Timehop Tuesday

Ooops! I had a really busy day yesterday and definitely missed Timehop Tuesday…but I’m wide awake at 4am on Wednesday so I think it should still count…

First up…paddle boarding!

And then summer cousin time!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!  We continued our busy week by having a pretty busy weekend.

On Saturday morning we were home getting stuff done...and Luna wanted to help with laundry.

Then we met Boom, Auntie Yoda, Uncle Craigles, Lucy and Mila at a beach near their house. It was a lovely afternoon!

We got an adorable cousin picture and then it got pretty funny!

The girls went home with Auntie Yoda, Uncle Craigles and the girls for a sleepover... so Chris and I ended up with a date night at my fave Mexican restaurant and then a stop at Home Depot to get new pot flowers!

Meanwhile, the girls had a cousins pizza party and more playtime.

Maya slept in Lucy's room (Callie was in the the basement) and the two girls were up to some shenanigans at bedtime.   They were awake early this morning...and went to get donuts and go to a park.

We picked them up from the park and headed to Sylvia's birthday party at a pool!

So we have had a quieter evening...we watched the Lynx game!  It has been awhile since we have watched the Lynx.

Take care this week.  It has been a tough few days for women in our country.  I don't know what exactly to say about it, so I'll end with posting a couple tweets and protest signs that spoke to me.

Summer Update: Week 2

Happy Friday!  The week flew by...as all summer weeks do.

Monday was HOT.  I went for a run early, found a new salad recipe to try, and we spent a lot of time in our cool basement.

So much indoor time created some chaos.

After dinner we made donuts with a kit we got from Boom.

The girls made this photo and thought it was HILARIOUS.

On Tuesday I brought Luna with me to pick up Callie from theater and she was SO excited.

Then we met Boom at a beach in Eden Prairie!  It was a beautiful afternoon.

On Wednesday I finally finished my first birthday puzzle, Maya had fun on her 3rd day at VBS, and the girls enjoyed the pool and floaties out in our backyard.

Maya's last day of VBS was Thursday, which culminated in candy being shot out of an upstairs window with a leaf blower.

The we met the Held girls at the beach!

This morning Maya helped Pa make a big batch of spaghetti sauce!

Then we met the Dahlens at the pool…and ended up getting a season pass. I think we’ll spend a lot of time there this summer.

Tonight Auntie Cat came over for a deck dinner!

As you can see, the tween was being totally normal the whole time…ha!

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up: Then Dance Recital/Father’s Day Edition!

Hello!  Happy Sunday!  And Happy Father's Day to all the awesome dads out there!

Since getting home from Colorado (click here if you missed my CO blog!), we have been BUSY.  Callie started her summer musical rehearsals (Legally Blonde!) and Maya kept me busy at home.

On Thursday night we had dance recital rehearsal...which went from 4pm to 8:15pm...by the end the girls and I were SO TIRED.

Yesterday morning I took Luna for a run (she is out of shape) and then we decided to get out my 40th birthday paddle boards to make sure they inflated well and worked...and then decided to just take them to the beach!

The inaugural paddle was GREAT!  I took Callie out for a bit, and then went further into the late on my own.  It was pretty windy coming back, but I made it.

Then Maya helped Chris with yard work while I worked on my puzzle!

Last night both girls were in the dance recital.  Maya had one dance and Callie had three.  It was awesome (and 3 hours long)!  And we were grateful to Boom, G-ma and Pa for coming to support them.

I took these pictures at the rehearsal on Thursday, hence the machinery behind Maya.

If you are interested in seeing their dances, I have linked each of them below (videos were also taken at the rehearsal).
Maya- Under the Sea!
Callie- In the Money

This morning we had a fun beach time with Pa, Hanna, Mitchell and Isla.  It was a lovely day and we enjoyed playing in the sand and lake.

Have a great week!

Summer Update Week 1: The Colorado Mega-Post!

Hello everybody!  The first week of summer is (almost) done, and we spent most of it in Colorado!

Right away Friday morning we hopped on a plane to Denver and made it to Auntie Mari and Uncle Josh's house in time for lunch! After lunch we went on a walk and the girls played a bit at a park.

It was HOT in Denver over the weekend. We spent the late afternoon down in their cool basement playing darts and playing with their adorable dog, Rocky!

My Uncle John got me and Great Margie tickets to see Moulin Rouge at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts!  The show was AMAZING...one of the favorite shows I have seen in awhile!

On Saturday morning the girls and I headed to the pool with Auntie Mari and Uncle Josh, complete with water slides!  It was already in the late 80s for temps at 10am, so the pool felt GREAT.

After that, we met Boom, Great Margie, Uncle John and Aunt Jen out for lunch, where I got myself a margarita and some tacos (and Callie stole my phone to take a goofy filter photo)!  We also went for ice cream and played with Rocky back at Mari and Josh's house.

Uncle Josh got the backyard ready for our evening BBQ.  Great Margie, her dog Blue, Uncle John and Aunt Jen came over for some backyard fun.  Maya had fun learning how to throw a baseball with Uncle John and Uncle Josh. Callie and Boom got in the action too!

Thankfully their backyard was shady, so it wasn't too hot and we were able to enjoy being outside together.

On Sunday morning we made a couple stops for various breakfast items!  First up was Rosenbergs for bagels...then City Donut for donuts! Both were delicious...

We spent a bit of time at Mari and Josh's house after bringing over breakfast...Callie snuggled Rocky and Boom played with the girls out in the rocks.

Then we headed up to Georgetown (about 45 minutes up in the mountains) for a walk around a mountain lake.  Maya rode with us and we had fun looking at all the beautiful scenery on the way.

It was a beautiful day...and a lot cooler up there then back in Denver!

We tried getting lunch at a brewery up there, but it was so busy and ended up waiting a LONG time before leaving and getting gas station snacks because there weren't many other food options.  As you can see, Callie stole my phone and took silly pictures while we were waiting...those about summed up our feelings about the experience...ha!

Later we went over to John and Jenny’s house for dinner and the Tony Awards! Their housemate, Vito, made us an amazing meal.

The girls LOVED UP Great Margie’s dog, Blue, and John and Jen’s dog, Cooper.

On Monday morning the four of us were on the road by 7am to head up to the mountains!  But before we got too far, we had to get get coffee and bagels.

Our drive up to the mountains was STUNNING.

We stopped near Grand Lake to go for a hike to a lovely waterfall.

We went a a bit less than a mile past the waterfall and came to this beautiful scene.

Then we continued into Rocky National Park...and on the ride up to the gate to get in, these elk/moose were just hanging out right by the road!

Once in the park we stopped a few more times to see the scenery and do a bit of hiking.

Maya had fun tracking our route on the actual paper map...AND there was snow!

This is one of the favorite pics I took all day!

About 1.5 hours into Rocky National Park we stopped at the lone restaurant in the park and sat out on the deck.  On the way back down we saw a bit more wildlife and more lovely mountain scenery.

We stopped at the Continental Divide and hiked a bit down to see the snow.  Chris (of course) immediately made a snowball to throw at me.

Click here for a fun compilation of all the videos we took on the trail!

Once we got back to Grand Lake, we had about 45 minutes before we could check into our "mountain house" Airbnb, so we found a mini-golf course! Maya had to use a net to get her ball out of the pond during one of the holes.

And then...we got to our BEAUTIFUL mountain house.  The rooms were beautiful.  The views were gorgeous.  And the girls were ecstatic about the little hideaway under the stairs.

We drove to the town of Grandby for dinner, and Maya and I were glad we didn't have to look at the creature on the wall staring at us during our meal.  On the way home we saw some amazing sun rays.  And then the girls played some Guess Who? before bed.

On Tuesday morning I was awake about 5:15am to do yoga.  I enjoyed my view!  And then I got to watch the sunrise start, before clouds came in.

We had another day driving through the mountains ahead of us. We left early again (7am!), got bagels, and headed back up and down the mountain through Rocky National Park.  Our destination was Estes Park.

We stopped a couple times to take in the gorgeous scenery, however at the top of the mountain the temperature was 28 degrees and the wind was insane!  See the video later for some evidence of the crazy drive.

When we got to Estes, we started with the tram up a mountain (but first, we got the girls cozy Estes sweatshirts). The ride was awesome and the view from the top was amazing.

Up on top of the mountain we did a little exploring and found a bunch of chippies!

Callie definitely made a new friend.

The ride down was crazy windy, but fun.

Back in town we hit up Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (of course) and had a great brunch.

Then we headed back into the park to go back up and down the mountains and back to Grand Lake. We saw a lot of animals on the way back!

We also did a waterfall hike...

...and Maya did some rock climbing!

Click here for another set of videos from our time in the park!

Boom gave the girls money to pick out souvenirs, so when we got back to town we went to a funky souvenir shop and the girls made their picks!

After heading to the market to pick up stuff for dinner, we enjoyed the backyard of the mountain house and played some games.

And we made a spaghetti dinner and had more game time…including triangle dominoes.

After dinner the girls took my phone to do a house tour...click here and don't mind the mess!

On Wednesday morning I was up for yoga and the sunrise (as per usual).

We got up, packed up right away and said goodbye to our lovely mountain house. As we were driving to breakfast, one last creature said goodbye to us! We got breakfast (with a crabby 8yo) at a cute little place in town.

Then we went to see the Grand Lake up close and had another up close encounter with wildlife!

Then it was time to head back to Denver to the airport…but not before we took our Chipotle lover to the very first ORIGINAL Chipotle! We went to eat in Auntie Mari and Uncle Josh’s backyard and got a little more Rocky love.

All in all it was a wonderful and much needed vacation. We are all grateful for the beauty we saw and the time we spent together!

Now summer really starts...and this weekend will be crazy busy with the dance recital!  I'll be back on Sunday with a wrap-up of all that chaos.
