2 Daddies?

Callie has recently started really noticing who's who (or who's not) Mommy, Daddy, her grandparents, etc. I think we're going to be starting some major stranger anxiety here pretty soon. But because she now notices who people are, something kind of funny happened tonight.

It is probably fairly obvious if you follow the blog (or know us!) that Chris has a twin brother, Dan. Dan came over tonight to hang out. When he got here Chris wasn't home. Dan came in and Callie went right to him and they were playing and having fun. Then we put Callie in her pink exersaucer thing for a bit and Chris walked in. It was HILARIOUS watching her look at Chris, then at Dan, then back at Chris, then back at Dan. You could just see the wheels spinning in her little head (well, big head) as she tried to figure out what the heck was going on.

She soon went back to her playing, but those few moments of utter baby confusion made us all chuckle. And, of course, I just had to snap a picture of her and the boys.

98th Percentile Head

Callie had her 9-month check up today and here are her stats:

Weight: 20 pounds (69th %ile)
Length: 27.25 inches (46th %ile)
Head Circumference: 47 centimeters (98th %ile!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Her height and weight continues to become more "normal" but she's staying strong in the large head department! And happy about it.

When the doctor saw the graph of her head circumference over time, the mark for today was way above the trend lines (somehow last time she was only in the 80%ile or something), so she redid the measurement. And she got the same measurement the nurse did! She figures the measurement done last time was wrong...and that Callie just has a big head!

Everything else is great...we are blessed to have a happy, healthy baby.

Pictures

For every picture that I post on the blog, there are 5-10 more in the "series" of shots that I took. So I updated my Shutterfly site for ALL the pictures from September. You can find them here if you're interested:

Flying Solo

Chris was on an overnight fishing adventure this weekend so it was just me and the girls. But not really because we managed to keep very busy!

My small group girls came over Saturday night and we had a wonderful time hanging out, eating and catching up until almost midnight! Charlie and Callie got to hang out and they were adorable as usual:

Today Callie, Kona and I went with Bob and Mary on our usual trek to the apple orchard near Taylor's Falls! We met up with some cousins and Uncle Dan. It was a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L day!!!

It was a fun weekend but we missed Daddy and are glad he's home!

Here's a long(er) video I took this morning after bath time:

Big Week

Well, thankfully it is Friday again. Muddling through the middle of the week can be rough some times, but thank goodness for weekends!

This has been an exciting week:
*9-month-birthday of a certain Punkin Head!
*Callie Joy has slept in her "big girl" crib in her nursery for the past 2 nights. No more sleeping in the pack-n-play at the foot of Mommy and Daddy's bed (though the pack-n-play is still set up...)! The transition was probably much harder on me than on her, even though the nursery is literally two steps from our bedroom door.
*Stinkers has become very skilled at feeding herself Baby Puffs (pincher grasp and all!) and turning her body in 360s (see pictures to follow).
*Callie tried steamed carrots. Failure. Just like the cottage cheese. Is it a texture thing? I don't know. She seems to be a fan of only pureed things. Oh well, we'll keep trying.

And exciting things just for me:
*Three of my most favorite T.V. shows started back up! Dancing with the Stars, Glee and Grey's Anatomy! How LAME am I? :)
*I realized how much I really do love my job and that being a WoMom is definitely okay to be. At least right now.

Here are some pictures from this week:

Once again, Callie and Kona:

TA-DA!!!

And now I'm exhausted. Friday night + Full week + 5 hours of sleep last night (too much coffee during the day!) = Early Bed Time!

9 Months Old!

It is the 22nd of the month, which means Callie Joy turns a month older!

She spent the day with Grandma and wore her bright pink Adidas track suit! Clearly she was excited about it. :)

Fun and Projects!

We had a fun weekend filled with college friends, family and a sewing project!

We went to our friends' softball game on Friday night for a little bit to celebrate our friend Nik's birthday.

The cheering section: Cherilyn, Callie and I. Cherilyn is due with Baby "Tubby" Wicks in early December!

Here she is with some of the guys: Dave (Daddy of "Tubby"), Chris, and the b-day boy Nik!

We spent Saturday night with our college friends too! Callie got to see Odin the Great Dane again. And boy was she E-X-C-I-T-E-D!!! I wish I got video of her watching Odin run around the back yard...it was awesome. But I of course got a few pictures with her and Odin. They are great friends. :)

Today we got to see our good family friends the Suurmeyers, so here is Callie playing with Barbara!

Then we went over to the Gosselin house where we got to see Nana and Papa!

While Nana, Papa, Grandpa and Auntie Cathleen kept Callie entertained, Mary and I tackled a sewing project! Now that it is getting cooler out, I have wanted to get Callie a new sleep sack for bed time. We used the one we had when she was a little baby ALL THE TIME last winter. It kept her toasty warm and was way better than having to worry about blankets. So I got the idea in my head that I could MAKE a sleep sack! Thankfully, Grandma Mary is a sewing whiz! We had a great afternoon sewing and are very proud of our final product! And Callie seems to like it too. :)

A million thanks to Grandma for all the help!!!!

New Trick

As you might have noticed from one of the Kona pictures from my last post, Callie has a new trick. Standing! On her own! Holding on to something! She's strong and sturdy and can stand for awhile. She is so happy that she can do it that she bounces and pounds her hands. And then sometimes falls over from the excitement, but is unfazed and wants to get right back up.

So Happy Together...???

Somehow the song "Happy Together" by The Turtles

("Me and you and you and me
No matter how they toss the dice, it has to be
The only one for me is you, and you for me
So happy together")

starts going through my head when I see the following pictures:

However, I think the song would only be one-sided if it was actually sung, and I'll give you one guess as to the chica who would be singing! The other one would be singing something like "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz

("Oh I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah yeah yeah")

Happy Grandparent's Day! and The Happiest Place On Earth

Today is Grandparent's Day! Callie is the luckiest baby EVER and has the BEST grandparents!

MorMor

Bops

Grandma

Grandpa

Thanks for everything Grandparents! We love you!

Since today is such a beautiful day, we decided to go do something outside with the two ladies. And, lo and behold, we found the Happiest Place On Earth for both of them. No, not Disney World. IT IS THE DOG PARK!

Yes, the Dog Park. For Kona, that is pretty much a no-brainer. She loves other dogs, so any situation where she gets to come upon countless dogs in the span of 45 minutes is awesome for her. But the dog park now makes our little 8.5 month old beyond happy- she SQUIGGLES! (I made up another word- squiggles = squeals + giggles/wiggles) We all know how much she loves Kona and her "Puppies and Kittens" book, so it wasn't too big of a surprise that she was so happy looking at all of the doggies and watching them play. It was A-DOR-A-BLE.

The whole time we were at the park I kept trying to get her to say "doggie" and she came pretty close. We'll keep practicing, and then I'm sure they'll be a video post when she gets it!

Hope everybody had a great weekend! Weekends go by WAY too fast...

Happy Birthday MorMor!

Today is MorMor's birthday (and Uncle Beepo's too!).

It is a beautiful day and so far we have taken advantage of the lovely weather. After a nice lunch (Veggie Benedict...delicious) we headed to the falls and Wabun park to play.

We tried the slide for the first time (three times) and she loved it!

And I couldn't resist a photo op of my two girls:

Tonight Grandma is coming over to babysit and we're heading out to dinner and the musical Wicked with my parents to continue my mom's birthday celebration. Can't wait!!!!!
