Post By Chris:

Today we got to hang out with Jed and Theresa Wachter and their two boys. Noah is 3 months old and Dominik will turn 2 in Sept. It was really fun hanging out with them. We took them to Lego Land at MOA so that Dominik could release some energy. The trip was great minus me almost knocking Noah out of his stroller on the escalator. As soon as we get pictures from Nik we will post pictures of the two boys. Hopefully the Wachter family can come up again and spend some more time with us. Until next time.

Blog Post By Chris:
Nothing too new to post. Our doctors visit in this coming Tuesday. I have started to notice babies and children a lot more. I have come to the conclusion that there are only ugly babies and cute babies. Somehow the in-between baby has ceased to exist. Although I wish only for a healthy child, I just hope he/she isn't as ugly as Dan. I have a guess at what I think the sex will be, but will hold off sharing that information for a few more months. With the increased awareness of children I have experienced a wide range of emotions. Sometimes I am amazed that we could create a child, and at other times I am scared for the years to come. Raising a child is no easy task and I admire people that do it, especially single moms, or moms of twins :) . Still holding off on telling people which seems to get harder and harder everyday. When I see people that I have not seen in weeks and they ask what is new, I can not think of anything to say. Soon we will be able to tell people about what is going on in our lifes. I think regardless of the sex our kid, they will start golf when he/she can walk. Luckily Kati is a teacher so I do not have any responsibility to educate our child. I use a calculator to divide single digit numbers. That is all for now, thanks for listening.

Pineapple- no not the baby

Blog Post by Kati:

I would just like to pat myself on the back for a healthy snack choice.

My tummy and taste buds wanted vanilla ice cream with M&Ms.

My mind said to eat pineapple.

I am now eating pineapple.

Grape

Blog Post by Kati:

Week 9 Info:
Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks.

I never thought I'd say this...but I'm getting tired of eating! I have to eat constantly...and the snacks I have are getting old. I also started feeling a little sore in my belly- I read up on it and it has something to do with the ligaments stretching.
Our doctor's appointment is on Tuesday...finally! It will be so nice to go and talk with the doctor and figure out the due date and everything for sure! :)

Kidney Bean!

Blog Post by Kati:

Week 8! So here's the info:

How your baby's growing:
New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby —
about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.

I love the food analogies...so funny. From beans to fruit back to beans. I guess it is appropriate since I want to eat food all of the time. And I pretty much am. So far today I have had:

Breakfast:
String Cheese
Bag of grapes
Bagel w/ Spinach and Artichoke Cream Cheese (thanks for the tip, Laura, it is delicious!)

Morning Snack:
Special K Fruit and Yogurt Cereal
Strawberry Jello

Lunch:
Hard Boiled Egg
Amy's Microwave Pesto Pasta meal (SOOOO delicious!)
Vanilla Pudding
A few potato chips (only a few, Mom!)

Afternoon Snack:
Carrots and dip

Not sure about dinner yet, but I'm sure I'll figure out something healthy and delicious and plentiful. :)

Whew!

Blog Post by Kati:

Well, the little blueberry kicked my butt this week. I left work early twice because I was feeling sick and/or tired. But this weekend I have felt better.

I'm starting to feel more roly-poly. I need to stop putting my jeans in the dryer, because I definitely won't fit in to them! And I'm glad I kept my "fat pants" from a couple years ago. They will be coming in handy very soon. :)

Only 12 school days left...I'm looking forward to summer schedule (M-Th 9-3) and then having July off!

Blog Post by Chris:

By popular demand I am posting my first blog. I do not have much to post about since my body is not the one changing everyday. However, I am getting excited to tell all of our friends. The initial excitement has phased out a little without telling anyone what is going on. I have been good, unlike someone else, about not telling anyone about the baby. All of our friends are really supportive and will be excited for our new "journey" aka. social life ending decision. These next two weeks will fly by with work being crazy, and soon it will be our June 2nd doctors visit.

Blueberry!

Blog Post by Kati:

From Baby Center about week 7:

How your baby's growing:

The big news this week: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.

If you could see inside your womb, you'd spot eyelid folds partially covering her peepers, which already have some color, as well as the tip of her nose and tiny veins beneath parchment-thin skin. Both hemispheres of your baby's brain are growing, and her liver is churning out red blood cells until her bone marrow forms and takes over this role. She also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. A loop in your baby's growing intestines is bulging into her umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from her tiny body.

Still feeling nauseated...but went to my chiropractor a couple days ago and she worked on my neck so it has been better. It is just hard to want to eat when I don't feel good. But I usually feel better after I do, so I just need to remember that. :)

Mother's Day!

Blog Post by Kati: (Still waiting for Chris to post...hint hint)

We had a really fun Mother's Day. Ate a LOT of food, got really uncomfortably full and tired. But it was great to be able to see both families. Here are some pictures of the day:

I'm definitely noticing that food is getting less and less appealing to me. I still eat it, and it tastes fine, but I don't anticipate it like I used to. I'm used to being a good eater...ha ha. Mom and I went to Whole Foods yesterday so I was able to stock up on good healthy snacks and quick meals. So this week I hope to really start eating healthy!

Two Authors

Blog Post by Kati:

Okay- I changed my profile name to say "Kati and Chris" instead of just "Kati" and gave Chris access to write in the blog too. So we'll sign the blog at the beginning before the blog post so you know who is writing.

Lentil Bean

Blog Post by Kati:

I'm officially at 6 weeks now (I think)...and am starting to feel it a little more. I'm definitely exhausted more often, and the past couple days I have been feeling more nauseated. I've made sure to have crackers and other snacky stuff around me so I can eat if I need to. I signed up for a weekly email from http://www.babycenter.com/ that explains how the baby is developing. Here is the excerpt for this week:

Your pregnancy: 6 weeks
How your baby's growing: This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil bean.

Here's a picture of a lentil bean to give some perspective. :)

Craving?

Blog Post by Kati:

Last night I had a huge lunch, so I didn't eat a whole lot for dinner. But by 9pm or so I was hungry again. Chris mentioned mac and cheese, and I literally started SALIVATING in my mouth. Never has Kraft Macaroni and Cheese sounded so good. Not sure if it was a craving or not, but I made it, ate it and it was awesome. :)

But I probably need to start salivating over broccoli and bananas instead of mac and cheese.

Hmmm....not sure if that is going to happen...haha.

One week in

Blog Post by Kati:

It has been a little over one week since we found out the news, and I've noticed a couple of things.

1) I'm still getting used to not feeling "food guilt" as much...not that I really did before anyway, but if I ate a lot or splurged on something I used to always think about needing to run more. Now it is okay to do more snacking as long as it is good for me, right Mom? :) I'm excited to go to Whole Foods and use the gift card I got for my birthday to get some great, healthy snacks.

2) I don't feel any different yet, so it is still a little hard to believe. Therefore I have taken 2 more tests this week. All positive. :)

3) I do think I'm a little crabbier and am glad that the school year is wrapping up. Those kids are energy drainers! haha.

Lastly, here is a "before" picture. It will be fun to see how the baby grows!
