Weekend Wrap-Up

Hello!  Happy Monday!

We had a lovely and chill weekend.

We were pretty boring most of the day on Saturday- just cleaning and doing yard work.

Cal had dance, and there are just a couple weeks left before her recital!  We got her dance pictures, and I got my first dance costume button (the same kind of buttons I had when I was a kid in dance).

"Hard Knock Life"

But then our friends came over and made our day way more fun!

Baby Sylvia, Mabel, and Charlie!
On Sunday I did my usual morning run.  However, the half marathon I signed up to do next weekend was CANCELLED!  So...I have decided that I'm going to focus on the 10K I have signed up for in July.  I'm doing a tougher training plan, and am excited to try out a new distance.

In the afternoon, the girls and I met Hanna and Shambles for a walk!

Maya was super sweet this weekend, in between tantrums. And refusing to nap. :)

Today we went downtown and found DINOSAUR FOOTPRINTS on our walk!  The Zoo is doing a fun promotion or something.  Callie was fascinated by them!

Tonight we met G-ma, Pa, Boom, Uncle Dan and Hanna at Lake Harriet for a picnic and to listen to live music.  It was CRAZY BUSY there, but a beautiful night.  So we had a lot of fun!

Have a great week.

A Picture Update

Happy Friday!  Happy Long Weekend!!!

It has been a weird week- coming off of the wedding high, end of year craziness, etc.  It will be nice to have an extra day off this weekend.

My first set of pictures is actually from last Sunday when our family was still here.  We went on a walk downtown.

It was so nice to have all of our family in town for a happy reason.  So so nice.

Maya had a blast with Boom, G-ma and Pa this week.

It feels like summer!  It is so close.

We had our first corn-on-the-cob of the summer.  Corn was always one of my dad's favorites.  He won corn eating contests when he was a kid.  It was fun to talk about him while we ate it.  And, as Maya said, "It is really good, Mom."

I took a few girls selfies this week.

Callie performed in a Kindergarten Concert yesterday during the day.  On one of the songs, she got to be the 5th frog.  Very exciting (but no singing apparently).

She totally ignored the fact that Chris, Pa, Maya and I were there.  But she actually sang most of the other songs and did the actions.  It was way better than the days of her preschool concerts when she would have her jewelry in her mouth or stare at the floor.

The girls have a new favorite song, that was popular a couple of years ago for who knows what reason:  "What Does the Fox Say?"

Today Maya and Boom met Auntie Yoda for lunch and then Callie snuggled Boom after school.

Later Mom and I went to the Lynx game!

I'll be back on MONDAY for the weekend wrap up. Yay for long weekends!

More Wedding Pics!

So I have gotten good at stalking Facebook looking for people who posted wedding photos...and then stealing them. So here are more "amateur" photos from other people.

34-Months-Old!!

But We are two months away from having a threenager, though it sometimes seems like she already is 3. Holy mood swings, toddler! :)

But holy sweetness and goofiness too!

She is navigating the world in between babyhood and preschool land and it can sometimes be confusing. But dang is she smart!

I am slightly terrified but mostly excited for what the summer will bring. For example: potty training. Gulp!

I have three more weeks until the carefree life of diapers is over. Wish me luck. :)

Weekend Wrap-Up: THE WEDDING EDITION!!!!!!!!!!

You guys.

I can't even begin to describe this weekend.  And how amazing it was.  And special.  And healing. And fantastic.  And perfect.

My sister Mari was the most beautiful bride.  And the most chill bride.  And the most organized bride. And the most gracious bride.

I was just so damn proud of her and my family and how we were all able to come together and experience SO MUCH JOY after a year of so much grief.

It was truly magical.

So.  Here is my first round of pictures.  These pictures are all from cell phones or pictures that I stole from other people's posts on Facebook.

There will be many many more posts of pictures, but I hope this is a good start and will convey the happiness and excitement that was our whole weekend.

First up: FRIDAY.  Mari's girls had a mani/pedi morning. Maya learned how to spell Mari's new last name.  And family began to arrive!

The rehearsal was at 5:00.  The girls had fun running around the big church and actually did pretty well practicing being flower girls.

We had a wonderful Groom's Dinner downtown hosted by the Sharpes.  Excitement was in the air!!!

Next up: SATURDAY!  WEDDING DAY!!!!

Mari and all her bridesmaids and personal attendants started the day at 7:45 at the hair salon.  We had bagels and mimosas and enjoyed being together.  And all our hairdos turned out beautifully!!

After everyone was done, we headed to the church to get ready!  One of the things my mom had to do was find a covert place to warm up her flute.  Unbeknownst to Mari, she was going to join the ensemble on their piece of music during the ceremony.  She found some bushes to hide behind to practice!

While we were getting ready at the church, G-ma and Hanna were getting the girls ready.  I think they looked pretty dang adorable.  We were very lucky that G-ma and Pa kept the girls all weekend so that we could relax and enjoy ourselves (and not adhere to a bed time)!  Thanks G-ma, Pa, Auntie Cat, Uncle Dan and Hanna for all the help this weekend!

After Mari got ready, it was time for all of us to do the same.

The ceremony was lovely and sweet and personal. Maya didn't make it as a flower girl, but Callie and I walked down the aisle together. My mom walked Mari down the aisle and they were both radiant.  Josh's dad Kevin and our Uncle Joe officiated.

After the ceremony and receiving line, the bridal party tooled around town in a (VERY HOT) stretch hummer to take some pictures.  Their photographer was amazing and I can't wait to see all the fun shots he got!  They even included some shaved ice, so Mari's tongue was blue for awhile.

While we were riding around, the wedding guests enjoyed a cocktail hour outside, listening to a live band.  We got there with some time to enjoy the signature drink "Two Gingers" and socialize with everyone.  Inside there was a table of pictures to remember our Dad and grandparents.

There was a grand march of the wedding party and then Josh and Mari had their first dance.

Before dinner, my mom ROCKED her welcoming speech.  Dinner was DELICIOUS.  Towards the end of dinner, the best man, Pedro, and Laura and I all ROCKED our toasts.

And did I say dinner was DELICIOUS?  I didn't eat a lot of it (because nerves) but I heard really good things from other people.  It was fun hanging out at the head table and being goofy with the girls.

So then there was DQ ice cream cake.  And then the Mother/Son dance, where Josh's mom Julie and Josh invited all mothers and sons to join them on the dance floor.

And then, it was time for the party to really get started.  To kick it off, Mari gave a lovely speech about our dad and how, though he was usually quiet and calm, loved to embarrass us girls whenever he got the chance.  Especially on the dance floor.  In anticipation of not having the traditional father/daughter dance, my mom, sisters and I choreographed and rehearsed a little dance to the song "We Are Family" to get the party started.

There's even video!

After some dancing, there was an AMAZING SUNSET.  You guys, it was so beautiful.

Those sunrays, right?

The evening continued on with dancing and laughing and hugging and drinking and talking and sweating and smiling.

Congrats to Mari and Josh!  They pulled off an amazing celebration filled with so much love and light.  They ended their night on the dance floor, and I look forward to watching them start their new life together.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for lots more pictures.  Thanks again to everyone for all of their love and support.
