Preschool Swearing...? QOTD

We ordered a new vacuum and it was delivered today.

Me: Our new vacuum came today- it is still out front.
Chris: (goes to bring it inside) I hope it isn't damaged.
Maya: (runs to me) Daddy said DAMMIT!
Me and Chris: (look incredulously at each other and maybe giggle a little)

So many questions about if she actually knows that word or if it just sounded like that word when she said it. But we calmly ignored and she moved on to making a pillow fort.

And us? On to the next parenting adventure, like figuring out what these two will eat besides macaroni and cheese.

Timehop Tuesday

Poor Maya has yet another bad cold and cough, so we kept her home from school today as to not cycle more germs through preschool.

She is currently happy and playing, despite the ridiculous congestion and constant coughing. She's a trooper.

As for the Timehops, I only have 2.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Wow that long weekend went fast. It is now almost December and I feel like three weeks until Christmas break is going to fly fast too. December is going to be CRAZY, so I'm just going to soak in the last few calmer days of November.

We had a really nice weekend. We spent Saturday morning hanging out with John, Jenny and Boom.

It was a beautiful afternoon, so Callie and I walked to the library, just the two of us.

Yes, she was wearing her jammies at 3pm. It's how she rolls and I love it. I also love how she still grabs my hand when we are walking anywhere (even in school), and I'm going to be super sad when she gets too cool for that.

Last night G-ma and spa came to babysit the girls so we could go out to an adults only dinner with family.

We had a little room all to ourselves, and it was awesome and super delicious. We got ice cream afterwards and I ate so much that I think my body might be considering going on strike.

A new 10 week exercise and eating plan starts today. Wish me luck.

This morning was CRAZY FOGGY! The girls and I went on a walk and it was creepy, in a fun way, down by the pond.

That is Callie being a scary monster, by the way.

We went to see the movie "Moana" this afternoon. The girls liked it- but it was a tad scary. The music was awesome, so it will probably be our new dance party soundtrack for awhile.

Have a great week!

A Picture Update

Happy Black Friday!

It is hard to believe another Thanksgiving has come and gone and now we are on our way to Christmas! We had a lovely time yesterday at Boom's new place. John and Jenny are here from Denver, and G-ma, Pa, Auntie Cat, Uncle Dan, and Hanna joined us too, along  with Auntie Yoda and Uncle Craigles.

We missed Auntie Mari and Uncle Josh, who were with Josh's family.

And Bops. Always Bops.

But we had fun all day playing, going on a walk, going on a scavenger hunt, and enjoying time together.

As for the rest of the week: Maya hung out with Boom.

The girls were goofy and crazy.

And Cal made a snowman family with the sticky snow we got.

Today was the first Black Friday that Chris has had off in about 15 years! We got to do a family trip to the zoo.

Then we went to a big Gosselin family gathering at Karen and Gus' house. The girls got to play with lots of little cousins, and we got to meet the newest baby cousin Ximena!

The highlight was watching home videos of all the Gosselin cousins from the mid-90s, which was straight up awkward early teen years for most of them. There were concerts and sporting events and other family holidays. It was amazing.

And in a weird twist (and an illustration of how long I have known Gosselin peeps) there was a video of Dan's 8th grade band concert, which also briefly included his fellow 8th grade percussionist...ME!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I certainly feel like there is so much to be grateful for.

So goofy.

40-Months-Old!!!

What!?!?!?!?!?!

This is getting ridiculous. She is getting so stinking big.

I caught her last night mid-lip lick, which is a lovely habit she learned from her sister that gives her a nice red moustache.

I will admit that she has been throwing me for a loop on many occasions these days. It's that phase where every. single. thing. seems to be a challenge. Like putting on socks (they have to be the exact right pair). Or opening a heavy door (she has to do it herself even if it weighs 3 times more than she does). Or going to bed (she is never ready to go to bed, like many littles, and makes it known). Or putting on her coat (the "but it's cold outside" logic doesn't matter).

But.

Holy moly is she sweet and smart and crazy and hilarious and kind and generous when she wants to be.

And also her new favorite phrase is "poop in your face!"

Timehop Tuesday

So it is Tuesday of Thanksgiving week and super gross outside.

That is all I got.

Timehops.

I love seeing 1-year-old Maya. I just want to squeeze her cheeks!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Chris gets home from his golf trip about midnight tonight.

Hooray!

In related news, this was me about 5pm.

This weekend. Here we go.

It started with snow and hats and coats and scarves and cold.

We met Boom for lunch and then she took Callie to dance, to see Trolls (again) and kept her overnight for a sleepover!

Maya hung out with Auntie Cat for the afternoon and then I went over so we could make lasagna for dinner.

There were a few hours yesterday that I got to have to myself. What amazing things did I do, you ask? I laid on my bed. And folded laundry. And cleaned up the kitchen. Nothing photo worthy, that's for sure.

This morning was just me and the crazy 3-year-old.

Callie had her first communion today at church. She got to wear a flower and bring up the communion wafers with her class during the service and sit at the altar rail for a little bit and then commune with us, her family, for the first time. It was really special.

And then when we were back in our pew she leaned over (still chewing) and said "Mom, this tastes like cardboard."

Perfect.

We went back to Boom's house and I tried my darndest to get a good picture with Maya, but as you might have been able to tell, she is a big time picture smile avoider these days.

I caught a cute moment of when Auntie Yoda showed Callie an ultrasound picture of her little baby girl.

The girls and I got home about 2:30

And it was only 2:30.

So we decided to laugh in the face of 30 degree weather and go to the park!

It was chilly but we survived. And found a pretty red leaf that was trying its best to survive too.

We filled the rest of the day with dancing and playing (which also includes yelling and screaming and crying and fighting) and also some joke telling, so I'll leave you with Callie telling her new favorite jokes she read in a joke book on the Kindle.

Have a great Thanksgiving week!

A Picture Update

Happy Friday!

Hanna sent me this yesterday, and it pretty much sums up the past few weeks and the week to come:

I would edit it today "God bless teachers AND PARENTS everywhere." And I'm both!

Anyway, I don't have very many pictures this week. Chris has been golfing in Arizona with my Uncle Jim, and before he left, the girls tried to sneak in his golf bag to go with.

Alas, their plan failed, and he is enjoying warm golf weather while we are currently experiencing this:

Callie is loving it and Maya is not, which totally goes with the winter baby/summer baby thing.

Other than that, Maya played at Boom's house as usual.

I went to Maya's preschool conference. I found out that she is pretty quiet at school, and totally can write her name by herself.

Which is interesting because she totally fakes that she has no idea how when I try and have her write it at home.  Stinker! After her conference we got some ice cream.

Other happenings from the week: Callie went to science night with Pa. And we had movie night tonight, because FRIDAY.

Last, but certainly not least, we found out what "kind" of cousin the girls are getting. The Hendersons must have strong GIRL genes, because Auntie Yoda and Uncle Craig are having a GIRL!

Have a great weekend!

Timehop Tuesday

Once again it is Tuesday, but wow, this has been a long week. Election Day was only a week ago? How is that possible?!?! It doesn't help when you wake up,  make school lunches, and do a 25 minute workout video, all before 6am. Makes for loooong days. Maybe some day I'll learn to sleep past 5am.

Anyway. Here are my Timehops.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!

This was a much needed laid back weekend and I didn't do a great job taking pictures.

On Saturday I met my mom and sisters for lunch and shopping, and we found a shop named "Three Sisters," so we had to get a picture.

Callie had a sleepover at Auntie Cat's house, so Maya had her parents to herself!

I went to see my mom's bell choir debut at early church this morning...and snuck a picture.

The past two Sundays Callie and I have had First Communion classes. She gets to have her first communion next Sunday! We watched videos, she made a plate, and she even got to taste wine (it was not a hit).

Tonight I went a a yoga class with Mari. I got to try out my new yoga socks I got awhile back. I love yoga. I need to do it more often.

Last, but not least, SNAPCHAT!

Have a good week!
