Happy Long Weekend!

This was a bit of a crazy week, as it started with 2 girls with runny noses and ended with the older one having a fever.  It actually started last night, but thank goodness for kids Tylenol.  It was able to kick the fever each time so she seemed to feel ok (i.e. CRAZY), but only for the 6 hours and then it would come back again.  Hopefully she'll be able to sleep it off tonight.

So the fun fact about Callie today is that she is still a crazy little monkey even when she is sick.  Because she was still wanting to run around and be all over the place today, she got to watch a lot of stuff so that she'd stay in one place.  I'll be curious now how often she gets "sick" and "needs" to stay home and watch TV.  Ha.

The fun fact about Maya from this week is she is a crazy little monkey in the bath tub.  The girl has no fear of the water and just flings herself around in there.  If Target sold a straight jacket for one-year-olds to wear in the bathtub I'd totally buy it.  I have to hold her in place otherwise she'll flail her body and either slam her head into the side of the tub or land face first in the water.  It makes for a very interesting bath experience, to say the least.  And she finds herself to be absolutely HILARIOUS.

On to the pictures...

TBT

Throwbacks are usually my favorite posts each week because I love comparing the babies (in a completely non-judgmental and healthy way, I hope). But now since I'm working full time again, Thursdays mean that tomorrow is Friday.  And that is awesome.

And now for my throwbacks of the week...

Weekend Wrap-Up

Gosh DANG it.  Weekends go by way too quickly when you have to actually work for a living.  We had a fun one- which makes it go by even faster.

Saturday

Our latest tradition seems to be a girls' trip to Target right when it opens on Saturday mornings.  It is not crowded and I can get myself a latte at Starbucks.

One for two for listening when I say "say cheese".  Not bad.
Then we drove past a garage sale that happened to have a sweet doll house like the one that G-ma and G-pa have (probably had its prime circa 1990, but awesome nonetheless).  So we got it and it provided lots of entertainment for both girls throughout the weekend, but especially Callie.

It is hilarious to (stealthily) observe her imaginative play.  I say stealthily because, if she catches you watching her, you will be scolded.

Later that afternoon we headed over to the condo for a LYNX playoff party.  We had dinner and watched the Lynx game and mostly chased children around.  Maya even got a ride in Gi-Gi's "truck."

It was a party with Boom, Bops, Auntie Mari, her two room mates Kelsey and Lauren,
my Aunt Coco and Uncle Jim, and Gi-Gi.  Whew!

Sunday

The morning started out with a little naked play time.

Sometimes playing is just better done in the (almost) buff.

Later that morning we headed out for an organized walk in memory of our friend Alison's mom, Deb.  We walked three miles and all the girls did great in their respective vehicles.  It was hot and sticky, but a great start to the day and a wonderful way to honor Deb's memory.

We spend the afternoon at home, and even went outside a little bit despite the fact that it was SO hot and humid.

Poor Callie and her stinking nose.  It has been 2 days and it is already red
and chapped and non-stop runny.  And guess which little one-year-old's nose
started dripping like a faucet today?  Hooray for double nose colds!
Tonight I took the girls over to hang out with the Wicks' kids and Josh, Alison and Avery.  It was fun to see the five girls all running around crazy together!  We did manage to get them all lined up on the couch for a minute to get a picture.

Callie (4),          Sydney (3),           Kylie (2),        Avery (1),           Maya (1)
Not pictured: Baby Knutson, coming in February!
We found out this week that Avery is going to be a big sister.  So exciting!
The end of the weekend has me feeling thankful.  Tomorrow is the 3rd anniversary of the serious car accident that Chris, Dave, Nik and Nate were in out in Washington in 2011.  We're all grateful that everyone is doing pretty well now, though I know it is still something that impacts them all every day.

And now to gear up for another busy week...have a great one!

13-Months-Old!

Wow...we are already a month into one!

She is so stinkin' cute all the time. She still will have nothing to do with walking, even though I'm pretty sure she could totally do it if she tried. She just loves crawling too much, I guess.

She loves playing games...especially peek-a-boo. And crawling into places she isn't supposed to be.

But how can you get mad at that sweet face?

I'm sure I'll say this every month, but it is hard to picture life before this Little Squish.

FTPDF: The Happy Birthday (almost) Uncle Craig! and 56-Months-Old Edition!

Happy Friday!  TGIF!

First off, it is (almost) Uncle Craig's birthday today!  Happy Birthday!

Sorry, Craig, I have done a terrible job of taking pictures
of you.  This was the only non-group one I could find and
it was taken over a year ago.
The other thing about today is that our oldest is 56-months-old.

She is still her own personal stylist and informed us yesterday that she now has a boyfriend, Henrik, from preschool.  Wait, is she 4 and a half or 14???  Now I'm confused.

She also just caught her first fall cold, even though it is still summer.  Yay!  The endless drip drip drop of snot has begun!

Ok on to the pictures from the week...

Favorite Thing #1: Play time at home after busy days at work.

Favorite Thing #2: Guess who is all registered for ballet class?  Callie starts
dance class in a couple of weeks at the same studio I danced at for 14 years.
With the same teacher- Ms. Connie.  I'm so excited.  DANCE MOM!!!

Favorite Thing #3: This girl got two whole days with Boom all to herself.
Favorite Thing #4: Playing with Avery (and
dinner with Josh and Alison)
Favorite Thing #5: Crazy Maya (and demanding Callie)

The demands of 4-year-olds never seem to end...ha.

Favorite Thing #6: Dinner with G-ma, G-pa and Auntie Cat
Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday! We had a pretty chill weekend in which we spent most of our time catching up. Catching up from vacation. Catching up from the start of busy weeks. There was lots I laundry and lots of cleaning. And lots of wagon rides in between.

Maya also enjoyed doing some baby yoga in her crib before bedtime last night.

No one can rock footie jammies and crocs in August like our preschooler. And our baby keeps finding a friend in our kitchen.

Tonight we had some friends over for a BBQ. It poured so the guys got creative with our new grill. The girls had fun playing with Charlie and Mabel.

Have a great week!

FTPDF

Well guys, it was my first full week back to work full time.  As I kind of expected, I sucked at taking pictures this week.  We spent the majority of the evenings in survival mode- especially after being fresh off of vacation.  We got the girls fed and (sometimes) bathed and put to bed and then...I crashed.  It was a shock to my system, but it will get easier.  We survived.

The girls are good- they are so adaptable.  Callie is back at preschool and still busy as a bee all of the time.  Maya is still crawling all over (sometimes to the point of red, chapped knees and shins) but turns into a wet noodle (she makes her limbs go totally limp) if you try and make her stand or walk.  She turns into a wet noodle a lot actually- it is her way of getting out of doing anything she doesn't want to do (getting picked up, going into the car seat, etc.).  That, and the occasional screech that she learned from her big sister. Brilliant strategy.  She is also doing some awesome nonsense babbling.  It is hilarious because she looks so sure about what she is saying.

On to the pictures.

Favorite Thing #1: Hanging out downtown with Boom
(and Auntie Yoda and Auntie Mari).

Favorite Thing #2: Hanging with G-ma and G-pa.

Favorite Thing #3: Hanging with Mommy and Daddy in the evenings.
I mentioned a couple weeks ago that our friend Nik took some family pictures.  We got them back this week, so here are some of my favorites.

Have a great weekend!

TBT

Happy Thursday!  I haven't even delved in to the new month of Baby Callie pictures yet (January 2011???!?!?!), so I decided to do all the throwbacks from the babies' first Gosselin family vacation.  Callie's first trip with everyone was going to Camp du Nord when she was about 8 months old.  So baby Callie is a few months younger than baby Maya in all these throwbacks, but there were still similarities between the two trips.

Glacier Week Wrap-Up: Part III

Ok here is my final post on Glacier.  Part one is here, and part two is here.

Now we are on to our last full day, Saturday, and our travel day on Sunday.

SATURDAY:

G-pa, Uncle Dan, Chris and I left early in the morning to do some more hiking
in Glacier National Park.  This hike was to an overlook of Hidden Lake.  We
wanted to hike down to the lake, but that part of the trail was closed due to bear
danger.

We still got to see incredible views.

Then we met G-ma, Auntie Cat and the girls back at Lake McDonald
for an afternoon of swimming and relaxing by the lake.

The water was SO cool and refreshing, I even tried
handstands and flips- water tricks I haven't done for years.
My pointed foot form still looks excellent, don't you think?
Maya was always entertaining us during meals as she pounded down the
food she liked and tossed the food that she didn't off the tray/table.
SUNDAY:

We got to take one last mountain walk before we left, and Cal had fun
collecting wild flowers.
Our travel back home went fairly smoothly.  Callie fell asleep in the car on the
way to the airport at 11:30am (sign of a great vacation!) and enjoyed a Huckleberry smoothie
once we got there (huckleberries are a big thing out there in the mountains).  Maya did
pretty well on the plane because Chris is awesome at getting her to sleep.
All in all, as you can see, it was a fabulous trip.  Thanks to G-ma, G-pa, Uncle Dan and Auntie Cat for everything!
