A Picture Update

Not a lot of brain power on this Friday evening. Our pup steals the show again this week.

And I did some self-care when I could.

The girls stayed busy with school and activities.

And this helps explain the feeling of many many people in our city (and country and world) right now.

Take care this weekend.

Timehop Tuesday

This “Fight the Good Fight” graphic popped up in my Timehop from 11 years ago. I have no idea why I decided to save that to my phone 11 years ago, but here we are in 2026 trying to do just that.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Again. Violence in our city. The government not protecting us.

So. After spending a couple weeks a bit stunned and numb and discombobulated, we took some time this weekend to take some small actions.

But first, comfort food (and a comfort face).

And then a Gratitude candle last night at 7pm.

And then, some normalcy (or absolutely non-normalcy if you consider that the eldest needs to practice driving).

And some morning sunrays.

And then, a text from a friend about a supply drive next weekend (at the exact moment Chris was at Costco to pickup said supplies) and a plan to volunteer to organize at one of the warehouses next Saturday.

And then…a tiny but hearty group of neighbors (me, Chris and our next door lady) standing at the nearby intersection for a couple hours in single digits with signs expressing our views in solidarity of loving our state.

Mostly we were well received and got lots of honks and waves and peace signs. One lady even brought us hot chocolate. There were also a few detractors, but they didn’t bother us. We know we are on the right side of history.

A Picture Update

Happy “Ice Out” Friday everyone. It is a balmy -13 degrees here in Minneapolis where peaceful protesters are currently making their presence known in multiple locations around our cities. I’m so proud to be a Minnesotan.

This week was about balance. Spaghetti squash for dinner one night, and giant margarita a few nights later.

Today we were all home, but Maya and I went downtown over the lunch hour. My mom and I walked out to the Stonearch Bridge at noon to see a drum protest I had heard about from a coworker.

We enjoyed the VERY brisk walk and the sunshine in our city! Click here for some video clips of it!

Have a good weekend, and stay safe and warm!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hi all. I think this blog is slowly turning into an animal and food blog. Teens and tweens are never around and/or refuse to be photographed, so here we are with animal and food photos and not much else.

First up: Luna’s intense stare. It is inescapable.

Next up: homemade protein peanut butter cups and gerbils. Oh, and anger about negative degrees.

And lastly, a story that helps explain what is going on in Minneapolis. I met my mom and sister for an evening church service, and we made reservations for a Latin Fusion restaurant nearby for after. When we got the the restaurant, the open signs were not lit up, the lights inside were dim, there were signs on the door that said “No Ice” and the door was locked. Someone let us in and we had a lovely and delicious dinner. But it was heartbreaking that the restaurant had to go through all those precautions.

Take care. I hope that the next week is far less eventful for our state.

A Picture Update

Hey all. It has been another challenging week. But good things have happened too. I have a new whistle to wear at school, which seems crazy but necessary. I made pizza crust out of cottage cheese and eggs (it was ok), a new book arrived, Luna continued trying to merge with me, and Chris hung out with Mitchell today.

Also, the sky was really pretty a couple times.

It’s a long weekend, so I’ll be back on Monday night for the wrap-up. Stay safe. And warm.

Weekend Wrap-Up (Belated) + Happy Birthday G-ma!

Hi all. I didn’t have it in me last night to write up the blog, but I’m here today!

And it’s G-ma’s birthday! Woohoo!!!

We hung around home on Saturday and I was able to do some reading and cooking like I hoped.

They on Sunday we celebrated G-ma’s birthday with a lunch party.

The dogs had fun playing, too!

I continue to be so sad about what is going on. And scared. But, as I have said to both girls the past few days, this kind of situation is a reminder about why it is so important to be kind and caring, and to help others when we can. We need more of that in the world, that’s for sure. ❤️

A Picture Update

I’m honestly not really sure what to say today. This has been an extremely difficult week. Again. In our city. I’m hanging on to hope and gratitude by a thread. The saying goes, “this too shall pass” but it feels like there’s a lot of really bad stuff to come before that happens.

So I am actively working on trying to keep my focus on things I can control. And what I really need to do this weekend is put my 24/7 news device down and cook some food and clean out a closet or two and read one of the 5 books I have started. I’ll report back.

So here are my pics, which I’ll just leave here with no explanations.

I hope everyone has a peaceful weekend. ❤️

Timehop Tuesday

The Timehop today is Callie and the boxers!

We loved Kona and we love Luna! Even with their dumb faces. 🤪

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday. I’m afraid this won’t be a very exciting wrap-up. I have had a sinus/congestion issue all week and am TIRED. Chris and I spent part of the weekend a few hours away for our friend Bethany’s mom’s memorial service. We got back last night. Luna was a little clingy as per usual, and Maya and I learned a new game. The exciting event today was Maya earned enough money for a double piercing on each ear.

Reality starts back up tomorrow and I don’t know if any of us are ready, but here we go.

A Picture Update

Hi all! It’s somehow Friday already and winter break is nearly over! After such a busy week last week and all the housework over the weekend and into this week, I worked myself into a pretty bad head/sinus cold. So my brain is fuzzy and my nose is stuffed. Here are the pics:

Some climbing and some naughtiness and lots of hot tea.

Thank goodness was she is good with putting together furniture! The main floor is taking shape.

New Year’s sparkles and New Year babysitting for gerbils.

And finally, a pool party at G-ma’s!

Have a lovely weekend!
