6-month Check-up!

We took Callie to the doctor this morning for her 6-month check-up. We were told, once again, she is a perfect baby. She weighs 16 pounds, 12 ounces (63%ile) and is 26 1/2 (74%ile) inches long. Her head circumference is staying strong in the 90%ile. And she peed all over when they were taking her measurements. When I saw it and told the nurse she was peeing, the nurse started to duck for cover, and then realized she was a girl. She apologized and said she has a boy at home. It was funny. :)

This afternoon I went to a friend's house who has a 15 month old boy Zak. We had a little swimming play date. And Callie got to wear her ADORABLE pink tu-tu swimsuit that I got from a friend at one of my showers. She is so cute I can't stand it!

I LOVE SUMMER!

SUMMER VACATION!!!

I am 2 days in to summer vacation and LOVING it! Today I took Callie and Kona to the park by our house. I put her in a swing and once again, no reaction to a new experience :)

Silly baby!

We had fun hanging out at the park and will go back many times this summer!

Here is a picture from the weekend that I didn't post but is so darn cute I have to. We went to our neighbor's house for a BBQ. They have a little boy Wes who is 10 weeks younger than Callie. We put the babies in their Bumbos so we could eat.

My sister Laura is coming home this weekend. I'm running a 5K race tomorrow with her and my Dad that is right around the condo. It is the first race I'll be running since the day after I found out I was pregnant! Should be a great weekend!

Happier Things

My last post was rather sad, so I'd like to cheer myself up by posting some fun pictures from the weekend. On Friday night my friends Libby and Casey from high school came over to go out to dinner and see my parents' condo. Casey has a 1 1/2 year old daughter Ciri who likes to watch Callie videos on this blog. She was excited to see Callie ("Cayi") in real life!

We got out some toys for Ciri that my parents had kept from when my sisters and I were babies. Callie played too! She enjoyed the little play kitchen. Maybe that means she'll be the cook in the family...because her parents are pretty pathetic in that department.

Tonight I had a girls night with my small group girls. Girls night used to consist of late nights and bottles of wine. Now it consists of 2 babies and heading home at 8:00! It is kind of surreal how things have changed in the 3+ years we have known each other. And we all had fun watching Callie and Charlie (6 weeks old) hang out.

Of course, I had to take a video of the babies:

Finally, a picture that I hope will make you smile:

HP

It is a sad day for the Henderson family. Our 12-year-old mini daschie Hugo Percy was put down this morning.

In his prime, he was a bit spoiled by all of us, and loved being in his throne. The Henderson ladies talked to him in the high-pitched voice (and I say THE voice because we all sounded the same: "Hugo-Percy-Sweet-Ah-Boyee").

When Hugo was 6 years old he herniated a couple disks in his back and became paralyzed. He was the same old Hugo just now needing a cart and needing to now be "squozen" (which each member in our family learned to do). He was very tolerant when Kona came into the picture. Though whenever he was told Kona was coming over he'd scoot himself into a corner and growl.

He was a very special member of our family and will be greatly missed.

We love you HP!

The Dog Did It

They're both so darn cute, so I have a feeling that these two are going to be trouble when Callie is older...

Finally, Uncle Dan came home for the night!

Fun times with Auntie Cathleen

Callie and I have had the good fortune to spend a lot of time the past couple of days with Cathleen! We went out to an early dinner and took in a concert at the Lake Harriet Bandshell last night. We ate at Da Afghan in Bloomington (Richfield?) which was DELICIOUS. Callie was too cool for her carseat, though, so we got to pass her back and forth across the table and take turns eating. :)

It was a perfect night for a ice cream and hanging out at the lake. Little Miss StinkerButt was refusing to fall asleep, however. She kept looking at us with one eye after we tried minimizing distractions with a blanket.

Maybe she was just enjoying this view too much:

Gotta love the Twin Cities!

Today Callie got to go hang out with Cathleen and Grandma for an extra long day (I had a meeting after work (but got to hang out for a bit this afternoon) and Chris had softball). She even got to see Nana and Papa this morning and Grandpa tonight! This afternoon she worked on sitting up and did an awesome job. There were a couple of times where we had to do some quick catches when her head started to weigh her down, but for the most part she was able to sit up on her own and stay up for awhile!

Cathleen heads out early tomorrow morning for 6 weeks abroad in England and Germany. We'll miss her and will be excited to see her when she comes back (on her birthday) at the end of July!

Happy Traveler

I took a cute video of Callie in the car on the ride home from Iowa. We're so lucky that she is such a good car rider!

And yes, I did sit in the back seat with her for most of the drive. :)

Weekend in Iowa!

Well, Callie has become quite the Midwest traveler: first WI, then IL, now IA! We had a fun weekend catching up with college friends and their 1-year-olds! It was a little preview of what life will be like soon...and I'm sure it will come so fast! Here are some pictures of the kiddos:

Excited for Iowa!

Now I have 2 more weeks of work and then summer break! I can't believe how fast this year is going!

Apple Sweet Potatoes

Rice cereal has gone well the past 10 days...so we decided to have Callie try Apple Sweet Potatoes (whatever that means!) tonight. It wasn't too exciting. :)

Mmm...Apple Sweet Potatoes! from Baby Goose on Vimeo.

She also tried to do some sitting up...but is not quite there yet:

We ended the playtime in a diaper hanging out on our favorite chair:

Summer...so close...

It has been a very busy week! We had the last day with students on Wednesday, but I work another two weeks. Thankfully starting next week summer schedule is Monday through Thursday 9:30 to 3:00. I can handle that! Though I am just SOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited for June 25th when I'll officially be on summer break and can hang out with my baby all day every day for 8 weeks!

Callie is getting so big and so smart and so playful. It is just awesome to see her personality emerging. She cackles/giggles at so many things. Bob was watching her yesterday and said at one point she was just laughing like crazy for awhile and then he realized she had pooped... and seemed to be laughing like "Haha Grandpa you get to change a poopy diaper!" So funny.

Here she is exploring her toys again:

And here she is with my dad...standing up like a big girl!

We have a fun weekend ahead. We're going to a wedding of a college friend's sister and will get to see a couple of my college girlfriends and their 1-year-olds! It is going to be so fun seeing the kids all together! And saying that kind of makes me feel old... :)

Sleep

Tonight (really for the first time) I put Callie upstairs in her bed when she was tired, but awake, and she fell asleep! Normally she falls asleep in one of our arms in the basement or wherever we are so we just put her up in her bed already asleep. But tonight I thought I'd try it out and it was a success. :) A real bedtime. And it felt weird for both Chris and I to be downstairs with her upstairs. I guess it is just something new to get used to!

Here are a couple of cute pictures from the weekend. I got out the quilt my grandma had given me as a baby and she LOVES it! She is definitely our little sunshine. :)
