57-Months-Old (+1 month +1 day) and 58-Months-Old (+1 day)!

It occurred to me today on my drive home from work that yesterday was the 23rd and I totally missed Maya's 58-months-old day...and then I just looked at last month's posts and realized I missed her 57-months-old day too...(thankfully I stopped doing Callie's month day after 60 months, so I'm almost to that point for Maya, because clearly my brain is mush).

So Maya is 58-months-old and one day and I'll celebrate that by writing about her and posting a bunch of pictures of her.

She makes so many people giggle.  Her personality is beyond awesome and she is becoming such a big girl.  She's a lovable weirdo and owns it and I hope she always will.  She loves to clean.  She loves animals and harasses Luna on a daily basis.  She is very particular about her clothes these days, and REFUSES TO WEAR ANY KIND OF SOCKS OR PANTS.  This proved difficult with snowstorms in April, but thankfully now I think we are in the clear and her not wearing pants or socks will be fine for awhile.

What else about Maya...she is so interested in reading and writing.  She won't read picture books though...they have to be chapter books (which she can't actually read but does a great job pretending).  Her favorite food is black beans and rice.  She would eat that at every meal if she could.  And if she had her pick of all desserts, she would still choose chips and salsa.  She's a salt girl like her mom.

She gets under Callie's skin and they fight like cats and dogs.  This summer is going to be interesting.

I'll leave you with a QOTD (before the pictures of course).  Callie was losing it about something, and Maya said "CALM YOUR HORSES DOWN, CALLIE."

Isn't that good life advice for us all?  ;)

Weekend Update

Oh my goodness did we have a busy weekend!

It was mostly just us girls this weekend because Chris headed out of town for Dan’s bachelor party weekend at a cabin. They had fun and all came back in one piece. 🤣

So I wake up early and that paid off on Saturday morning because I was awake in time to start the Royal Wedding coverage at 5am with my coffee and laptop in bed. The girls came down about 6:45 and finished the last 10 minutes of the wedding with me.

We found lilacs and had dance later that morning.

Then I dropped the girls off at Boom’s house for a sleepover! They had so much fun.

I got to go to the shower and Twins Game bachelorette party for my dear friend Adrea, who is getting married June 30th! 

This morning we played outside a little bit, before I dropped the girls off with Pa.

Then I went to Hanna’s shower with all the families thrown by the Gosselin aunts. It was so lovely and fun!

Less than 3 weeks to Dan and Hanna’s wedding and we are sooooooooo excited!!!!

Callie went with Boom to the Lynx home opener tonight.  She won a T-shirt and they ran into Chris’ friends Shadi and Belle.

We are all happily worn out. This week is the last full week of the school year. Bring it on.

A Picture Update

Monday- Maya’s usual day with Boom, Lucy and Iris.

Tuesday- playing outside after school.

Wednesday- G-ma and Maya went on a preschool field trip to Como Zoo.

And more time outside.

Last night I saw beautiful sunrays and this morning Luna and I finally saw the bloomed lilacs on our 5am walk.

Tonight I paid actual money for Callie to become a “member” of a math computer game she plays at school because she kept saying “I can’t believe math can be so fun!” And the paid membership gets her lots more fun math activities to do. I’ll take that over her spending her (limited) screen time watching silly shows any day. And she got Maya interested too!

M favorite Timehop in awhile is this one: last year Lucy was a calm, docile baby on Maya’s lap. Now she goes after her toys and her squeezies.

Weekend Wrap-Up: The Mother’s Day Edition!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there. I’m so thankful to have so many lovely and inspirational women in my life! 

We had a really fun weeeknd. Yesterday the girls woke up from their sleepover with Auntie Cat at G-ma and Pa’s and made Pa a special birthday sign and breakfast. We also got to see Nana and Papa! Papa and Chris were teaching Callie and Nana how to do something funny with their fingers

The girls were coo-coo-bananas-crazy before bedtime last night.

Last night G-ma, Pa, and Auntie Cat came over to play a new game for Pa’s birthday. Luna got in on the action too...

This morning I could tell that the sun was out and shining by 6:30am, so I headed out to my favorite running spot for the sunrays.

As you can see, they did not disappoint. We went to church and over to Boom’s house for the first part of the day. Auntie Yoda made us lunch and we all played with Lucy!

We got a group shot of all the girls, and of course it took a few tries to get a good one. The funny ones are also worth it!

Then we headed to G-ma and Pa’s house for a backyard BBQ. The weather was absolutely perfect. The girls had fun playing baseball, swinging, and making S’mores.

We got another couple pics of G-ma and her crew, but by this time the girls were pretty tuckered out.

This morning I told the girls that all I wanted for mother’s day was a nice picture in front of our tree. It is in full bloom this weekend, and I love it.

And the girls nailed it. I got my wish.
