You guys.
I can't even begin to describe this weekend. And how amazing it was. And special. And healing. And fantastic. And perfect.
My sister Mari was the most beautiful bride. And the most chill bride. And the most organized bride. And the most gracious bride.
I was just so damn proud of her and my family and how we were all able to come together and experience SO MUCH JOY after a year of so much grief.
It was truly magical.
So. Here is my first round of pictures. These pictures are all from cell phones or pictures that I stole from other people's posts on Facebook.
There will be many many more posts of pictures, but I hope this is a good start and will convey the happiness and excitement that was our whole weekend.
First up: FRIDAY. Mari's girls had a mani/pedi morning. Maya learned how to spell Mari's new last name. And family began to arrive!
The rehearsal was at 5:00. The girls had fun running around the big church and actually did pretty well practicing being flower girls.
We had a wonderful Groom's Dinner downtown hosted by the Sharpes. Excitement was in the air!!!
Next up: SATURDAY! WEDDING DAY!!!!
Mari and all her bridesmaids and personal attendants started the day at 7:45 at the hair salon. We had bagels and mimosas and enjoyed being together. And all our hairdos turned out beautifully!!
After everyone was done, we headed to the church to get ready! One of the things my mom had to do was find a covert place to warm up her flute. Unbeknownst to Mari, she was going to join the ensemble on their piece of music during the ceremony. She found some bushes to hide behind to practice!
While we were getting ready at the church, G-ma and Hanna were getting the girls ready. I think they looked pretty dang adorable. We were very lucky that G-ma and Pa kept the girls all weekend so that we could relax and enjoy ourselves (and not adhere to a bed time)! Thanks G-ma, Pa, Auntie Cat, Uncle Dan and Hanna for all the help this weekend!
After Mari got ready, it was time for all of us to do the same.
The ceremony was lovely and sweet and personal. Maya didn't make it as a flower girl, but Callie and I walked down the aisle together. My mom walked Mari down the aisle and they were both radiant. Josh's dad Kevin and our Uncle Joe officiated.
After the ceremony and receiving line, the bridal party tooled around town in a (VERY HOT) stretch hummer to take some pictures. Their photographer was amazing and I can't wait to see all the fun shots he got! They even included some shaved ice, so Mari's tongue was blue for awhile.
While we were riding around, the wedding guests enjoyed a cocktail hour outside, listening to a live band. We got there with some time to enjoy the signature drink "Two Gingers" and socialize with everyone. Inside there was a table of pictures to remember our Dad and grandparents.
There was a grand march of the wedding party and then Josh and Mari had their first dance.
Before dinner, my mom ROCKED her welcoming speech. Dinner was DELICIOUS. Towards the end of dinner, the best man, Pedro, and Laura and I all ROCKED our toasts.
And did I say dinner was DELICIOUS? I didn't eat a lot of it (because nerves) but I heard really good things from other people. It was fun hanging out at the head table and being goofy with the girls.
So then there was DQ ice cream cake. And then the Mother/Son dance, where Josh's mom Julie and Josh invited all mothers and sons to join them on the dance floor.
And then, it was time for the party to really get started. To kick it off, Mari gave a lovely speech about our dad and how, though he was usually quiet and calm, loved to embarrass us girls whenever he got the chance. Especially on the dance floor. In anticipation of not having the traditional father/daughter dance, my mom, sisters and I choreographed and rehearsed a little dance to the song "We Are Family" to get the party started.

After some dancing, there was an AMAZING SUNSET. You guys, it was so beautiful.
Those sunrays, right?
The evening continued on with dancing and laughing and hugging and drinking and talking and sweating and smiling.
Congrats to Mari and Josh! They pulled off an amazing celebration filled with so much love and light. They ended their night on the dance floor, and I look forward to watching them start their new life together.
Stay tuned in the coming weeks for lots more pictures. Thanks again to everyone for all of their love and support.
