A Picture Update

We made it through the first week of school and I'm exhausted.  I fell asleep at 7:45pm last night!  But the bonus for that is I actually achieved 8 hours of sleep according to my Fitbit!

Anyway, here are the pictures from the week.  On Tuesday the girls were still off, so they spent the morning with G-ma, and then the afternoon with their neighborhood besties.  They sold drinks and dog treats and made $30!  The kids all decided to donate half the money and they each got $3.75.  It was very exciting for all involved.

Wednesday was their first day of school (and my 2nd day!).

Their teachers posted 1st day pictures ,which is awesome.

G-ma picked the girls up and then they went to get a treat!

Once we were all back home, we hung out outside for a bit and then snuggled.

And that's about it!  We went to their school open house last night, but I didn't take any pictures.  My brain is just fried!  Happy weekend!

Wednesday Wisdom: Ask Lady Advice

ASK LADY ADVICE

*Editor's note: Sorry we missed last week.  Lady Advice's...um...handler(?) COMPLETELY FORGOT.  Also, we didn't get any questions last week.  So make sure to send in some questions if you have them!

This is a clue to Lady Advice's identity!

Dear Lady Advice,

School started so when I walk my dog I pass corners with children waiting for the bus.  It makes me sad when they don't say hi back to me.  What can I do?

Signed,
Friendly Dog Walker in St. Paul

*****************************************************

Dear Friendly Dog Walker,

Maybe let the students pet your dog or your dog sniff the students.  Some students might be feeling nervous about school.  Maybe after a couple days they'll be happier and say hi back.

Love,
Lady Advice

Dear Lady Advice,

My kids are both starting school this week- my older daughter is starting 4th grade and my younger daughter is starting 1st grade.  Now that fall is almost here, what are some of your favorite activities to do?  Anything we should make sure we do as a family this fall?

Signed,
Summer is Over

*****************************************************
Dear Summer is Over,

You should take your family to John's Orchard, go and pick and carve pumpkins, and go trick-or-treating with them.

Love,

Lady Advice

Weekend Wrap-Up: The Labor Day Edition!

Happy Labor Day!  It is really hard to believe that it is September.  It is hard to believe that my first day of school is tomorrow (and the girls' first day is on Wednesday).  I can't believe fall is around the corner...falling leaves, pumpkins, sweatshirt weather, apple orchards, etc.  Time is just FLYING.

As for the weekend- I started out my Saturday with Luna enjoying the beautiful sky at 6:15am.

Then we went to Edinborough so the girls could let off a lot of energy!

The Helds met us there later and then we all went out to a fun/chaotic Chipotle lunch.

Later that evening we decided to make banana bread, do some Sudoku, and watch a show on Netflix.

On Sunday I took a chunk of Callie's 12 pound cabbage that Mary gave me and turned it into homemade coleslaw!

We spent some time lounging and playing...

...until the fam came over for dinner!

G-ma, Pa, Auntie Cat, Boom, Uncle Craigles, Auntie Yoda and Lucy all came over for playtime, dinner and then out for a walk/scooter ride.

This morning Chris took the girls to Can Can Wonderland, where they played arcade games and crazy miniature golf.

Meanwhile, Laura and I headed to the state fair (again, for me!).  We met up with Peter, Amy, Emily, Pat, Henry and Donald for a bit too!

Since it was such a beautiful day, we spent time outside this afternoon.

And then Chris took the girls to a park and then G-ma, Pa, Uncle Dan, Auntie Hanna (and Shambles!) took them for dinner and to play around Centennial Lakes.

Chris went to hit golf balls and I had a quiet afternoon with Luna, mentally preparing for the start of the school year.

Here we gooooooooooooo.....!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Picture Update

Happy Friday!  I survived another week of teacher inservice and the girls had a pretty fantastic last week of summer. On Monday they went downtown to hang out with Boom, Lucy and Iris!

They got to hang out with G-ma and Luna on Tuesday, and keep requesting to do chores to earn money!

They also went to the library and a fun park!

Chris stayed home with them on Wednesday because they both got to go see their classrooms and meet their teachers!  They are both SO excited for the school year to start (not til Wednesday!).

They hung out with Pa, G-ma, and a bit with Boom on Thursday.  Pa took them to the Bakken museum!

Then we snuggled up on Thursday night.

I was off today, so the girls, Boom and I headed to the STATE FAIR!!!

We got there around 8:30am so we did all the things that we knew would get really busy right away, starting with the Skyride.

Then we got mini-donuts, did the big slide, and corn!

And then on to the space tower.

The crop art was awesome this year.

Then it was on to more food- pineapple, milk, pronto pups, and BACON ON A STICK.

And our usual visit to the Alphabet Forest.

Then we went to see the animals, got ice cream at the dairy building, and rode the Ferris wheel!

We were there for just about exactly 4 hours, which was a perfect amount of time to do all the things and then leave when the crowds got crazy.

Have a great weekend!  I'll do my wrap-up on Monday, since...Labor Day Weekend!!!

Timehop Tuesday

Just a couple today: Maya (because I love the timehops from 6 years ago!!!) and the girls together.
