Mental Health Monday
Hi! I’m back for another installment of Mental Health Monday!
I am VERY grateful to have the summers off to spend with the girls. But even in the “stress-free” days of summer, I often find myself frustrated and in need of an attitude adjustment.
Did you know both times I typed Monday in the title and in that last sentence, it ended up as MOMDAY and then autocorrected? It is kind of ironic now that for my children, every day the next 10 weeks WILL be MOM-DAY.
I will be honest and share that I’m a tad worried that so much togetherness is going to make all of us go bonkers. I have preemptively signed the girls up for various camps and lessons so we aren’t left with too much unstructured together time. I know that for many people, that is the best kind of time. But for me and my girls and the combination of our personalities, it just doesn’t go well.

Weekend Wrap-Up
Our first official weekend of summer was a busy one!
It started off with having Shambles over for a few hours on Saturday morning. Those two dogs are dummies, but cute ones.
Then it was the last dance class of the year! The girls had to wear their costumes and Ms. Connie video tape their dances so they could watch themselves on the tiny TV screen. The recital is on Saturday and it should be a riot!
Then we went to the Lynx game! They honored Lindsay Whalen and retired her jersey. It was awesome to be there to see all that!
Then Jenna and the girls came over for sprinkler fun and dinner.
This morning we went to a very special service at church- it was Pentecost and also the 125th "birthday" of our church. They commissioned an artist and he was up front throughout the whole service painting a large piece of art for the church. The kids sang a song. There was a brass ensemble. It was a lovely morning.
And the painting was incredible.
After church we went to a picnic and got to see fire jugglers!
Later this afternoon we went to Centennial Lakes and dinner with Auntie Yoda, Uncle Craigles and Lucy.

A Picture Update
IT. IS. SUMMER. VACATION.
On Tuesday the sunrays woke me up early to go for a run before work.
On Thursday the girls’ teachers posted pictures from the last day of school.
G-ma picked them up from school, and she said Maya had some tears. They both had wonderful teachers and an amazing year.
They also found a new summer project to do with G-ma: Check our all the donut stores on this list from the paper!
Today we met Boom for brunch!
Then the girls went to the neighbors’ this afternoon for a sprinkler party and I took a nap. Then they came over here for popsicles.

I really can’t believe it. As of yesterday I finished my 15th year of teaching, Callie finished 3rd grade, and Maya finished Kindergarten.
On Monday we went to Maya’s Kindergarten Graduation, which was adorable.

Weekend Wrap-Up
The weekends right before summer start are magical. The weather is usually lovely, and anticipation of 10 weeks of sunshine and fun is great. This weekend was no exception.
It was one of those mornings where the sun was glistening through the shades of our bedroom just begging me to come out and enjoy it. So I did.
And then we saw the Sweet Gypsy waffle truck, which is owned by one of our favorite former Lynx players- Rebekah Brunson. We met her and got a delicious waffle and cold brew.
And then we walked the street and ended up with Kona Ice!
When we got home Maya really wanted to take the training wheels off her bike. So she tried it a few times and started to get the hang of it. And then got bored, so we had an epic outdoor dance party (see the video later).
She is not quite ready for biking on her own yet, but probably soon!
And then the kids found an inch worm and it was very exciting.
We ate and talked and laughed and enjoyed the beautiful evening. The Gosselin/Libman peeps are SO fun.

Happy Birthday Bops!
My dad would have been 64 today. The girls wrote notes to him and we sent the notes up to heaven with birthday balloons.
This afternoon we met Boom, Auntie Yoda, Uncle Craigles, and Lucy to celebrate with ice cream at Sebastian Joe’s.
And then we walked down to the park (and stopped to smell the lilacs) because the weather was absolutely amazing.
Being together and enjoying each other was the perfect way to honor him today. I miss him every day and am so grateful he is my dad.
