Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!

We had a busy weekend. The girls had dance on Saturday and then went to a movie with Uncle Dan and Auntie Hanna!

Then I took Callie to her friend Ciri’s birthday party at an American Ninja Star gym.

Maya was the toddler whisperer this weekend. Weston and Maya were SO adorable together. Especially with bedhead and jammies on.

After church today we went to hang out with Boom, Iris, Auntie Yoda and Lucy!

And we FaceTimed with Auntie Mari too!

Callie decorated for Halloween and is very excited it is nearly October.

I’ll leave you with a few videos from the weekend. Click here!

Happy October!

A Picture Update

It’s been another week, guys.

So let me share the bright spots.

This girl.

The Stolle’s are in town! Maya and Weston are THE CUTEST together. And Callie is a goof.

This showed up on my phone, meaning it was something one of the girls did on a drawing app on the iPad and it came through my icloud. It made me LOL.

I had a girls night with queso and margaritas.

And I’ll leave you with what I posted late this afternoon:

TGIF. I hope I can raise these two to be as brave and badass as some of the women I watched during this hard and historic week.

Now time for some red wine and snuggling.

Have a great weekend.

Weekend Wrap-Up

This will be short and sweet today. I developed a cold and am just a little tapped out.

Yesterday: A foggy run, dance class, shoe shopping with Maya (which is a ridiculously long process), and Luna antics.

Then Chris took the girls to a birthday party while I went out with Jenna!

Today: Sunday school!

Some time outside, a hair update (plus sunrays), and hanging out downtown with Boom.

More great sunrays through the window tonight.

I’ll leave you with some things I found on the Internet this week that made me smile, or that I connected with.

Have a great week!

A Picture Update

Hey Everybody!

It finally feels like fall and I’m pretty excited about sweatshirt weather.

This week we ended up sending Maya to Boom’s house instead of Kindergarten on Monday because she barely slept the night before due to a cough.

Thankfully she feels better now.

On Tuesday the girls had their 2nd week of fall swimming lessons. Callie was super nervous about it. But she did great.

For a short video, click
here!

Let’s see...on Wednesday G-ma had to perform “surgery” on Polyester the Fox.

Yesterday was so stormy and rainy. We hunkered down after school and did some iPad art. And Luna looked cute.

Now to change the mood a bit.

I feel like I need to end this post on a serious note because I can’t stop thinking about what the heck is going on in our country right now regarding women. I have not experienced any kind of sexual harassment or assault, and I consider myself extremely lucky. As a mom of 2 girls, it makes me terrified and completely flabbergasted about how in the world to address all of these big scary issues. At this point I still feel like the girls are too young and sheltered to know or ask about it, but I also know that innocence is not going to last much longer.

The other part that this drags up for me is absolute frustration and devastation that my dad, a person who had always been the most stand up and wonderful man and dad, is not freaking here to be one of the good guys. All I hear about in the news and on social media are all the bad guys. But he could have been one of the good ones. It’s really hard to reconcile that in my brain.

Thankfully I have so many other wonderful men in my life. So many. But the one that is missing...it is just hard.

Anyway. Thanks for sticking with me this far. I appreciate all the love and support we continue to get from our people. So much love back to you.

Weekend Wrap-Up

It’s. So. Hot.

We sweated throughout our weekend but didn’t let it slow us down.

Yesterday I took Luna for an almost-3-mile run before it was miserable. She was pretty pooped after it.

The girls each had dance class. Callie’s class now writes down their steps in a notebook, so that was a fun new development. Boom came with, and she, Maya and I went to get lunch during Callie’s class.
Then we got to watch Callie be the assistant teacher for Maya’s class.

I'm having technical difficulties at the moment.  But check back later for videos from Maya’s dance class.

After dance I dropped the girls off with Auntie Cat for a few hours. Maya got to do her favorite thing...clean! And they got snacks, of course.

This morning we got Lucy! She spent the day with us and is having a sleepover, too.  We played outside and inside. We went to an open streets festival called Penn Fest. We got really sweaty there so the girls had a triple bath.

For more Lucy shenanigans, check back later.  Hopefully I'll be able to post the videos soon, but they are not cooperating at the moment.

Have a great week!

The Story of a Haircut

This is completely stupid and totally unrelated to either child that this blog is supposed to be about.

And with everything happening in the world, it is a completely self-indulgent, first world problem whine session. Forgive me.

This is about the haircut I got today. On a whim.

Look at what my hair was...a disaster.

You can maybe guess where this is going.

So I wanted to get it shorter. I found a cute picture of a model with curlyish hair like me in a cute bob cut.

The stylist (who I’m pretty sure was very new) gushed over my curls. She cut it dry (which no one has ever done before). She went slow. Methodical. Lots of pulling at strands on either side to make sure they were even. There was talk about texture and layers. And then I got a nice hair wash and head massage and conditioning treatment.

And then she diffused my hair. If you don’t know curly hair lingo, a diffuser is attached to a hair dryer to make curls curlier and less frizzy.

But you guys...THEN SHE COMBED THE DRY CURLS OUT.

Again, if you don’t know how curly hair works, I’ll explain to you that combing curls out, and adding lots of product, and doing some weird fluffing and more combing, makes short, curly hair look like this:

Which reminds me of a meme I LITERALLY JUST FOUND on the internet and saved:

So...just to recap:

I paid the $65 (GASP) and came home, wet my hair down, re-diffused, and got out my curling iron.

I think it is salvageable. And maybe even looks kind of like what I had wanted...?

I will have to continue experimenting with my various hair taming instruments.

In the meantime, I’m jealous of my bald husband and the 0% of his time he spends making his hair look decent. And that is a good excuse to repost our fancy family picture from Dan and Hanna’s wedding since it shows off his bald head (and our two cute flower girls...and my awesome dress).

Thank you for allowing me to vent about something so utterly ridiculous.

Hopefully in future pictures you will be able to tell that I figured out how to tame my tresses in the appropriately hip bedhead style of the day.

A Picture Update

Happy Friday! Maya talked about colors this week in Kindergarten and had to wear a different color every day!

She is loving school and it makes me so happy.

Other pictures from the week: more from school!

Boom’s birthday dinner!

Before and after school (and a bus drill).

And there were some pretty great sunrays this week too...reflected through my side mirror.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday!

Chris was gone for a bachelor party most of the weekend, so it was me and the girls.

We had the first dance classes of the year on Saturday. I took the top left picture in my car and captioned it because they were just being little monkeys! But dance was fun and it was great to see Ms. Connie again.

Then we met Jenna and the kids at Edinborough to burn off more energy. They came back to our house after and had fun playing outside. It was beautiful out!

This morning was the first Sunday school class, and then we went to Boom’s house. She had been in Alaska the past couple of weeks so it was great to hear about her trip and see pictures!

As you can see above on the right, all weekend the girls have been using the big cul-de-sac as a chalkboard. Hopefully the neighbors don’t mind!

Callie has been asking to do a water ballon fight for awhile now, so we stopped to get some on our way home from downtown.

Finally, my Uncle Larry completed his NINTH Ironman race tonight! I tracked him all day and was able to watch him finish on the live feed. Congrats Uncle Larry (in the blue shirt and white visor).

It is so inspiring to watch the live feed of the finish line.

Have a great week everybody!
