Weekend Wrap-Up

​Hi all! Happy Labor Day. It was a weekend with a good balance of rest time with a few fun things thrown in too. 

On Friday night, Maya fed the gerbils peanut butter (a big hit with Shadow and Nibbles, and ironically  not with Peanut) and Maya and I peeped Callie’s first performance with Pom squad at the food all halftime show. 

On Saturday morning we woke up early and headed to the fair! 

We did all the things in about 4.5 hours, so everyone was zonked on the way home…except for Alex. ;) I did some baking later in the day. 

Yesterday I went on the hunt for mini Dutch ovens and found exactly what I was looking g for at Turnstyle. So it was time for more baking…in the form of mini sourdough buns! 

And then we got a text that there is a new family Gosselin member…a new bloodhound puppy, EDNA! So we got to go visit her last night.

Today I did all of the baking of my mini sourdough buns. The fridge was full of all the dough overnight. And I also made a Brussels sprouts soup to eat out of a  newly baked bread bowl/bun. 

Baking bread and cooking soup are definitely two hobbies that are therapeutic for me. It has been a stressful couple of weeks with everything that happened with Luna and the school year starting. It felt good to just slow down and do something methodical and comforting. 

Back to the craziness tomorrow! 

A Picture Update

​We made it to Friday and I am exhausted! The only pics I have this week are back-to-school related. But first, a bonus picture of Cal with the other pins during the State Fair Parade they marched in last week! 

I started school Monday, and the girls started Tuesday.

I’ll leave you with 11th and 8th graders of the 90s, compared to 2026ers.

Edit: And I realized later I put the wrong year for 11th grade…it’s 1998!

Weekend Wrap-Up

​Hello all. School starts this week- tomorrow for me and Tuesday for the girls. We have been busy and barely had a chance to process this past week and now things are going full steam ahead. I’m exhausted.

This weekend I decided to make potato corn chowder and used some purple carrots, so my soup turned out very purple (and delicious) and I made two sourdough loaves- and everything bagel seasoning one and a strawberry cream cheese one.

We had our annual Gosselin Girls’ dinner and it was lovely! 

Auntie Cat came to play games and I was in gerbil duty when Maya had sleepovers elsewhere (two nights in a row!).

Send energetic vibes this week…it’s gonna be crazy. 

A Picture Update: Happy Belated Birthday Avery!!!

​Hi all. It was Avery’s birthday yesterday!!! I missed posting, but for good reason. We were celebrating (see below)! 

This has been a tough week. I was back to work full time, the girls were still home, Chris was busy at work, and we lost Luna on Tuesday unexpectedly. So I’m exhausted and a bit numb. My plan for the evening is to make soup and start another sourdough loaf.

Luna Ray

​Hi all. I’m  coming to you today with sad news. 

This morning Luna started having cluster seizures. Chris called me home from work to be with the girls while he took her to the emergency vet. Unfortunately, we had to make the very hard choice to put her down. 

She was the dumbest, cutest, naughtiest, most lovable creature we had living in our house. We will all miss her so much. 

As a coping mechanism, I went through nearly all of the last 8+ years of photos to put together some collages of our Luna Tuna.

We will miss this face. Thanks for all the snuggles and stare downs and paws, Luna. We love you. 🐾 

Weekend Wrap-Up

​After a busy weekend, this is late! 

Friday night: a show with a friend. 

Saturday morning: bread dough making and farmers market.

Saturday evening: friend outing in Northfield.

Sunday morning: bread baking, church and brunch. 

Sunday evening: Maya babysitting (with some help from Chris) and another concert.
