Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!  We had a pretty chill weekend. The girls hung out yesterday morning before Lucy was picked up.

Then we went to the farmer’s market and got delicious lemonade. It was HOT. Callie loves to be a monkey and will climb a tree if she finds one climbable.

And here’s a high maintenance doggy face just for fun.

This morning we went to Dave and Busters for a bit.

And then it STORMED.

In between the weird weather systems we walked to the library. The clouds were pretty cool.

And then we made a "beach" treat.

The Lynx played this afternoon so we watched the game and Luna smushed me and Maya.

G-ma and Pa came over for a spaghetti dinner and also to to shopping at Maya’s store, apparently.

Have a great 4th of July week!

A Picture Update: Summer Week 3

Happy Friday!  First up, I realized I forgot to put the Lady Advice email info on the Wednesday column...so here you go:

If YOU have a question or need help from Lady Advice, please send an email to:

She looks forward to helping you soon!

It has been another fun and busy week!  Callie continued theater camp and this week Maya had VBS at church!  So I had the mornings to myself.  On Monday it was pretty stormy so we had a move night.

On Tuesday it was beautiful so we were able to spend time outside. Maya has no chill with Luna sometimes.

We went to Dick's Sporting Goods after Chris got home and you can see from their faces that they were little crazies in the store.

After a day or two of VBS, May developed a ridiculous cold because SHE ALWAYS DOES.  So she and I got some one-on-one time on Wednesday afternoon while Callie went with Auntie Cat, G-ma and Pa to go to the beach and to ride in Auntie Cat's new canoe.

She also got to sleep over at G-ma and Pa's house, that lucky girl.  And the cabbage she got from school this spring and planted with G-ma in her garden is growing so big!

Yesterday I decided to do my run near church so I could stop by the cemetery.  I just missed the big storm, but the clouds on the way home were pretty crazy and cool.

G-ma took the girls to their 2nd donut shop of the summer: Dunkin'.  Maya played with her super hero costume from VBS, and then LUCY came over!

Maya's kindergarten teacher planned a play date for her class last night, and thankfully the storms were done by the time the playdate happened, so Maya was able to go for a bit and see her teacher.

Today we played outside with Lucy this morning, and then after we dropped Maya off at VBS, Callie, Lucy and I went to a park and to get "JUICE! JUICE" for me...ha. I needed it by the end of the day.

The last half hour of VBS was a worship service we could go to, so we did!  We also donated money to help with brain research. Lucy helped Maya put the money in the container.

After nap time we went to the splash pad!

And then when we got home it was bath time, cocktail time, and MOVIE TIME.

I'm exhausted, but it was a fun week!  Click here to see some videos!  I apologize in advance for the number of clips that include “Baby Shark” but it’s a fave of a certain toddler. (Also the video is like 5 minutes long, just a heads up!)

Have a great weekend!

Wisdom Wednesday: Ask Lady Advice

ASK LADY ADVICE

This is a clue to Lady Advice's identity!

Dear Lady Advice,

I have a granddaughter.  We won't mention her name.  I try to get her to eat her vegetables, but she won't always. Do you have any advice on getting a granddaughter to like vegetables again?  She used to like them.  And I know they are healthy for her.

Dear Hopeful Grandfather,

I have a grandpa who hates sparkling water but I love it. Can I get some advice from you?

Dear Lady Advice,

I really like your new column and I learn something new each week!  Keep on writing. :).

I am a gramma with two great granddaughters.  However, it seems that they are growing up way too quickly!!  What is the best way to spend lots of time with them before they grow up and move away from home and go to college?

Thanks,
Gray Gramma

Dear Gray Gramma,
I sometimes feel that way about dogs. You could invite them over for sleepovers. I know they love those.

Dear Lady Advice,

I love your column.  Where did you get your journalism degree?  You're an excellent writer!!

I'm looking forward to taking my 9-year-old niece to a farm for 3 days.  She's grown up in the city, but is a good camper.  What should I do to prepare her for this new adventure of active farm life?

-Barn Cat

Dear Barn Cat,

I have always liked the farm. You could take her to the country fair, to see what it is like in farm life.

Timehop Tuesday

First off: the sun still calls me outside for early morning runs

Summer time girls:

And at this time, 6 years ago, Callie had no idea what she was in for (and neither did any of us!):

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday! We had a super fun weekend.  Early Saturday morning the sun shone through our shades, so I had to get out for a run.  And then after that the girls and I spent at least an hour coloring from Maya's new "Color by Number" book and listening to musical soundtracks (our current favorite: Wicked!).

Later that morning, while Chris took the girls to Toy Story 4, I met Nana, Auntie Karen, and Beth for  mani/pedis, and then Auntie Cat met us for lunch.  It was a lovely morning of pampering!

That evening Callie was BOUND AND DETERMINED to make dinner.  Maya was her little helper.  She found a recipe for apple muffins that she (mostly) followed, and they did not turn out that great... but she had a back-up plan of lots of other random things.

She was proud of herself and had a lot of fun!

This afternoon we went with Boom to see Shrek the Musical.  Boom is friends with the actor who played Shrek, so we got to meet him (and Princess Fiona!) after the show.  SO fun.

Then we headed downtown St. Paul to Chris' cousin Arieanna's graduation party.  The girls had so much fun hanging out with Arieanna, Annelise and their friends.  It was a lovely evening!

We have another busy week ahead of us, and I'm just grateful to still be in the first few weeks of summer.  I know how fast it goes!

Have a great week!

A Picture Update: Summer Week 2

Happy Friday!  We had a fun and busy week, and once again it went by SO fast.  Well, sometimes the days were REALLY LONG, but you know...long days, short years, yada yada, etc.

Anyway.  Callie had her 2nd week of the musical theater camp so Maya and I got some more one-on-one time.  On Monday we went to Edinborough and basically had it to ourselves for an hour.

That afternoon I took the girls to get HAIR CUTS.  Hooray!

We now have matching summer bobs!

Callie is supposed to listen to the CD of songs for her musical every day, but we didn't have a CD player at home.  Not even in our computers or anything...so I ordered a boom box on Amazon for $20 and got to teach the girls about CDs.  We have listened to some of my SUPER OLD CDs in the car lately, so Callie will likely be jamming to Kelly Clarkson and Britney Spears on the boom box after the musical is done.

On Tuesday, Maya and I had a pretty chill morning with Luna.

And then we went to the park, picked up Cal, and went to get ice cream.

G-ma picked up Maya on Tuesday afternoon for a SLEEPOVER!  She was so excited to go there by herself and got lots of G-ma and Pa time.

G-ma had Maya Wednesday morning and Callie had camp, so I had the morning to myself!  Then they had a picnic and went to a donut shop. They have a list of donut shops to get to this summer.

We went to see Boom and Lucy in the afternoon on Wednesday, and then went to Punch Pizza for dinner with Auntie Yoda.

Yesterday Maya and I met Jenna and the kids at the Grove for fun at the park and swimming.

Today we didn't have anything scheduled, so we went to the zoo!

The new Llama exhibit was pretty fun.

And Maya OWNED those goats and gave them the business, while one goat gave Callie a "hug."

Then the carousel and the park (and a wild snake sighting.  GROSS).

A few other pictures: here are a couple shots from the week at musical camp.  They are working hard on their show and next week have to have everything memorized!

And one of my new favorites:

Click here for a few videos (including some goat nonsense)!  Enjoy your weekend!
