Weekend Wrap-Up

And just like that Thanksgiving weekend is over and we are heading into December. So crazy. We had a fun weekend!

Yesterday morning we went over for a scrapbooking party to work on Hanna’s engagement scrapbook! It was SO fun to have a bunch of ladies working and chatting and scrapping together. We also played a game where we were in teams and had to create a veil for Hanna. As you can see, she will make a lovely bride. :)

We got to meet Hanna’s newest niece, Violet, and enjoy some itty baby snuggles!

Later we went to Boom’s house and hung out with Boom, John, and Jenny.

Callie was sick this morning, so she and I stayed home while Maya and Chris went to Sunday School.

When they got back, I got some snuggle time with Maya.

And we did some Christmas-ifying of the house.

G-ma and Pa came over later and G-ma helped me shop for, cut, and arrange stuff to make beautiful winter arrangements for our front pots! (Top photo credit: Maya).

I love how they turned out, and I’m excited to see them in the daylight! Thank you Mary!!

Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. The race to our crazy Callie birthday/Christmas bonanza is on!

A Picture Update

Happy Friday! What a week!

The girls the first part of this week: Callie had school Monday while Maya was with Boom, Iris and Lucy. Both girls had school on Tuesday. And both girls hung out with G-ma and Auntie Cat on Wednesday.

On Monday night we went to the library. Maya was very excited to find a book about Cowgirl Katie while she was wearing her own cowgirl boots!

On Tuesday night Callie had her last basketball camp. Here is another video of some highlights. My favorite is when she does her bounce pass.

If you mostly focused on Callie during the video, I would recommend watching it again to see all the other kids. The spinning and cartwheels and other shenanigans are pretty funny!

And then Wednesday night Jenna and I went to see the show “Waitress” and it was AMAZING! Such a fun mom’s night out, and VERY much needed.

And then yesterday was Thanksgiving! We had such a fun day. We spent a couple hours in the morning at G-ma and Pa’s house playing games and eating snacks.

Then we headed downtown to Boom’s house. We enjoyed a fun afternoon and Thanksgiving dinner with Boom, Uncle John, Aunt Jenny, Auntie Mari, Uncle Josh, Auntie Yoda, Uncle Craigles, Baby Lucy, Jenny’s mom Marti, and her boyfriend Bob. And of course, Iris!

The table was beautiful, everything was delicious, and Lucy ate some mashed potatoes for the first time!

G-ma, Pa, and Auntie Cat came over for dessert (and got some Lucy time).

And our group picture was mostly successful (52-month-olds can be stinkers).

Today we met Auntie Yoda, Uncle Craigles, Lucy, John, and Jen at Loring Park and the sculpture garden.

Tonight we were back at the condo to see everyone plus Amy, Peter, Bob, and Barbara.

I got a pretty cool downtown panoramic when the sun finally peeled through the gray clouds.

I’ll leave you with the family pic from Thanksgiving at Boom’s House.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

We hope you all found many reasons to be grateful today. We sure did.

(Also, happy 52-months-old to our Mighty Maya!)

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday! Callie slept overnight at Auntie Cat’s on Friday and had so much fun- including requesting a math test and measuring activity. And since Callie was gone, Maya had a blast being the only child at home!

Callie helped with Maya’s dance class on Saturday, which was good because Maya refused to do the first few songs of the class. Last week she refused to do the entire class. But Miss Connie got her going this week, and hopefully next week will be even better.

We met the Helds at the pool on Saturday afternoon. As you can tell, they all were so happy to get back into the water again!

This morning Callie and I watched Boom perform with the handbell choir at church. Then we headed over for brunch with Lucy, Auntie Yoda and Uncle Craigles. And then to Boom’s house for some more family time.

Tonight both girls did some “homework.” Callie’s (left) had a couple names at the top that I wasn’t sure about. When I asked who they were, she said those were the names she was going to give her daughter and son: Tinya (like TEEN-ya) and Carlos. She wouldn’t explain them any more.

And then Maya wrote out the whole alphabet. Looks like we just need to practice a few of the letters!

I can’t believe it is almost Thanksgiving. I hope everyone has a relaxing and delicious food-filled week.

A Picture Update

There aren’t too many pictures this week. And the author of this post cannot write in first person because her iPhone autocorrects the letter that sounds like “eye” to this: I️. Dumb.

So the author is going to keep it short because it has been a very long and slightly traumatic week (at work, not at home) and she needs to sleep for many hours. Hahahahahahaha.

Anyway, here’s Maya throughout the week:

And my crazy girls:

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hello! Happy Sunday. We had a pretty chill weekend. It was nice.

The girls and I were at Target by 7:30am on Saturday morning. It is always one of my favorite times of the weekend.  We loaded up on winter gear since snow was in the ground when we woke up!

When we got home we played school, and it is seriously impossible to predict what will come out of their mouths!

Maya had a dance “show” in which she refused to participate. Instead she sat between Chris’ legs and watched.

She couldn’t even be bribed by double gummy bears. She is something else sometimes.

We went over to Boom’s House later and had fun playing Scrabble and hanging out with Lucy.

Chris and the girls left and I hung out with Boom, Laura, Lucy and Mari.

Today we went to a book reading by the author  at the Red Balloon Booksop. Callie really liked the book (The Nutcracker Mice), so we got it for her and she got it signed by the author. Pretty cool! Maya was there for the snacks.

Tonight we read and danced and played and made sugar cookies. It was a good night.

Last but not least, I’ll leave you with a picture of a cool new superhero, appropriately named POOPERHERO.

Have a great week!

A Picture Update

Happy Friday!

Maya had fun with Boom, Lucy, G-ma and Pa this week.

I voted!!

Callie had basketball camp on Tuesday. She started last Thursday and goes Tuesdays and Thursdays this month. She hated the first one.  Chris took her and pretty quickly texted me and told me it was super intense. We got her to give it one more chance, and they clearly changed their tactics because she had WAY more fun the 2nd time.

I was caught off guard by my emotions leading up to taking her and then while being there and watching her. She was really anxious before going because of her initial experience, and I wanted to just be able  call up my dad and have him talk to her. And I also knew that if he had been around, they would have probably already been practicing basketball stuff so she would have felt more comfortable all around. And while watching her, I had flashbacks of being in other gyms and watching my dad as he coached Laura and Mari and their basketball teams. But thankfully, she had a much more positive experience the second time, and I was so proud watching her practice all the skills.
And you know I took some video!

Callie must have stolen my phone at some point last night, because I found this cute selfie in my pictures.

Tonight we went to dinner and then made a necessary stop. Callie found her fake glasses and wanted me to take a picture of her.

We are finally making a move to make bedtime a little later- 7:30 instead of 7:00. The first 5 mornings after daylight savings, Maya was wide awake sometime between 4:45am-5:15am. And then she would just play in her room, despite our best efforts to help her go back to sleep.

Soooooooo...last night we tried the later bedtime and she slept until almost 7am. Who knows if it is correlated, but we’re going to give it another shot!

Have a great weekend.
