Weekend Wrap-Up

How is it Sunday night already?  EVERY WEEK on Saturday morning when I wake up I think "I'm going to blink and it is going to be Sunday night" and it happens every time.  We had a lovely fall weekend.

Yesterday morning I took the girls to in-person dance, which means I had one at a time while the other was in class.  Callie and I walked along a pretty fall path and ate bagels while she completely ignored me to read her Percy Jackson book for the 3rd time.  Maya and I took Luna out for a run around the big field and did some errands.

We had what might be our final deck dinner of the season on Saturday night.  Boom, Auntie Yoda, Uncle Craigles, Lucy and Mila came over for playing, bikes and grilling (look at those beautiful vegetables!).

Here is a lot of baby content, because she is just so stinking adorable.

Since it gets darker out so much earlier in the fall, the girls were finally able to look through Chris' telescope last night before bed.  We saw Jupiter and it's moons!

This morning we did some yard work while the girls played over at the neighbor's yard.  Then I met G-ma, Pa and Auntie Cat for a beautiful afternoon of Pickleball and a little walk in the woods.

Then we spent time outside to just SOAK IT IN.  

Tonight before bed we wandered over to see the high school marching band perform on the field. I wonder if you can tell who the winter baby is and who the summer baby is by their choice of apparel?

And a bit of exciting news...we are getting another niece or nephew and the girls are getting another cousin! Mitchell is going to be a big brother in early April. Hooray!!!!!!!

Maya QOTD

Maya is absolutely hilarious these days. I could hang out and listen to her talk forever.

Lately she has been really into homonyms. She loves to think of homonyms and then tell me proudly.

Tonight I (her former vegetarian mother) had to do a bit of gulping to address her current idea of homonyms. 

Maya: I know a homonym! Chicken! Like cluck cluck chicken, and chicken you eat!

Me: Well...that’s kind of the same chicken.

Maya: (pausing to think) Wait, you mean we kill the chicken and then eat it?

Me: Yup.

Maya: Ok so I eat pigs AND chickens because I eat bacon AND ham!

So she clearly doesn’t care about that whole eating animals thing like I did...and sometimes do if I think too much about it...

And then I told her I was a vegetarian back in the day and she didn’t care at all and then had a dance break to Hamilton and all was well.

Timehop Tuesday

It’s after 9pm and I am surprised I’m awake and also I just realized it was Tuesday so I think this only Timehop I made explains the descent into 2020.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!  We had a fun and VERY productive weekend.

I went for a 4 mile run yesterday morning and got a bit lost in a new area and found a new path.  It was lovely!

Yesterday morning G-ma came over to continue the transformation of Callie's room. They painted over the pink and purple walls with an awesome turquoise color!

While they were doing that, we FaceTimed Hanna and Mitchell a bit and Maya showed off the labels she made in her closet with Hanna's fancy label maker.

Then we went over to Boom's house to see Great Margie before she headed home.  

We made delicious candied apples from a recipe my Aunt Mary sent us...delicious!

Callie slept in the guest room in the basement last night since her room was freshly painted.  They tried to convince us that it would be a good idea for both of them to sleep down there.  YEAH RIGHT.

This morning I went for a very chilly run...and Cal and I had a date at Target (and Starbucks).

Auntie Hanna, Uncle Dan and Mitchell came over for lunch.

And while I did a big cleaning project at home (cleaning, organizing, and a bit of rearranging in our bedroom), Chris and the girls went with G-ma, Pa and Auntie Cat for a fun afternoon in Hastings!

Now I'm SO TIRED.  I napped at 6:30pm so I hope I can fall asleep at bedtime...another busy week is ahead!

A Picture Update

These weeks are FLYING BY.  I'm so busy at work- my at home days on Mondays and Tuesdays are insane, and then my at work days on Wednesdays-Fridays are usually nuts as well.  But we're making it.  

On Monday the girls played with the neighbor's and Chris photo-bombed Maya's picture of her writing that she sent her teacher.

On Tuesday I attempted to pay the girls to fold the 4+ loads of laundry I didn't get to over the weekend, and you can see the video later for how that went.  Then we watched Dancing With the Stars, which always inspires interesting costume choices and behind-the-couch dancing.  And then later we took Luna to an enclosed "dog park" so she could run free for a little bit!

Wednesday was the last day of September and I met my goal of running 50 miles!  Luna ran a lot of them with me, and many were run before 6am.  So...I'm going for 60 miles in October! So far I'm on track and 4 miles in. :)

The girls had a supply pick-up day at school on Wednesday afternoon, and the high school kids were also putting on a production of Alice in Wonderland.  G-ma and Callie decided that one of their distance learning projects was going to be totally redoing Callie's room.  Like redoing EVERYTHING.  So after bringing the girls home, G-ma stayed to get started on the paint selection, organizing and clearing stuff out!  

Later I got my tie-dye campaign shirt and went on a walk to enjoy the beautiful evening. 

On Thursday night we walked to the park, and then explored a little bit further past the park.  We found the most beautiful path and happened to come upon this marsh area at the golden hour of sunset.  It was magical.

Today the girls had school at Boom's house with her and Great Margie!  They even made a fake rock band!  

G-ma and Pa were over at our house today making some progress on Callie's closet...she had a list of tasks to do before she could go in her room and see it!
