazy weekend, I'd say.

First up: Yes, I did wake up at 4:30am to watch the Royal Wedding! Then work...and my Grammy and Aunt Margie are in town, so we got to hang out with them at the condo on Friday afternoon.

Next up: The half-marathon race on Saturday morning with my friend Alison. It RAINED pretty much the entire 2 hours and 13 minutes we ran. But we made it and it was still better than the half marathon I did in August. Plus, we had very dedicated fans who trooped around in the rain to see us (my sisters both came home this weekend!).

After the race (and a hot shower!) we headed to Alison's sister's house for a delicious brunch with her family. Callie got to meet her niece and nephew and they had fun playing together.

Following that we stopped by the Johnson's house briefly (no pictures) to see my mom's Johnson cousins who are all in town. We were able to see them later on at the condo after Callie's nap and my much needed chiropractor appointment!

Saturday evening at the condo was a blast. Lots of cousins, and the first whole family affair we've had with Callie and Baby Donald together. So fun!

Haha Andy...

On to Sunday: This morning we went to see our Goddaughter Christine's first communion. She was the flower girl in our wedding (at 2 1/2 years old), and it is hard to believe she is now almost 8 1/2 years old! Here we are with her and her other Godparents.
We went to lunch at their house after the church service and Callie had fun playing with Christine.

We got home just in time for Callie's 2nd nap-time so we did some cleaning because our house was a disaster. Then we babysat Sydney for a couple of hours tonight.

That about wraps it up. As usual, a ton more pictures are posted on our Shutterfly Site.I feel like I need a weekend from our weekend!
