19-Months-Old!
Maya Leigh has been with us 19 months now, and I can not even begin to describe how much I love this little toddler.
I looked back at Callie's 19-months-old post, and I remember her at this age...so vividly...and it seems like SO long ago.
But this post is all about Miss Maya.
She is so sweet, and sometimes serious.
And has a love for all things animal related (especially looking at pictures of kittens and puppies on the iPad).
And then, there is the total sister adoration.
As you can see, the feeling is mutual.
All in all, this little beauty has a lot of people's hearts in the palm of her little toddler hand.

Weekend Wrap-Up
Happy Sunday!
I got nothing for you tonight...just some pictures (and a video!). I don't have any witty stories or a good way to launch in to the wrap-up, so here we go.
Saturday
We did errands, stopped by the condo, and played at home.
My mom has always hid a baby Mickey in a little stand that they have. Callie always loved to look for it when she went over to their place, and now Maya loves to do it too!
IMG 4199 from Baby Goose on Vimeo.
Callie was up at 5:30am, and also developed another lovely head cold, so she was pretty much a disaster all day. Maya was adorable all day. Hence all the adorable Maya pictures. Sorry Callie. Kona got some love, too.
I forgot to mention this earlier in the week, but our friends Josh and Alison had a baby boy, Eli, on Tuesday night! He joins big sister Avery. Maya, Chris and I got to go visit them on Saturday evening. Callie stayed home and hung out with Uncle Dan, so as to not spread her copious snot germs to a little baby.
Sunday
Once again I took more pictures of Maya because she is hilarious and I can't stop. But I also managed to snap one of the older one too.
We went to the Held's for dinner and the kids ran around like crazy. It is fun now that Maya can join in on the playing.
Have a great week!

Happy Weekend!
It has been another busy week! We are settling into a new-ish routine and I'm glad about that.
Callie and Maya's biggest update for this week is just how stinking adorable they are. Especially when they are together. They have their moments of irritation at each other, obviously, but for the most part they are great together. Callie's latest thing is using a high, patronizing baby voice when talking to Maya. And then Maya will imitate that high voice when talking to her animals or dolls.
Hilarious.
You'll see a little bit of them together on the video at the end of this (short) post.
I really don't have very many pictures this week.

Happy Throwback!
I feel like I haven't done my "typical" throwback the past few weeks, so I went back to that for this week. I love comparing the girls at the same ages, and seeing how they are alike and different.
Looking back at Callie at almost 19-months was a fun ride down memory lane, because that was kind of a crazy time.
Why, you ask? It was when she had Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. So most pictures of her from that time show red sores around her mouth.
The other thing that I realized was that we have NEVER taken Maya to the Children's Museum. When Callie was her age we had a freaking MEMBERSHIP to the museum. Granted, we also lived much closer. But, once again, poor 2nd baby!
Lastly, both Callie and I had bangs when she was almost 19-months. Lesson learned this time around...for both of us.

I figured if I showed Callie looking like a mess, I should show Maya looking like a mess too. :) |

Videos...As Promised
I mentioned yesterday, I took some cute videos of the girls over the weekend.
Here they are!
On the trampoline. I can't stop laughing at the end part where Maya looks like she is running in fast motion.

Weekend Wrap-Up: The Valentine's Day/President's Day Edition!
Happy Valentine's Day/President's Day Weekend!
We had a great weekend!
Saturday
It started with Valentine's Day...and the 3rd and final shower for Laura. We had an amazing Valentine's lunch, with ladies in RED!
After lunch (and even more delicious desserts!), we had so much fun celebrating LOVE and Laura and Craig.
The wedding is rapidly approaching and we are all sooooooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!!
We spent the rest of the day as a family...and it was great. We played at the indoor play area, we played at home, we ate (Maya snarfed down cheesy pizza that she normally doesn't get because we always make her share Callie's gluten-free-no-cheese pepperoni), and had a movie night.
Sunday
It was a quiet day, but another good one. There was snuggling and lap running and, as usual, eating. I also got lots of cleaning and laundry accomplished.
The girls spent time playing up in Callie's room BY THEMSELVES (and I was not invited), so I got to sit and relax outside her room a little bit. I will be just fine with that new stage...it is amazing to just sit and hear giggling from behind the door. Last night Uncle Dan came over and babysat so Chris and I could go out for a dinner date.
Monday
We met Auntie Cat at the Galleria for some Barnes & Noble browsing and then lunch.
Later on, there was just lots of playing at home. And then when it came to dinner time, I didn't make Callie's dinner correctly. It was a very dramatic situation, obviously. So she wrote "MOM" on a piece of paper and then CROSSED IT OUT to get back at me. I took a picture of the paper a long with my 5:00pm wine, since I am obviously an awesomeMOM.
I took a few adorable videos this weekend, but am having a hard time "editing" myself (I may be watching too many episodes of Project Runway) and choosing just one or two to share on this post. So check back tomorrow if you want to see maybe 4 or 5 adorable videos. I'll just throw editing to the wind and post them all tomorrow.

Happy Weekend!!!!
It has been a week of transition. A really crazy but good week. My first day at my new job was yesterday, and it was great. I slept really hard last night and slept until my alarm went off. That hasn't happened in months- usually my brain is wide awake at 5am and I can't go back to sleep.
I'm taking that as a good sign. Today was also great. I haven't met any students yet (the school has a partial online learning component on Thursdays and Fridays), but am looking forward to meeting them on Tuesday.
On to the girls' report: Callie's amount of energy is kind of mind boggling. Tonight she was just running laps around our kitchen and living room. LAPS. So many laps. In her undies and that was it. Such a goofball.
Maya is talking up a storm and has also learned about tantrums. She seems to enjoy tantrums and on occasion will throw herself on the floor and freak out over nothing. It is hilarious. She also really likes screeching "NO!" for anything that makes her mad, and is developing many opinions on many different topics such as: when to eat (always) and when to brush her teeth (never).
On to the pictures...

I had a very different and BRAVE throwback planned for today, but my computer has decided it does not want to cooperate or let me upload any videos.
But I will say this, the video had something to do with my old songbook that I found on Tuesday night when I pulled out my guitar.
I started writing songs in the summer of 1999...when I was a mere 17-years-old. And let me tell you, they were some real winners like "Ode to Vegetarianism."
I don't know how that didn't become a #1 hit.
But after skipping through all the ridiculous songs I wrote in high school, I came across one I wrote my senior year of college. I was living at home because I was student teaching (a major life change), and my sister Laura had just gone off to college (a major life change).
The song was untitled in my notebook, but I can only imagined I titled it "Change."
So I grabbed my guitar and played it. It came back easily, as did the angsty teenage/young adult feelings.
Even my 21-year-old self had a pretty good idea about how to cope with change when major life events happen.
Speaking of major life events, my throwback picture this week is wedding shower related.
And speaking of another major life event, my job change happened today and my first day at the new school went great. I'm anxious to get into the new routine and for life to be (a new) normal again.
Thanks for all your thoughts, messages, prayers, and positive vibes. I have felt the love this week and really appreciate it.
If I can get my computer to not explode, I promise to share my video of the song "Change" sometime soon.

Weekend Wrap-Up
I'm going to need a little grace for the next couple weeks. This is the big week of job transition and I'm freaking out. In a good way, but still freaking out. So if my blog posts or short or less than inspired, you'll know why.
Gah. Change is hard even if it is good change.
Anyway...the big event from the weekend was another bridal shower and bachelorette party for Laura yesterday! This time Mari, myself and Laura's friend Kelsey were the party planners and hostesses.
The shower was at the party room in Laura's condo with 14 lovely ladies, and the bachelorette party later that evening was a cooking/dinner/wine/beer party at a local cooking store/school. We had a great time at both events!

The other focus of the weekend was making two little flower girl dresses. I have spent a lot of time online looking for cute little matching dresses, but couldn't find anything that would work. So I asked G-ma what she thought about making the dresses, and she was graciously on board with the idea...knowing full well that most of the heavy work would be on her plate. Thanks G-ma!!!!!!
We found the pattern and fabric a few weeks ago, and were able to start the dress making this weekend. I did a lot of cutting and pinning and G-ma did the brainstorming and sewing. The dresses are going to be unbelievably adorable...I can't wait to see the girls walk down the aisle in them (assuming that they actually make it down the aisle...that's a whole other thing to worry about).
Because of the parties and sewing I wasn't around a lot this weekend, but we did fit in some snuggle time this morning as well as lunch with Miss Maya. We also broke down and got a sit-n-stand stroller so that Cal has a sitting option when we need the stroller...
Have a great week!

Happy Weekend! Hoooooooray!
Oops It is Saturday afternoon and I am just posting my FTPDF. But since I did the draft yesterday and publishing it from my phone, it still gives me credit for posting on Friday. Thanks for the reminder, Mom. My mind is clearly not working right. It has been another busy and crazy week.
The girls are good. Growing. Changing. Keeping us on our toes always.
On to my favorites this week...

It's Throwback Thursday!
We got Callie's preschool pictures back today. They are as adorable as last year, so here's the first throwback.
And then so Maya doesn't feel left out, here is a throwback of her.
When my grandma died in September, my aunt and uncle took all of her photo albums and scrapbooks and have spent a lot of time scanning old pictures. They shared a bunch of the pictures with us, and a few of the pictures were of my dad when he was a little kid. I found a couple really cute ones of him when he was 16-months old, so I went back to find some pictures of my girls at 16-months old to do my last couple throwbacks this week.

Change + Brave = 2015
You know how on TV shows these days, they sometimes show the big climax of the story line first, and then go back in time so the rest of the episode tells how they got to the climax? I think this blog post is going to be like that.
Exactly one week ago, I quit my job. I put in my two weeks' notice. And then to decompress all that had just happened, I went out with my friend Jenna a couple days later and she treated me to this:
So let me back up.
Fall of 2014 was tough for a number of reasons, my job being one of them. I had spent 9 years at the same place, and all of a sudden it didn't feel right.
I am an introvert who hates change, but as fall and the holidays wore on, it looked like professional change was going to be necessary for me to be truly happy.
So when 2015 rolled around, I knew my word for the year needed to be CHANGE. I even had an acronym for myself- ACED. Accept Change, Embrace Discomfort.
Then I needed to add another word to 2015: BRAVE. A couple of weeks ago, things got real on the new job front. I was approached via email by a fellow special ed coordinator from a different school. I interviewed. I got the job. And all of a sudden I had the face the fact that I had to face the people I had been working for the past 9 years and tell them I was leaving. In the middle of the year. In 2 weeks.
I had to be brave.
And I was.
The thing about this was it all happened fast- 10 days from the initial email to the job offer (5 of those 10 days also included all the sick). During those 10 days, I had this song on repeat whenever I was in the car or by myself- "Brave" by Sara Bareilles. The video for this song is definitely worth a watch- she is amazing (you may remember she has inspired me once before, and then I got to see her show and meet her in Chicago).
I will start my new job at an awesome school on the 12th. It will be completely different from what I have done the past 9 years and I'm terrified but super excited.
So that's been my start of 2015. I may not have started my own dance party at the library or bus stop, but I accepted change. I embraced discomfort. And I was braver than I ever thought I could be.

Weekend Wrap-Up
Happy Superbowl!
Just kidding, I don't care at all about football. I remember when figuring out our Superbowl plans was such a big deal. Now, I honestly couldn't even tell you who was playing, and can watch commercials online tomorrow if they are funny enough to be posted on facebook.
Oh, how things change...
Anyway, we had a nice weekend! Chris had (soon-to-be) Uncle Craig's bachelor party all day on Saturday, so it was me an the girls for the morning. It started out with Callie getting a haircut. The amount of snarls in her hair (which always led to major comb and brushing battles) was out of control. So we got the snarls cut off and she got a cute fresh haircut.
Then back at home, Maya would not leave our snack cupboard alone. I think we need to do some toddler-proofing.
Kona got to play with Shambles, and Maya napped at G-ma and G-pa's house while Callie went to dance class.
Whenever I take her to dance, I can't help but taking pictures and videos. It is so darn adorable. Here she is getting some rond de jambe lessons from Ms. Connie.
IMG 3824 from Baby Goose on Vimeo.
And here is the "Red Red Robin" dance. She rocks the jazzy walks and shoulder shrugs.
IMG 3827 from Baby Goose on Vimeo.
On Saturday afternoon we went over to meet the girls' newest (on the Gosselin side) 2nd cousin baby Carter. He was born almost 5 weeks ago to Chris' cousin Sarah and her husband Nate.
It was fun to hold a tiny baby again and fun to see the girls interact with him. There will be lots more babies born to friends in the next 6 months, so we'll get plenty of baby fixes without needing our own! :)
Today was a pretty chill day. Maya and I met Bops, Boom and Auntie Yoda for lunch, and other than that we were just playing at home.
This morning the girls were playing really well together and Callie was using a hilarious high voice when talking to her. I caught a quiet little moment on the stairs when Callie was trying to "read" her a book.
Have a great week!
