Weekend Wrap-Up

6:30am: Happy Monday! It was really nice to have a long weekend. It was very needed to push through the last 2 busy weeks before summer.

9:30am: Remember when I said it was nice to have a long weekend? I have spent the last 1.5 hours battling my 7-year-old about cleaning her room. It's been very dramatic and she has considered calling the orphanage to see if they have vacancies. Apparently kids are only ever supposed to do fun things and adults are the ones who have to do the non-fun stuff.

We started with Maya's room and got it cleaned and rearranged a little. Here's are before (top) and after (bottom) photos.

Maybe by the end of the day I'll be able to share Callie's room transformation.

As for the rest of the weekend...on Saturday we hung out downtown with Boom. We went to the market and walked the bridge. And puzzles.

Later in the afternoon we played with bubbles and Auntie Cat came over. Callie got to sleep over at her house on Saturday night.

And while Callie was away, her sister did play. On her own. And loved it, but only a little.

On Sunday morning I went for a 6 mile run. I didn't want to do it, but I did, was was rewarded by sunrays and lilacs and red lights and Gatorade and my "Nevertheless She Persisted" shirt and 10,000 steps before 7:30am.

Later that morning I went to see my friend Libby's baby Max. He was born on my birthday!

Back to today, 9:43am: The future other lawyer of the family is still arguing with me about room cleaning. I may be losing my mind a little bit.

Anyway.

Yesterday afternoon Auntie Yoda and Baby Lucy came over!!

My face is because Laura was taking the picture and trying to get the girls to smile nicely.
They were too enamored with Lucy to do any kind of listening.

And this is my new favorite picture! Eeeeek! Those smiling faces!!!!!

Later, G-ma and Pa took the girls to a park.

And Mari and I went to the Lynx game.

We had crazy weather last night. There were beautiful clouds when I was driving home that soon turned into a downpour and hail. And after that, the clouds behind our house were reddish.

Back to today, 9:51 am: She claims to be ready for me to vacuum. We shall see. I will report back later.

Today, 7:20 pm: All the things on the floor had been shoved under her bed so it took some more time and more whining but we all prevailed and her room got vacuumed and rearranged (the before photo on top is totally embarrassing...her room gets SO messy) by about 10:30 am.

So back to the rest of today. We finally planted some flowers in our pots!

And Maya was very proud about the fact that she matched Baby Elliott.

We ended the day over at Auntie Cat's house to see her, G-ma, Pa and Hanna (Uncle Dan had to work). We had so much fun playing outside!

And we did a slo-mo video of our game with the big frisbee.

Also, another one of my new favorite pictures was taken.

It is now 7:41 pm and we are listening to Maya antics on the monitor while she is supposed to be in bed.

These girls surely do keep us on our toes.  Now does anyone want to place bets for how long the rooms will stay clean?!?!

Have a great week!

A Picture Update

Happy Friday, once again!! And it is a long weekend. Hooray!

Maya had fun with Boom, G-ma and Pa this week. Coloring, baby holding, swinging, bowling... it's no wonder there was a little sleeping in there too!

As you may have seen on Tuesday, Callie had her "Three Piggy Opera" performance, and a gaggle of admirers.

Here are a few minutes of video highlights if you are interested:

Maya's preschool class released the butterflies they had been studying. Her teacher posted some pictures and Maya seems uninterested, but actually was excited when she talked about it at home.

Thankfully it has been nice out so we spent time outside in the evenings.

Last night I headed downtown for wine time (with Lucy!) and then dinner with my mom and sisters.

Tonight we got out the sprinkler and water table for the first time this season!

Today was Maya's last day of preschool. She is going a little bit this summer, but the official end of year one was today! She looks so much bigger than when she started!

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Timehop Tuesday: 46-Months-Old!!- UPDATED!

UPDATE: I originally posted this early this morning, but scroll to the bottom for a VIDEO time hop.

It is the 23rd again, so now we are only two months away from this girl being FOUR.

She is all about pretending these days. She and Callie will talk back and forth with things like "Pretend I'm the mommy and you're the kid!" And "Pretend the baby is crying and I'm the mommy so I have to hold her." It's pretty cute. She is just looking and feeling so big and heavy. My baby!!!

On to my Timehops. I don't have too many today. Just one of the girls + me.

And one of the girls reading with Auntie Yoda.

And this popped up today. Sadly, I can't do a "Then and Now," but look at how cute and young Kona looked. We miss our doggie.

Update: Today Callie performed in a musical at school called the "Three Piggy Opera."  She had the role of "Mother Pig" and had a SOLO at the beginning of the show.  More pictures and details will come later on Friday, but I had to find video of her first singing performance as a 3-year-old preschooler.  All I could find was an 8 second clip of her putting her head down and NOT singing during the performance.  So say she has come a long way in 4 years is an understatement!  I'm SOOOOOOOOOO proud of her.   Enjoy!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hey everybody! I feel like our weekends the past month have been SO crazy busy. This weekend, however, wasn't. And that was kind of nice. Except then the girls were crazy and then subsequently drove us a little crazy. So it was a good reminder that sometimes being busy can be good.

Anyway.

Yesterday. I was supposed to have race # 5. You guys, it POURED all day long. The race was supposed to be at 11:00am. By 9:45am, it was so wet and cold and I totally bailed. Since it wasn't very official or timed, I decided it wasn't worth it, and instead worked on my negative splits on my treadmill. So I still got a 5K in, but I got to stay dry.

I wore the race t-shirt to be in the spirit of the race.

So I have now signed up for an "extra" 5K race in July. I can't remember if I shared this here yet, but I have started training for another half marathon that will be on July 29th. It is one that I have done at least 3 times before, so it should be pretty familiar. That will be my big summer project, once again.

The only other picture I took yesterday was when the girls were playing checkers at G-ma and Pa's house. It lasted all of 30 seconds before they were running around crazy again.

Today the girls and I went to early church to see Boom play the handbells. Then Chris met them at church for Sunday School while Boom and I headed downtown. We decided to go out for a 5 mile walk. It was pretty wet, but it felt great.

We got to see Baby Lucy after lunch!

The girls are so stinking cute with her that I had to take a couple videos this time.

Maya gets so excited.

Callie does too, but in a more subtle way.  She got stink bombed today, though!  Literally.

When we got home I tried to implement family cleaning afternoon. It didn't go well.

So we did some cuddling.

Which also ended in disaster.

Lastly, it is Mari and Josh's 1st wedding anniversary today!  I went back through and looked at the pictures.  It was such an awesome day.  Here's a little taste of it, a year later.

Have a great week!

A Picture Update

Friday is here and we are one week closer to summer break. Three weeks left...crazy.

On Monday Maya got to hang out with Boom, Auntie Yoda and Lucy!

There was some sunshine on Monday night.

On Tuesday the rain cleared enough for me to enjoy some iced coffee at the Saints game on a field trip. Fun fact: the finish line of my 2nd race of 2017 was on this field.

Maya had fun at G-ma's house.

On Thursday we *tried* to watch the Lynx game.

Tonight we ate at Punch Pizza, Callie's favorite.

Lucy wore one of Maya's onesies again. I love going back into the 2013 photos folder!

Left: Maya; Right: Lucy

I have my 5th race of the year tomorrow- a super casual and untimed 5K. The type of race that's a fundraiser for an organization where you get kind of an ugly regular T-shirt instead of a nice running shirt. But that's ok. It will be a nice change of pace. I'm guessing it will be pretty chill and there won't be many super serious runners.

Have a great weekend!

Timehop Tuesday

Was anyone else kept up by the thunderstorms last night? I'm hoping they let up so we can go on our field trip today to see the Saints play!

Anyway, the Timehops.

First up, as usual, Callie Joy. From baby to big in (what feels like) no time.

And then we have Maya Leigh. That sweet face!

And lastly, sisters.

Weekend Wrap-Up: The Happy Mother's Day Edition!

Happy Mother's Day to all the awesome moms out there, particularly to Nana, Grammy, Boom, and G-ma. We are so lucky to have so many lovely, wise and caring women in our family.

Can you believe the perfect weather this weekend? We tried to take advantage of it, knowing that this upcoming week's weather is going to be stormy.

Yesterday morning we went to Mabel's pedicure birthday party. It was Maya's first ever pedicure and she totally charmed the pedicurist. He kept saying "She's so cute!!"

And their toes turned out awesome.

Callie had dance pictures, and once all dressed up in her costume, looked way too old.

After pictures she headed to Boom's house for a sleepover! They went to the cemetery and Mill City museum, among other fun things.

While Cal was gone, Auntie Cat came over and we had fun at the park and out for dinner with Maya.

Today was a busy day! I started Mother's Day with some me time at sunrise- a 5 mile run.

We headed over to Boom's house for brunch. Baby Lucy was looking adorable, as usual.

She also makes my two girls look so big!

And we obviously had to get this picture.

After lunch we went on a walk and I tried for the third year in a row to get a good picture with my girls. I would not call it super successful, thanks to my goober preschooler.

So then we headed out to a cool sculpture garden/mini golf place to see G-ma, Pa, Auntie Cat, Uncle Dan and Hanna.  It was hot and sunny and fun!

There were goats too. And we went to a park by a lake for a picnic. What a beautiful day.

Here is G-ma with her three kids!

And I tried again to get a good one with my two, and the fabulous photographer that is Hanna got a great one.

Then Chris and the girls dropped me back of at Boom's so she and I could head to the season opener LYNX GAME!!! They're back! So excited for the new season!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. We are at mid-May. Summer is in sight!
