Weekend Wrap-Up

Hey all-

Happy Sunday evening.  We had a pretty chill weekend.  I'm still coughing some but I didn't take any cold medicine today for the first time in over a week, so I'm calling that a win.

Yesterday morning was above zero (YAY!) so I took Luna out for a walk for the first time in days.  I also finally opened up the two different family calendars we got everyone for Christmas.  And Luna had a cute face.

We spent the afternoon at Boom's house.  The girls had so much fun playing in a different place for the first time in over a week.

Last night I finally got to "meet" my friend Adrea's brand new baby, Hattie!  She was born on Christmas Eve and is totally adorable.  I can't wait until everything settles down and I can meet and snuggle her in person.

Today was very low key at home.  Callie, Luna and I went for a mile long walk in 1 degree weather.  Later today we introduced the girls to the old school Jumanji movie.  Luna was a weirdo.

I made a homemade chicken tikka masala for dinner tonight...it was delicious!  One of my goals of the new year is to try new and different recipes.  So now that I'm feeling better, this was a start!

A Picture Update

Remember when I said last week would be a boring update? Just wait until today’s post.

I was out sick Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Maya stayed home on Wednesday because she was sniffy/sneezy, but tested negative with an at-home test (thanks again, Boom!) so she went back on Thursday. Callie woke up Thursday with nose congestion and a bit of a cough so

She stayed home that day, but also tested negative and was better for Friday. 

My school decided to go distance until at least next Tuesday, so I worked from home on Thursday and Friday.

THIS IS ALL SO CONFUSING AND FRUSTRATING. 

That’s all I’m going to say on that.

And here are my depressing low step counts this week (on the left, compared to the first week of break on the right😱). The cough and cold air made it just impossible for me to do any running, and even when I tried walking on the treadmill inside I fell into coughing spasms.  Not fun.

Timehop Tuesday

This sums up my mood for 2022 so far:

Thankfully, the four of us all tested negative. I’m still dealing with a crappy cold and cough, but hopefully one more day of rest is all I need. The girls are both back to school today. We’ll see how the rest of the month of January goes…it should be interesting.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Well, the first weekend of 2022 is going to produce the most boring wrap-up ever. We have hunkered down at home because I’m still sick, it’s freaking cold outside, and the world is bonkers. 

Chris made Eggs Benedict for the first time in forever yesterday morning, so I was grateful to have that as my first meal if 2022. We also watched the Harry Potter special, which was SO GOOD.

The girls have done an amazing job of keeping themselves entertained, while I have tried to keep my distance. It was fun to see and hear them playing together again…they hadn’t done much of that in the busyness of the school year. 


So far Chris and the girls have not seemed to catch the awful head cold I have, and we all went to get tested again this morning just in case. We went to the airport at 7:30am and the whole process took about 50 minutes…long lines!

Back at home there was just a lot more resting (for me) and playing (for them).

They have one more day of break tomorrow, so hopefully they’ll get negative test results back and can go to school on Tuesday. I’m taking a sick day tomorrow, just in case, and will see what my test results are. 

So for January is a bit of a bummer. Hopefully it perks up soon. 

A Picture Update + 2021 Wrap-Up

Hey everybody-

It is already the end of the 2nd week of winter break, and as usual, I have no idea how time flew by so fast.  

It is also the end of 2021 and that also seems pretty impossible.  We have no plans tonight- I have a nasty chest cold and cough.  So far, we have all tested negative for Covid (as of Wednesday) but will be testing again on Sunday morning (hopefully...testing seems to be getting harder to do these days).  So we are ending the year hunkering down, which is basically how we started the year last year.  It's pretty unbelievable.

So to wrap up another very bizarre year, I found a cute picture from each month.  I focused on pictures of our immediate household, since we spent an unusually high amount of time together, with all the working and learning from home that went on this year.  I'm very grateful for this little crew of ours (and of our extended crew too, of course).

On to pics from the week!

Monday: the girls spent their Barnes and Noble gift cards, Luna was cute (and annoying), and Maya and I got a date night while Callie slept over with Auntie Cat and Chris babysat Mitchell and Isla!

Tuesday: Maya created her own lego sets while Luna helped with laundry, Callie and Cat enjoyed breakfast and I got a pretty new plant from Pa.

Wednesday: a bit of snow play, and goofy Luna

Thursday: cousin time and some crabby sledding (check out Maya's face)

Today was another day at home...the girls did a pretty good job of keeping themselves busy while Chris worked and I continued to feel pretty crappy.  Tonight we binged a few Survivor episodes before an early bedtime.

Weekend Wrap-Up: The Christmas Edition!!

Hi all!  Happy Sunday evening.  Here is the weekend wrap-up pictures: ALL THE CHRISTMASES.

Friday morning: on Christmas Eve morning we open presents just the four (five) of us. 

We went to a Christmas Eve service at 10am, complete with flurrying confetti and candles during Silent Night.

On Christmas Eve afternoon we went to Boom's house for the Hendosselindsharpe Christmas.  There was lots of presents, playing and a spaghetti dinner.

Saturday morning: CHRISTMAS!  Santa came and the girls came downstairs early, of course.

We then headed to Uncle Dan and Auntie Hanna's for Gosselin Christmas, dogs included (though they spent some time out on the deck).

We had a yummy potluck brunch, many more presents, an afternoon movie, late lunch and game time.

We got home in the late afternoon and the girls and Chris played with the new drones that "Santa" thought would be a good idea to get them...ha!

Sunday: a chilly (14 degrees) but pretty morning run and more drone time.

Then we headed over to Auntie Yoda and Uncle Craigles' for lunch and more play time.

The rest of the day was (thankfully) low key at home.  

But all in all I'm grateful for a fun and healthy time with family!
