Santa Visit QOTD

So we went to see Santa tonight.

The trips to Santa in the past have not gone well.

As you can see, we couldn't even get her near a REAL Santa last year...we had to settle for this wooden Santa.

Here is how it went down this year:

While waiting in line

Callie: (Getting more and more anxious, she decides that telling Santa her Christmas list totally isn't worth having to sit on his lap ) I'll just deal with whatever Santa brings me.
Me: What if he brings you Ninja Turtle stuff?
Callie: Well, I like Ninja Turtles.
Me: Oh really?  What if he brings you a...(trying desperately to think of something terrible)...a TOOTHBRUSH!
Callie: (pauses) Santa brings TOYS, Mom!  Not toothbrushes.
Me: I don't know, if you don't tell him what you want, he might think you really LIKE toothbrushes.

As we get to the front of the line and she sees the treats other kids are getting from Santa, she starts to come around and sits NEXT to him on Chris' lap for a picture.  Maya, on the other hand, lets Santa hold her and throw her around and doesn't mind Santa at all.  We get a cute picture!

Santa: What do you want for Christmas?
Callie: (staring awkwardly at the floor, ignoring him)
Chris: (whispering to her) Tell him what you want!
Santa: Do you want spaghetti?
Callie: (giggling) No!
Chris: Tell him what you want!
Callie: (staring awkwardly at the floor again)
Chris: Do you want princess toys?
Callie: (nodding)
Santa: What does Maya want?
Callie: (thinking for a second) Baby toys.

So she was finally able to talk to Santa and tell him what he should give her sister.  And then sort of gave him a high-five.

I'd call that a super successful Santa visit.
