A Picture Update

Hey all! Happy Friday!  Here are some pics from the week…

Maya is big into composing her own music. Well, she writes out a bunch of notes and we play together with me on our out of tune piano, and it’s quite an experience.

On Wednesday night the girls slept over at Boom’s house and Laura and I went to the T-Wolves game.

Thursday was a very busy day.  I started out the morning with a run- a house near us has gigantic Rudolph inflatables on their lawn.

We spent the morning/afternoon at Boom's house for Thanksgiving Meal #1! We facetimed with Auntie Mari and Avery and the girls had lots of playtime.

Callie enjoyed matching all of G-ma's pies!

Then later in the afternoon we headed over to Uncle Dan and Auntie Hanna's house for Thanksgiving Meal #2!

We also celebrated Mitchell's 5th birthday and had more dessert.

There was also shenanigans with whipped cream…click here for some videos of those shenanigans.

Finally, Mitchell opened his presents.

It was a great day!

To recover, we did basically nothing today. Maya stayed in her big Lynx jammy shirt all day. We did do some cleaning and I did some cross-stitching (ok a lot of cross-stitching!) but it felt good to be home with no plans.

Have a good weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hey all-

We had a pretty relaxed weekend and I didn’t get too many pictures.

I worked hard to finish my 2nd cross-stitching project and made veggie curry.

I chose the hummingbird project because when Chris and I were in Jamaica at the start of 2024 we went to a hummingbird sanctuary and it was magical!

Speaking of magical…this weekend also revolved around WICKED! I listened to the soundtrack about 10 times in preparation for seeing the movie today.

It was SO GOOD. And nostolgic. About 20 years ago we were lucky to see the original cast show on Broadway, and it has been one of my favorite musicals ever since!

Have a great Thanksgiving week!

A Picture Update

Hey all!  TGIF.  It has been another busy week.  Chris got us a nice new sign for our yard and Luna checked out the brief stint of snow, followed by some warm and cozy time.

I played in a staff vs. student basketball game at my school and it was ridiculous.  I scored no points, but also did NOT get injured, which is what Chris and my mom were worried about.  So I'll call that a win!

Speaking of basketball, Callie had her first game tonight!  Well, she didn't play because she strained her quad muscle in practice, but she looked official in her uniform.  Below you see her shooting during warm-ups, and paying attention to the coach during a timeout.  They won 32-26! After the game Maya and I got chicken (Maya was VERY excited) while Chris and Cal went elsewhere for food.

While it doesn't feel like the holidays should be so close, the Christmas music has started on the radio and everyone in our family is all about it.  Each year I search for the Luther Juletide 2001 album to listen to.  It was a CD we always listened to during Christmas that my dad loved.  When he died, we weren't able to manage all his fancy music technology, so the album was more or less lost at that time.  Yesterday I was determined.  While I didn't find the whole album, I was able to remember the name of my favorite song (a medley of three Christmas carols arranged and commissioned for the Luther College Christmas concert that year). After a lot of internet sleuthing, I was able to find the composer, and ultimately a link to a free download of the song.  It is called Rejoice! and is about 12 minutes long.  It is so beautiful.  If you'd like to hear the song, click here.  I hope you enjoy it! I have already listened to it a number of times since I found it and it gives me goosebumps a bit every time.

Have a lovely weekend.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hey all- Happy Sunday.

Yesterday I went for a run a caught the pretty sunrise. Later on, Mitchell, Isla and Auntie Hanna came over for some playtime.

This morning Maya and I went to see my boss’ new puppy, who was adorable! And Maya got to jump in their backyard trampoline with their little guy.

This afternoon the girls and I met Boom, Auntie Yoda and Mila at Mall of America for some fun. We went to Wink World, The Sugar Factory, and the girls and Yoda did the Log Chute!

It’s been a long time since I posted some videos…click here  for some videos from the past few months.

Have a good week!

A Timehop Friday Picture Update

Guys I think I’m losing my mind. This week has been another madhouse. My brain is at max capacity. So here I am on Friday with Timehops and only three photos from the week.

And my first cross stitch project is complete!

This girl needed some snuggles tonight, and so did I.

And then, for some exciting news…Callie made the b-squad basketball team, so new bball shoes were in order!

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Not too much to report from this weekend…but Chris and I got a date night! We went to the roller derby and then dinner.

And then there was cross-stitching and soup making.

Callie, her friend and I went to see Billie Eilish tonight. It was a blast!

A Picture Update

Hey all. It’s been a tough week.

I don’t have too many other pictures besides the ones I posted on Wednesday.

I decided I needed to take up a hobby that keeps my hands busy so I stop doomscrolling. So cross stitching it is!

Chris and Cal had fun at the T-Wolves game tonight…decked out in Lynx gear of course!

Yes, Chris is wearing the same sweatshirt I was cross-stitching in earlier today. 😂

Take care of yourselves this weekend. 💙

Heartbreak

I’m not sure how else to describe the election results except with the word heartbreak.

We did our part and we had hope.

And now we feel the hard feelings but don’t let them settle. We release them.

And shift our hope for a better future to a hope for the best. I’m scared for our girls. I found this below amongst the many thoughts being put out in the world today.

Now I’m practicing self-care with Luna in a quiet house.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Timehop Tuesday: Happy Birthday Nana!

It’s Election Day! Make sure to vote!

And also, it’s Nana’s birthday!!!! We love you and hope you have a wonderful day!

And as a completely unrelated Timehop, here are Maya and Avery with cranky faces in their Auntie’s weddings!

Uncle Josh’s sister got married a few weeks ago, and the photo Mari sent us reminded me of our own little toddler back in 2016!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hey all-

It has been a busy weekend.  Yesterday we met Uncle Dan, Auntie Hanna, Mitchell and Isla out at a big park out in Plymouth.  They had a lot more snow up there than we got at our house!  The kids had fun playing and running around together.

Last night we enjoyed the sunset out by the fire pit.  And then the Dahlen's came over to enjoy a fire.

Today was All Saints Sunday at church.  I stopped by Lakewood before meeting my mom for the service.  We lit candles in memory of all our loved ones who have died.

This evening we headed over to Uncle Craigles' Auntie Yoda, Lucy and Mila's house for playtime and dinner!

I'm pretty anxious about election week.  We have two daughters, four nieces, one nephew and one more little niece or nephew we haven't met yet.  We are voting for their rights, their health and safety, and their future.  Please make sure you get to the polls. Our democracy depends on it.

A Picture Update

Happy Friday!  It was another busy week!  We had a Halloween event at Lund's, a dinner date with me and Cal, pumpkins and church, and a Halloween fox sighting.

Yesterday Auntie Cat came over for dinner and trick-or-treating with Maya, while Callie's friend came over to trick-or-treat with her.  So Chris and I both got to stay home and relax while handing out candy and drinking wine!

There was a pretty sunset and a LOT of candy.

Today I saw two bald eagles flying around together and eventually hang out on top of the football field lights.  I feel like that is a positive omen for election week next week.  And then, a lovely cocktail to combat the election week nerves...

Luna and Maya are having a sleepover tonight.  No idea how that's going to go...but they both seem excited about it!

Have a great weekend.
